176. וְהַיְנוּ (בראשית א) וַיִּבְרָא אֱלֹהִים אֶת הָאָדָם בְּצַלְמוֹ בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים בָּרָא אֹתוֹ. וְהוּא שֶׁעָשָׂה אוֹתוֹ בִּשְׁתֵּי דְמֻיּוֹת, בִּשְׁנֵי גַנִּים (פָנִים), שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר עֲלֵיהֶם (שיר השירים ה) הַיּוֹשֶׁבֶת בַּגַּנִּים. הִיא עִלַּת עַל הַכֹּל, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר עָלֶיהָ (דברים ד) כִּי לֹא רְאִיתֶם כָּל תְּמוּנָה. וְעַל שְׁאָר הַדְּמֻיּוֹת כָּתוּב, תְּמוּנַת כָּל וְגוֹ’. Pinchas 176, 177<\/strong><\/p>\n

God created us in two ‘images’
\nGenesis 1:27<\/a>
\n“וַיִּבְרָא אֱלֹהִים אֶת-הָאָדָם בְּצַלְמוֹ, בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים בָּרָא אֹתוֹ: זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה, בָּרָא אֹתָם. ”
\n“And God created man in His own image (first image), in the image (Second Image) of God created He him; male and female created He them. ”<\/p>\n

These two ‘images’ represent the 613 precepts. 248 that are “You shall do …” connect us with the upper light to draw it down. 365 precepts of “you shall not do…”, protect the light we earned from getting lost.<\/p>\n

All of our positive actions create angels that help us ascend to upper levels. These angels are in the secret of the next verse from Exodus 19:4<\/a>
\n“וָאֶשָּׂא אֶתְכֶם עַל-כַּנְפֵי נְשָׁרִים, וָאָבִא אֶתְכֶם אֵלָי. ”
\n“and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto Myself. ”<\/p>\n

The Israelites<\/a> left Egypt surrounded by the seven ‘clouds of honor’. They represent the Chassadim<\/a> of the lower seven Sefirot. With the clouds of honor, God dresses the soul and reveals himself to it through Zeir Anpin<\/a>. This is the aspect of the ‘mirror’.
\nThe Light of God can not be seen directly so it is reflected, like from a mirror. The Sefirot are vessels for the light of the Endless that is channeled through the Sefira of Chokmah<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ‘image’, revelation of God is in the heavens and earth.
\nPsalms 96:11<\/a>
\n“יִשְׂמְחוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְתָגֵל הָאָרֶץ”
\n“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice (וְתָגֵל);”
\nThe initials of the four words are YHVH<\/a> יהוה. The Hebrew word for rejoice is וְתָגֵל and its root is about revelation. When the light of heavens (Chokmah<\/a> and Binah<\/a>) is revealed in the lower seven (Chessed<\/a> to Malchut<\/a>), then we can see the ‘image’ \/ ‘mirror’ of God.<\/p>\n

Numbers 8:12<\/a> “וּתְמֻנַת יְהוָה, יַבִּיט ” “and he will see the Image of (YHVH<\/a>) God”
\nA revelation of light is a joyous event and that is exactly the purpose of our Daily Zohar study.<\/p>\n
