Genesis 32:3<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב כַּאֲשֶׁר רָאָם, מַחֲנֵה אֱלֹהִים זֶה; וַיִּקְרָא שֵׁם-הַמָּקוֹם הַהוּא, מַחֲנָיִם. ”
\n“And Jacob said when he saw them: ‘This is God’s camp (מַחֲנֵה).’ And he called the name of that place Mahanaim (Camps, מַחֲנָיִם).”<\/p>\n

The Zohar explains this verse and says that ‘when he saw them’ is when Jacob saw the angels of the day and ‘this is God’s camp’ is when he saw the angels of the night.<\/p>\n

‘God’s camp’ ‘מחנה אלהים’ is for Malchut<\/a> and ‘This is’ ‘זה’ for Zeir Anpin<\/a>. Jacob saw both Holy camps of angels at the same place and he called the place ‘מַחֲנָיִם’, literally meaning ‘two camps’.
\nThe unification of left and right revealed the light that allowed Jacob to see the angels of day and night.<\/p>\n

Genesis 28:11<\/a>
\n“ וַיִּפְגַּע בַּמָּקוֹם וַיָּלֶן שָׁם, כִּי-בָא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ ”
\n“And he reached the place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set ”<\/p>\n

Rabbi Shimon continues his explanation on ‘hit’ (see previous study of DZ 1154). Here he says that ‘hit’ is the aspect of when the groom comes to his bride. He prepares her with words that makes her desire unification with him. After the unification they need to sleep together under the same roof.<\/p>\n

The ‘Faithful Shepherd<\/a>’, Moses, adds that ‘because the sun was set’ from the verse above, it tells us that the light of sun was turned off and from that we learn that unification of man and woman should be at night and in total darkness.<\/p>\n
