\n273. כִּי רוּחַ הַחַיָּה בָּאוֹפַנִּים. אֶל אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה שָּׁמָּה הָרוּחַ לָלֶכֶת יֵלֵכוּ (יחזקאל א). בּוֹ מִתְנַהֲגִים מַיִם וְאֵשׁ. שֶׁאוֹחֵז בִּשְׁנֵיהֶם, וְדוֹפֵק בְּעוֹרְקֵי הַמֹּחַ, שֶׁהוּא מַיִם. וּבְעוֹרְקֵי הַלֵּב, שֶׁהוּא אֵשׁ. וְרוּחַ בְּכַנְפֵי רֵאָה.

\n275. וּכְמוֹ עוֹפוֹת, פּוֹתְחִים כַּנְפֵיהֶם לְקַבֵּל רוּחַ לִפְרֹחַ בּוֹ – כָּךְ כָּל הָאֵיבָרִים אֵיבְרֵי הַגּוּף פְּתוּחִים בְּכַמָּה מְקוֹרוֹת, בְּכַמָּה פְרָקִים, בְּכַמָּה עוֹרְקִים, בְּכַמָּה חַדְרֵי הַלֵּב, חַדְרֵי הַמֹּחַ, לְקַבֵּל אוֹתוֹ. שֶׁאִם לֹא יִנְשֹׁב בְּבָתֵּי הַלֵּב, הָיָה אֵשׁ הַלֵּב שׂוֹרֵף כָּל הַגּוּף. וְכַמָּה סֻלָּמוֹת וַחֲדָרִים שֶׁל עוֹרְקֵי קְנֵה הַלֵּב וּקְנֵה הָרֵאָה, כֻּלָּם מִתְתַּקְּנִים אֵלָיו.

\n“ עַל אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה-שָּׁם הָרוּחַ לָלֶכֶת יֵלֵכוּ, שָׁמָּה הָרוּחַ לָלֶכֶת; וְהָאוֹפַנִּים, יִנָּשְׂאוּ לְעֻמָּתָם, כִּי רוּחַ הַחַיָּה, בָּאוֹפַנִּים”
\n“Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, and the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.”<\/p>\n

The Zohar reveals to us a great secret from this verse. Every part of the body is under the energy influence of the four elements of nature (Fire, Air (spirit, Ruach<\/a>), Water and Earth). The spirit (Ruach<\/a>) leads all the others from their origin that is the lungs. It is the aspect of the Central Column and it controls the water that is the Right column<\/a> and Chessed<\/a>. The direction of water is downward from heavens to earth.<\/p>\n

The Left column<\/a>, Gevurah<\/a> is represented by the Fire element and its direction is upward from Earth to Heavens. The Ruach<\/a> that is the central column, has the Earth as a vessel that draws the Right of Chessed<\/a> and ‘pushes away’ the Left, which is Gevurah<\/a>. <\/p>\n

All body parts are open to the control of the Ruach<\/a> that comes from the lungs and channels the Light to all cells of the body. The heart that is the center of the Fire element in the body could not exist without the ‘wings’ of the lungs that ‘hover’ over it to ‘cool’ it down and give it balance.<\/p>\n

Without the work of the Lungs the heart could ‘burn’ the entire body with the judgment that comes from the Fire of the heart.<\/p>\n

The ‘wheels’ in the verse is the energy patterns in the physical world that are driven by the spiritual force that is Ruach<\/a>. Everything in this world in is control by the ‘wheels’ that are controlled by the Ruach<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In simple words, we need to breathe Light into our lungs so it will spread all over the body and balance it. With every breath we take, we should meditate to connect to the Light. It would be a great benefit if we can set times in a proper environment to exercise our breathing with meditation. When we recite the Ana B’Koach or any prayer or meditation, we should have this teaching in our mind to gain better control over the body.<\/p>\n

Obviously, we should not forget the purpose and sharing aspect of the meditation and prayers while we are taking the light in.<\/p>\n
