Lamentation 1:1<\/a> “גָּלְתָה יְהוּדָה מֵעֹנִי, וּמֵרֹב עֲבֹדָה–הִיא יָשְׁבָה בַגּוֹיִם, לֹא מָצְאָה מָנוֹחַ; כָּל-רֹדְפֶיהָ הִשִּׂיגוּהָ, בֵּין הַמְּצָרִים” Below the Zohar text is the translation and commentary in English.<\/p>\n אֵיכָה, רַבִּי פִּנְחָס פָּתַח, (ירמיה לא) קוֹל בְּרָמָה נִשְׁמָע נְהִי בְּכִי תַּמְרוּרִים וְגו’. בְּשַׁעֲתָא דְּאִתְחָרַב בֵּי מַקְדְּשָׁא, וְאִתּוֹקַּד. אָתָא קָלָא וְאִיתְעַר עַל קִבְרֵי אֲבָהָן קַדְמָאֵי, וַאֲמַר, אֲבָהָן קַדְמָאֵי, אַתּוּן דְּמִיכִין בְּשֵׁינְתָא, וְלָא יָדְעִיתוּן צַעֲרָא דְעָלְמָא, בְּנֵיכוֹן דְּגַדֵּלְתּוּן בְּצַעֲרָא, וְאָעֵילְתּוּן בְּהֵימְנוּתָא סַגֵּי דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, הָא מִיתוּ, וְהָא אִתְקְטָלוּ, וְהָא אֲזָלוּ בְּגָלוּתָא בֵּין שַׂנְאֵיהוֹן, יְדֵיהוֹן מְהַדְּקָן לַאֲחוֹרָא, מַיְיתִין בְּכַפְנָא, בָּתֵּיהוֹן מְהֵימְנָא, אָן אִינוּן בְּנִין, אָן שְׁבַקְתְּ לוֹן. מִיָּד אִיתְעַר משֶׁה, וַאֲזַל עִמְּהוֹן לְגַבֵּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ. אֲמַר לֵיהּ, בְּנֵי אֲבָהָן אִלֵּין, בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, דְּפַקְדַנִּי קוּדְשָׁא כְּמָה דְּפַקְדַּתַּנִי, וְכֻלְּהוּ שַׁבְקֵית גְּבַר עַל אַחְסַנְתֵּיהּ וְעַל עַדְבֵיהּ.<\/p>\n וּמִיָּה אֲזָלוּ כּוּלְּהוּ לְאַרְעָא קַדִּישָׁא, וְאַשְׁכָּחוּ לָהּ דְּאִתְחֲרָבָא, דְּלָא אִשְׁתַּמַּע בָּהּ קָלָא. עָאלוּ גַּבֵּי מַקְדְּשָׁא, וְחָמוּ דְּאִתּוֹקַד. עֲבָדוּ בֵּיהּ הֶסְפֵּידָא, עַד דְּאִשְׁתַּמַּע קָל מְרִירוּ דִּבְכִיָּה לְרוּם שְׁמַיָא, וְכָל מַלְאֲכֵי עִילָּאֵי בְּכוֹ עִמְּהוֹן לְעֵילָא.<\/p>\n אִיתְעַר קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא וַאֲתָא לְגַבֵּיהוֹן, וְאַשְׁכַּח לוֹן מְמָרְרִין בְּקָל בְּכִיָּה, גּוֹ עַפְרָא דְמַקְדְּשָׁא. אֲמַר לוֹן, רְחִימִין דְּנַפְשָׁאי, מָה אַתּוּן הָכָא, (ירמיה יא) מַה לִּידִידִי בְּבֵיתִי.<\/p>\n קָם אַבְרָהָם סָבָא בְּקַדְמִיתָא, אֲמַר קַמֵּיהּ מָארֵי דְעָלְמָא, אַתְּ יְדַעְתְּ דְּאָזְלֵית קַמָּךְ בְּאוֹרַח קְשׁוֹט. עֶשֶׂר זִמְנִין נִסֵּית לִי, וְקָיְימִית בְּכֹלָּא. בָּנַי אָן אִינוּן, לָא שְׁמַעֲנָא קָל מִלֵּיהוֹן בְּאַרְעָא דְּאוֹמֵית לִי, לְקָיְימָא לְהוֹן בָּהּ. כֵיוָן דְּשָׁמַע אַבְרָהָם כָּךְ אָמַר יִמָּחוּ עַל קְדוּשַּׁת שְׁמֶךָ כָּל אִינוּן חוֹבֵיהוֹן בֵּינֵי עַמְּמַיָא, עַד דִּיהֵא רַעֲוָוא דִּילָךְ לַאֲתָבָא לוֹן לְגַבָּךְ. וְכֵן כֻּלְּהוּ כְּגַוְּונָא דָא, וַאֲזָלוּ לְהוֹ.<\/p>\n אִשְׁתָּאֲרַת תַּמָּן רָחֵל, וַאֲרֵימַת קָל בְּכִיָה בִּמְרִירוּ דְתַמְרוּרִים, אֲמַר לָהּ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, רָחֵל, מָה אַתְּ מְבַכָּה. אֲמָרָה קַמֵּיהּ, וְלָא אֶבְכֶּה, בָּנַי אָן אִינוּן, וּמָה חָטָאן לְגַבָּךְ. אֲמַר לָהּ עָאֳלוּ צָרָתִי לָקֳמַי, וְאָעֵילוּ לָהּ בְּבֵיתִי. מִיָּד אָמְרָה, וְכִי לָא עֲבָדִית אֲנָא יַתִּיר, דְּאָעֵילְנָא צָרָתִי בְּבֵיתִי.<\/p>\n דִּתְנַן, בְּשַׁעֲתָא דִּכְתִיב, (בראשית כט) וַיַּגֵּד יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל כִּי אֲחִי אָבִיהָ הוּא, אֲמַר הִזְדַּוְּוגִי לְגַבָּאי, אָמְרָה לֵיהּ אֵין, אֲבָל אֲחָתָא אִית לִי קְשִׁישָׁא מִינָאי, וּמִסְתָּפֵינָא מֵאַבָּא, דְּרַמָּאָה אִיהוּ. מִיָּד וַיַּגֵּד יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל, כִּי אֲחִי אָבִיהָ הוּא בְּרַמָּאוּתָא.<\/p>\n מִיָּה יְהַב לָהּ סִימָנִין. כֵּיוָן דְּעָאלַת לֵאָה בְּהַהוּא לֵילְיָא, אָמְרָה רָחֵל, הַשְׁתָּא מִתְכַּסְּפָא אֲחָתִי, אֲזָלַת וּמָסְרָהּ לָהּ סִימָנִין.<\/p>\n וְעַל דָּא אָמְרָה לְגַבֵּי קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא, וַאֲנָא לָא עֲבָדִית יַתִּיר, דְּאָעֵילְנָא צָרָתִי בְּבֵיתִי. וְאַתְּ דִּכְתִיב בָּךְ, רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם, הֲוָה לָךְ לְאַעֲבָרָא עַל חוֹבֵיהוֹן.<\/p>\n וּבְכָל מַה דַּאֲמַר לָהּ, לָא קַבֵּילַת תַּנְחוּמִין. הֲדָא הוּא דִכְתִיב, (ירמיה לא) קוֹל בְּרָמָה נִשְׁמָע וְגו’ כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ. לָא בָּעַאת לְקַבָּלָא תַּנְחוּמִין. מַאי טַעְמָא. בְּגִין כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ, כְּיוֹמִין קַדְמָאִין לְאַשְׁרָאָה בֵּינַיְיהוּ, וְהָא אִסְתַּלַּק לְעֵילָא.<\/p>\n וּבְגִין דְּכִי אֵינֶנּוּ בְּגוֹ בְּנָהָא, לָא קַבָּלִית תַּנְחוּמִין, עַד דְּאוֹמֵי לָהּ. דִּכְתִיב, (ירמיה לא) כֹּה אָמַר ה’ מִנְעִי קוֹלֵךְ מִבֶּכִי וְעֵינַיִךְ מִדִּמְעָה.<\/p>\n כְמָה דַּעֲבָדַת רָחֵל, אוּף הָכֵי שְׁכִינְתָּא לְעֵילָא. כְּדִמְתַרְגֵּם קָל בְּרוּם שְׁמַיָּיא אִשְׁתְּמַע, שְׁכִינְתָּא מְבַכָּה עַל בְּנָהָא. בְּהַהִיא שַׁעֲתָא דְּאִיהִי הֲוַת מְבַכָּה, אִתְעָרוּ לְגַבָּהּ שִׁתִּין רִבּוֹא מַשִּׁרְיָין עִילָּאִין, וְכֻלְּהוּ אִיתְעָרוּ בְּכִיָה לְגַבָּהּ.<\/p>\n בְּהַהוּא שַׁעֲתָא, אִשְׁתַּמַּע קָלָא לִרְקִיעַ עֲרָבוֹת, וְאִזְדַּעְזָעוּ מָאתָן אֶלֶף עָלְמִין, דַּהֲווֹ גְנִיזֵי מִן יוֹמָא דְאִתְבְּרֵי עָלְמָא, עַד דְּאִשְׁתְּמַע הַהוּא קָלָא לְרוּם שְׁמַיָּיא. וּמַאן אִיהוּ, דָּא רָקִיעַ כְּעֵין הַקֶּרַח הַנּוֹרָא, דְּאִיהוּ עַל גַּבֵּי הַחַיּוֹת.<\/p>\n עַה דְּאִתְגַּלֵּית אִימָּא לִבְרַתָּא, וְאָמְרָה לָהּ, מִנְּעִי קוֹלֵךְ. כְּדֵין אִתְפָּרְשַׁת מִתַּמָּן, וַאֲזָלַת הִיא וְכָל אוּכְלוּסָהָא בְּגָלוּתָא. וְאִצְטְרִיכוּ לְאִתְבַּדְּרָא לְכַמָּה סִטְרִין, לְמֶהֱוֵי גָלוּתָא לְכוֹלָּא, וְהִיא יָשְׁבָה בָדָד.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n אֵיכָה. רַבִּי פִּנְחָס פָּתַח, (ירמיה לא) קוֹל בְּרָמָה נִשְׁמָע נְהִי בְּכִי תַמְרוּרִים וְגוֹ’. בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁנֶּחֱרַב בֵּית הַמִּקְדָּשׁ וְנִשְׂרַף, בָּא קוֹל וְהִתְעוֹרֵר עַל קִבְרֵי הָאָבוֹת הָרִאשׁוֹנִים, וְאָמַר: אָבוֹת הָרִאשׁוֹנִים, אַתֶּם רְדוּמִים בְּשֵׁנָה, וְאֵינְכֶם יוֹדְעִים עַל צַעַר הָעוֹלָם. בְּנֵיכֶם שֶׁגִּדַּלְתֶּם בְּצַעַר, וְהִכְנַסְתֶּם אוֹתָם לָאֱמוּנָה הָרַבָּה שֶׁל הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, הִנֵּה מֵתוּ, וְהִנֵּה נֶהֶרְגוּ, וְהִנֵּה הָלְכוּ לַגָּלוּת בֵּין שׂוֹנְאֵיהֶם, יְדֵיהֶם מְהֻדָּקוֹת לְאָחוֹר, מֵתִים בָּרָעָב, בָּתֵּיהֶם נִשְׂרְפוּ. אַיֵּה הָרַחֲמִים שֶׁלָּכֶם? אַיֵּה אֱמוּנַתְכֶם? קוּמוּ הִתְעוֹרְרוּ אֲלֵיהֶם!<\/p>\n מִיָּד הִתְעוֹרְרוּ הָאָבוֹת וְהָאִמָּהוֹת וְהָלְכוּ אֶל מֹשֶׁה. אָמְרוּ לוֹ: מֹשֶׁה הָרוֹעֶה הַנֶּאֱמָן, אֵיפֹה הַבָּנִים? אֵיפֹה הִשְׁאַרְתָּ אוֹתָם? מִיָּד הִתְעוֹרֵר מֹשֶׁה, וְהָלַךְ עִמָּהֶם אֶל יְהוֹשֻׁעַ. אָמַר לוֹ: בְּנֵי הָאָבוֹת הַלָּלוּ, בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, שֶׁהִפְקִיד אוֹתִי הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא עֲלֵיהֶם, וְהִשְׁאַרְתִּי אוֹתָם בְּיָדְךָ, אֵיפֹה הֵם?<\/p>\n הֵשִׁיב יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְאָמַר: רַבֵּנוּ מֹשֶׁה, בָּאָרֶץ הַקְּדוֹשָׁה הִשְׁאַרְתִּי אוֹתָם, וְחִלַּקְתִּי לָהֶם הָאָרֶץ עַל פִּי גוֹרָל, כְּמוֹ שֶׁצִּוִּיתַנִי, וְכֻלָּם הִשְׁאַרְתִּי אִישׁ עַל נַחֲלָתוֹ וְעַל גּוֹרָלוֹ.<\/p>\n וּמִיָּד הָלְכוּ כֻּלָּם לָאָרֶץ הַקְּדוֹשָׁה, וּמָצְאוּ אוֹתָהּ שֶׁנֶּחֶרְבָה, שֶׁאֵין נִשְׁמָע בָּהּ קוֹל. נִכְנְסוּ לַמִּקְדָּשׁ, וְרָאוּ שֶׁנִּשְׂרַף. עָשׂוּ בוֹ הֶסְפֵּד, עַד שֶׁנִּשְׁמַע קוֹל מְרִירוּת הַבְּכִיָּה לְרוּם הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְכָל הַמַּלְאָכִים הָעֶלְיוֹנִים בָּכוּ עִמָּהֶם לְמַעְלָה.<\/p>\n הִתְעוֹרֵר הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא וּבָא אֲלֵיהֶם, וּמָצָא אוֹתָם מְמָרְרִים בְּקוֹל בְּכִיָּה בְּתוֹךְ עֲפַר הַמִּקְדָּשׁ. אָמַר לָהֶם: אֲהוּבֵי נַפְשִׁי, מָה אַתֶּם כָּאן? (ירמיה יא) מֶה לִידִידִי בְּבֵיתִי?<\/p>\n קָם אַבְרָהָם הַזָּקֵן בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה, אָמַר לִפְנֵי רִבּוֹן הָעוֹלָם: אַתָּה יָדַעְתָּ שֶׁהָלַכְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ בְּדֶרֶךְ אֱמֶת. עֶשֶׂר פְּעָמִים נִסִּיתָ אוֹתִי, וְעָמַדְתִּי בַּכֹּל. אֵיפֹה הֵם בָּנַי? לֹא שָׁמַעְתִּי קוֹל דִּבְרֵיהֶם בָּאָרֶץ שֶׁנִּשְׁבַּעְתָּ לִי לְקַיֵּם אוֹתָם בָּהּ.<\/p>\n אָמַר לוֹ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא: אֵי אַבְרָהָם אֲהוּב נַפְשִׁי, (שם) וּבְשַׂר קֹדֶשׁ יַעַבְרוּ מֵעָלַיִךְ. בִּטְּלוּ מֵהֶם בְּרִית הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְעָבְדוּ לַעֲבוֹדָה זָרָה, וְעַל כֵּן הִתְגַּבֵּר רֻגְזִי עֲלֵיהֶם, וּבִגְלָלְךָ חִכִּיתִי לָהֶם כַּמָּה פְעָמִים, וְלֹא שָׁבוּ לְפָנַי.<\/p>\n כֵּיוָן שֶׁשָּׁמַע אַבְרָהָם כָּךְ, אָמַר: יִמָּחוּ עַל קְדֻשַּׁת שִׁמְךָ כָּל אוֹתָם חֲטָאֵיהֶם בֵּין הָעַמִּים, עַד שֶׁיִּהְיֶה רְצוֹנְךָ לַהֲשִׁיבָם אֵלֶיךָ. וְכֵן כֻּלָּם כְּמוֹ זֶה, וְהָלְכוּ לָהֶם.<\/p>\n נִשְׁאֲרָה שָׁם רָחֵל, וְהֵרִימָה קוֹל בְּכִיָּה בִּמְרִירוּת שֶׁל תַּמְרוּרִים. אָמַר לָהּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא: רָחֵל, מָה אַתְּ מְבַכָּה? אָמְרָה לְפָנָיו: וְלֹא אֶבְכֶּה?! אֵיפֹה הֵם בָּנַי, וּמֶה חָטְאוּ אֵלֶיךָ? אָמַר לָהּ: הִכְנִיסוּ צָרָתִי לְפָנַי, וְהִכְנִיסוּהָ לְבֵיתִי. מִיָּד אָמְרָה: וְכִי אֲנִי לֹא עָשִׂיתִי יוֹתֵר, שֶׁהִכְנַסְתִּי צָרָתִי לְבֵיתִי?!<\/p>\n שֶׁשָּׁנִינוּ, בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁכָּתוּב (בראשית כט) וַיַּגֵּד יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל כִּי אֲחִי אָבִיהָ הוּא, אָמַר: הֲתִזְדַּוְּגִי לִי? אָמְרָה לוֹ: כֵּן, אֲבָל אָחוֹת יֵשׁ לִי קְשִׁישָׁה מִמֶּנִּי, וַאֲנִי פוֹחֶדֶת מֵאַבָּא, שֶׁהוּא רַמַּאי. מִיָּד – וַיַּגֵּד יַעֲקֹב לְרָחֵל כִּי אֲחִי אָבִיהָ הוּא, בְּרַמָּאוּת.<\/p>\n מִיָּד נָתַן לָהּ סִימָנִים. כֵּיוָן שֶׁנִּכְנְסָה לֵאָה בְּאוֹתוֹ הַלַּיְלָה, אָמְרָה רָחֵל, כָּעֵת תִּתְבַּיֵּשׁ אֲחוֹתִי. הָלְכָה וּמָסְרָה לָהּ הַסִּימָנִים.<\/p>\n וְעַל זֶה אָמְרָה אֶל הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא: וַאֲנִי לֹא עָשִׂיתִי יוֹתֵר, שֶׁהִכְנַסְתִּי צָרָתִי לְבֵיתִי?! וְאַתָּה, שֶׁכָּתוּב בְּךָ רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם, הָיָה לְךָ לְהַעֲבִיר עַל חֲטָאֵיהֶם.<\/p>\n וּבְכָל מַה שֶּׁאָמַר לָהּ – לֹא קִבְּלָה תַנְחוּמִים. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב (ירמיה לא) קוֹל בְּרָמָה נִשְׁמָע וְגוֹ’ כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ. לֹא רוֹצָה לְקַבֵּל תַּנְחוּמִים. מָה הַטַּעַם? מִשּׁוּם כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ, כַּיָּמִים הָרִאשׁוֹנִים לִשְׁרוֹת בֵּינֵיהֶם, וַהֲרֵי הִסְתַּלֵּק לְמַעְלָה.<\/p>\n וּמִשּׁוּם שֶׁכִּי אֵינֶנּוּ בְּתוֹךְ בָּנֶיהָ, לֹא מְקַבֶּלֶת תַּנְחוּמִים, עַד שֶׁנִּשְׁבַּע לָהּ, שֶׁכָּתוּב (שם) כֹּה אָמַר ה’ מִנְעִי קוֹלֵךְ מִבֶּכִי וְעֵינַיִךְ מִדִּמְעָה.<\/p>\n כְּמוֹ שֶׁעָשְׂתָה רָחֵל – אַף כָּךְ הַשְּׁכִינָה לְמַעְלָה. כְּפִי שֶׁמְּתַרְגֵּם, קוֹל נִשְׁמָע בְּרוּם הַשָּׁמַיִם, הַשְּׁכִינָה מְבַכָּה עַל בָּנֶיהָ. בְּאוֹתָהּ הַשָּׁעָה שֶׁהִיא הָיְתָה מְבַכָּה, הִתְעוֹרְרוּ אֵלֶיהָ שִׁשִּׁים רִבּוֹא מַחֲנוֹת עֶלְיוֹנִים, וְכֻלָּם הֵעִירוּ אֵלֶיהָ בְּכִיָּה.<\/p>\n בְּאוֹתָהּ הַשָּׁעָה נִשְׁמַע קוֹל לָרָקִיעַ עֲרָבוֹת, וְהִזְדַּעְזְעוּ מָאתַיִם אֶלֶף עוֹלָמוֹת שֶׁהָיוּ גְנוּזִים מִיּוֹם שֶׁנִּבְרָא הָעוֹלָם, עַד שֶׁנִּשְׁמַע אוֹתוֹ הַקּוֹל לְרוּם הַשָּׁמַיִם. וּמִי הוּא? זֶה הָרָקִיעַ כְּעֵין הַקֶּרַח הַנּוֹרָא, שֶׁהוּא עַל גַּבֵּי הַחַיּוֹת.<\/p>\n עַד שֶׁהִתְגַּלְּתָה הָאֵם לְבִתָּהּ, וְאָמְרָה לָהּ: מִנְעִי קוֹלֵךְ. אָז נִפְרְדָה מִשָּׁם, וְהָלְכָה הִיא וְכָל אוּכְלוּסֶיהָ לַגָּלוּת, וְהִצְטָרְכוּ לְהִתְפַּזֵּר לְכַמָּה צְדָדִים, שֶׁתִּהְיֶה גָלוּת לַכֹּל, וְהִיא יָשְׁבָה בָדָד.<\/p><\/div>\n Rabbi Pinchas<\/a> opened and quoted (Jeremiah 31) “A voice is heard in Ramah (higher place), lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel (the matriarch) is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.”.<\/p>\n When the Holy Temple was destroyed and burnt, a voice came upon the graves of the patriarchs and said: “Fathers, you are asleep and you don’t know about the sadness in the world. Your sons that you raised with pain and brought them into the great faith<\/a> of the Holy one Bless be He, are dead and killed and went to exile among their enemies. Their hands are tied behind their backs, dying in hunger and their homes burnt. Where is your mercy? Where is your faith<\/a>? Wake up, rise for them.<\/p>\n The patriarchs and matriarchs woke up and went to Moses. Told him: “Moses, the faithful Shepherd<\/a>, Where is our children?” Where did you leave them? Moses woke up and went with them to Joshua. Moses spoke to him: “The Children of Israel<\/a>, the sons of these fathers that the Holy one Bless Be He trusted me with them and I left them with you, where are they?”<\/p>\n Joshua answered saying: “Moses, our master, I left them in the Holy Land. I divided the land for them as I was ordered by you and left them each on his land and his destiny.<\/p>\n They all went to the Holy Land and found it destroyed and no sound was heard. They went into the Holy Temple and saw that it was burnt. They sat in mourning until the sound of their bitter cry reached the highest level in the sky and all the angels in the higher levels cried with them.<\/p>\n The Holy One awakened and came to them. He found them bitterly crying in the dust of the Holy Temple and said to them: “Beloved of my soul, what are you doing here? (Jeremiah 11:15<\/a>) “What My beloved to do in My house”<\/p>\n Abraham the oldest stood first and said before the creator of the world: “You know that I walked on your path of truth. You tested me ten times and I passed all of them. Where are my sons? I couldn’t hear the sound of their words in the land that you sworn to me to keep them in it.<\/p>\n The Holy one Bless be He said: “Abraham, beloved of my soul, (Jeremiah 11:15<\/a>) “Can their vows and sacrifices prevent their destruction?”. They ignored the Holy covenant and turned to idol worshiping. For that reason my anger grew on them. Because of you I waited for them several times but they didn’t repent.<\/p>\n When Abraham heard these words from God he said:”with the power of your holy name, let their sins be cleansed among the nations until the time you wish to bring them back to you”. The rest of the fathers followed Abraham and they left.”<\/p>\n Only Rachel stayed there and raised her voice with great bitter cries. The Holy one asked her: “Rachel, what are you crying about?”<\/p>\n She answered him: “Why shouldn’t I cry?! Where are my sons, and what was their sins?”. God answered: “They brought troubles (צרה also means the second wife, Lea) into my house, she replied immediately: “Didnt I do more when I allowed the second wife (Lea) to come into my house (of Jacob)”.<\/p>\n We studied that when Jacob said (Genesis 29:12<\/a>) “And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s brother” he was asking her to marry him. She said “yes, but I have an older sister and I fear that my father (Lavan) who is a cheater”. Then Jacob said immediately that he is her father’s brother in deception and gave her signs to recognize each other. Since her sister, Lea, was ready for marriage, Rachel didn’t what her to experience shame when her younger sister got married before her so she went and gave her the signs agreed with Jacob.<\/p>\n That is why she told God “didnt I do more when I allowed a second wife to come into my house” and you that it is written that you are compassionate, long-suffering, and abundant in mercy, You should have passed on their sins.<\/p>\n Rachel did a great sacrifice because as the first wife, Lea, received a higher level and she brought the aspect of Binah<\/a> in the Marriage to Jacob, who is the chariot<\/a> for the central column and Rachel, the second, brought the aspect of Malchut<\/a> . She was barren for many years and made more sacrifices so Jacob could have children from Lea’s side.<\/p>\n She didn’t take comfort in anything God told her. As it is written (Jeremiah 31:14<\/a>) “This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because he is no more.”. Why is she refusing to be comforted? The Zohar explains that it is because “he is no more”, meaning that God is no longer among them as he went back up.<\/p>\n Since he is not with her children, she won’t accept comfort, until he swore to her (Jeremiah 31:15<\/a>) “This is what the LORD says: “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the LORD. “They will return from the land of the enemy”.<\/p>\n The same way Rachel did, so did the Shechina as it said קול ברמה נשמע , the voice was heard in the highest level of heavens. The Shechina was crying for her children. When she was crying sixty thousand camps of angels awakened to her, weeping.<\/p>\n Sixty represents the six Sefirot of Zeir Anpin<\/a> that connects Malchut<\/a>, that is the lower Shechina with Binah<\/a>, that is the upper Shechina. This means that all the levels feel the lack of the Light and desire its full presence.<\/p>\n At that time a voice was heard in the top level of heavens, called Aravot, and two hundred thousand worlds that were concealed from the day of Creation, shook. Then the voice that was sound on the highest level was the heaven that is like (Ezekiel 1:22<\/a>) “the terrible ice” that is above the Holy creatures of the Holy Throne. Then the mother<\/a> was revealed to her daughter and told her “Restrain your voice from weeping” and went away with all her people to the exile.
