\n817. וְסֻכָּה תִּהְיֶה לְצֵל יוֹמָם (ישעיה ד), שֶׁצָּרִיךְ סְכָךְ. וּסְכָךְ נַעֲשֶׂה לְצֵל, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בּוֹ (תהלים צא) בְּצֵל שַׁדַּי יִתְלוֹנָן. וְלֹא בְצֵל סֻכַּת הֶדְיוֹט, שֶׁמֵּגֵן עַל הַגּוּף מִשֶּׁמֶשׁ. אֶלָּא צֵל לְהָגֵן עַל הַנְּשָׁמָה, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שיר השירים ב) בְּצִלּוֹ חִמַּדְתִּי וְיָשַׁבְתִּי. Isaiah 4:6<\/a>
\n“וְסֻכָּה תִּהְיֶה לְצֵל-יוֹמָם, מֵחֹרֶב; וּלְמַחְסֶה, וּלְמִסְתּוֹר, מִזֶּרֶם, וּמִמָּטָר”
\n” There will be a shelter (Sukkah) to give shade (צל) from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.”<\/p>\n

Psalms 91:1<\/a>
\n” בְּצֵל שַׁדַּי, יִתְלוֹנָן ”
\n” …abide in the shadow (צל) of the Almighty”<\/p>\n

The סככ of the Sukkah is the branches that cover it. It brings a special shade that is the shadow of God that protects our souls. The word shadowצל with the letter ם create the word צלם. The letter ם is constructed from four Vavs וווו that represent the four walls of the Sukkah.<\/p>\n

Psalms 39:7<\/a>
\n” אַךְ-בְּצֶלֶם, יִתְהַלֶּךְ-אִישׁ”
\n” Surely a man walks in a shadow!”
\nGenesis 1:27<\/a>
\n” וַיִּבְרָא אֱלֹהִים אֶת-הָאָדָם בְּצַלְמוֹ, בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים בָּרָא אֹתוֹ”
\n“And God created man in his own image, in the image (shadow, צלם) of God he created him;”<\/p>\n

Shadow, Image, צֶלֶם, is numerically 160, same as עץ ‘tree’, which is the aspect of the Ten Sefirot and the Tree of Life<\/a>.
\nThe Endless, bless be He started his creation by forming the Ten Sefirot that created the world of Adam Kadmon that is part of the Endless and from that came the world of Atziluth. Everything in creation is part of the ten Sefirot and includes ten sefirot in itself. YHVH<\/a> has ten Sefirot so it is another aspect of ‘shadow’ of the Endless. YHVH<\/a> has no shape or image as we define in the physical world but everything is driven by the government of the Ten Sefirot.<\/p>\n

Our physical body is the ‘shadow’ of the Ten Sefirot. The head is the aspect of the upper three Sefirot of Keter<\/a>, Chokmah<\/a> and Binah<\/a>. Keter<\/a> is a spiritual point above the head that makes the connection between the spiritual levels and the physical existence. Chokmah<\/a> and Binah<\/a> are the right and left brain. They are concealed but they control all the functions of the body that is the aspect of the lower seven Sefirot.<\/p>\n

The Sukkah is a holy place that gives us a direct connection to the Tree of Life<\/a>. When the Holiday comes we should find shelter under its shade because after this study of the Zohar we know how important it is. <\/p>\n
