8. אָמַר ה’. לֶעָתִיד לָבֹא עָתִיד הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא לְהִתְעוֹרֵר וּלְהָשִׁיב מִבָּשָׁן כָּל אוֹתָם שֶׁהֲרָגוּם חַיּוֹת הַשָּׂדֶה וְאָכְלוּ אוֹתָם. מִשּׁוּם שֶׁיֵּשׁ בָּעוֹלָם (אַף כָּאן מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן) מְקוֹם מוֹשָׁב שֶׁל כָּל חַיּוֹת גְּדוֹלוֹת וְהָרִים רָמִים וּגְדוֹלִים וְנִסְתָּרִים אֵלּוּ בְאֵלּוּ, וַעֲרֹד הַמִּדְבָּר הַתַּקִּיף שָׁם, הוּא עוֹג, (בֵּין) עֲרוֹדֵי הַמִּדְבָּר הָיָה, וּמָצוּי שָׁם כֹּחוֹ, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהָיָה מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן, שֶׁכָּל מַלְכֵי הָעוֹלָם לֹא יָכְלוּ לַעֲרֹךְ נֶגְדּוֹ קְרָב בִּגְלַל חֹזֶק הַבָּשָׁן, וּבָא מֹשֶׁה וְעָרַךְ נֶגְדּוֹ קְרָב.
\n9. סִיחוֹן – סְיָח בַּמִּדְבָּר הָיָה סִיחוֹן, וּבִטְחוֹן מוֹאָב הָיָה עָלָיו, (במדבר כא) כִּי אַרְנוֹן גְּבוּל מוֹאָב בֵּין מוֹאָב וּבֵין הָאֱמֹרִי. בֹּא וּרְאֵה, בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁהֶחֱרִיבוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל עִיר סִיחוֹן, הָעֳבַר כְּרוּז בְּמַלְכוּת הַשָּׁמַיִם: הִתְכַּנְּסוּ גְבָרִים שֶׁשּׁוֹלְטִים עַל שְׁאָר עַמִּים, וְתִרְאוּ אֵיךְ מַלְכוּת הָאֱמֹרִי תֵּחָרֵב בַּמַּלְכוּת.
\n10. בְּאוֹתָהּ שָׁעָה כָּל אוֹתָם שַׁלִּיטִים שֶׁהָיוּ מְמֻנִּים עַל שִׁבְעָה עֲמָמִים הִתְכַּנְּסוּ, וְרָצוּ לְהַחֲזִיר מַלְכוּת לְיָשְׁנָהּ. כֵּיוָן שֶׁרָאוּ עָצְמַת מֹשֶׁה, חָזְרוּ לְאָחוֹר. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב (שם) עַל כֵּן יֹאמְרוּ הַמֹּשְׁלִים בֹּאוּ חֶשְׁבּוֹן. אוֹתָם שַׁלִּיטִים הַמְמֻנִּים עֲלֵיהֶם שֶׁהִתְכַּנְּסוּ וְאָמְרוּ בֹּאוּ חֶשְׁבּוֹן, מִי הוּא זֶה שֶׁהֶחֱרִיבָהּ? תִּבָּנֶה וְתִכּוֹנֵן כְּבַתְּחִלָּה, וְתַחֲזֹר מַלְכוּת לְיָשְׁנָהּ.<\/div>\n

Zohar Balak<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moses sent peaceful messengers to Sihon, the king of the Amorites, asking for a permission to pass through their land on their way to the Promised Land. Sihon didn’t allow them and dared to gather his people and go to war against the Israelites<\/a>. The Israelites<\/a> won the war and took over their land.
\nImmediately after, another powerful king, Og, the king of Bashan came out to fight the Israelites<\/a> but their end was the same as Amorites’. Og was a giant that only Moses could kill him with the help of God.
\nThe above story is in Numbers 21.<\/p>\n

In Deuteronomy 2 Moses repeats the story of Sihon and Og to remind the Israelites<\/a> that God gave them the power to overcome two powerful nations:
\nNumbers 21:34<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, אַל-תִּירָא אֹתוֹ–כִּי בְיָדְךָ נָתַתִּי אֹתוֹ וְאֶת-כָּל-עַמּוֹ, וְאֶת-אַרְצוֹ; וְעָשִׂיתָ לּוֹ–כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתָ לְסִיחֹן מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי, אֲשֶׁר יוֹשֵׁב בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן”
\n“But YHVH<\/a> said to Moses: “Do not fear him, for I have given him into your hand, and all his people, and his land. And you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”<\/p>\n

This story is found in the portion of Chukat. The portion of Balak that follows Chukat tells us the story of failure of the Israelites<\/a>. If it wasn’t for Pinchas, they would have lost the God’s support.<\/p>\n

Read the stories and the portion of Balak. In the next DZ I will explain why God supported us against mighty enemies but not against the Midianaite women that caused the death of twenty four thousand people.<\/p>\n
