1. הַאֲזִינוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם וַאֲדַבֵּרָה וְתִשְׁמַע הָאָרֶץ אִמְרֵי פִי (דברים לב). רַבִּי יְהוּדָה פָּתַח, (שיר השירים ה) פָּתַחְתִּי אֲנִי לְדוֹדִי וְדוֹדִי חָמַק עָבָר וְגוֹ’, בִּקַּשְׁתִּיהוּ וְלֹא מְצָאתִיהוּ קְרָאתִיו וְלֹא עָנָנִי. מַה כָּתוּב לְמַעְלָה? אֲנִי יְשֵׁנָה וְלִבִּי עֵר וְגוֹ’. אֲנִי יְשֵׁנָה. אָמְרָה כְּנֶסֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲנִי יְשֵׁנָה – מִמִּצְווֹת הַתּוֹרָה, בִּזְמַן שֶׁהָלַכְתִּי בַמִּדְבָּר. וְלִבִּי עֵר – לַעֲלוֹת לָאָרֶץ, לַעֲשׂוֹת אוֹתָם (חוֹבוֹת), שֶׁהֲרֵי כָּל מִצְווֹת הַתּוֹרָה נִמְצָאוֹת בָּאָרֶץ. קוֹל דּוֹדִי דוֹפֵק – זֶה מֹשֶׁה, שֶׁהוֹכִיחַ לָהֶם לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכַמָּה וִכּוּחִים, בְּכַמָּה מְרִיבוֹת, שֶׁכָּתוּב (דברים א) אֵלֶּה הַדְּבָרִים וְגוֹ’, (שם ט) מַמְרִים הֱיִיתֶם וְגוֹ’, (שם) וּבְחֹרֵב הִקְצַפְתֶּם וְגוֹ’. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב דּוֹפֵק.
\n2. וְעִם כָּל זֶה שֶׁמֹּשֶׁה הוֹכִיחַ לָהֶם לְיִשְׂרָאֵל, בְּאַהֲבָה הָיוּ כָּל דְּבָרָיו, שֶׁכָּתוּב (דברים ז) כִּי עַם קָדוֹשׁ אַתָּה לַה’ אֱלֹהֶיךָ, (שם יד) וּבְךָ בָּחַר ה’ אֱלֹהֶיךָ לִהְיוֹת לוֹ לְעַם וְגוֹ’, בָּנִים אַתֶּם לַה’ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם, (שם ד) וְאַתֶּם הַדְּבֵקִים בַּה’. וְעַל זֶה (שם כז) וְשָׁמַעְתָּ בְּקוֹל ה’ אֱלֹהֶיךָ. Zohar Ha’azinu<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deuteronomy 32:1<\/a>
\n“הַאֲזִינוּ הַשָּׁמַיִם, וַאֲדַבֵּרָה; וְתִשְׁמַע הָאָרֶץ, אִמְרֵי-פִי. ”
\n“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak, and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.”
\nThis verse opens the last words of Moses before he leaves the world. He calls on the heaven and earth to listen and hear the words of his mouth. Moses knows that he’s about to leave the world and he creates for us a supernal<\/a> gate that we can use. The Torah scroll itself has the shape of a gate.<\/p>\n

\"haazinu-gate\"<\/p>\n

The Zohar quotes many verses from the Song of Songs to tell us about the concealed holiness of Moses’s words. Rabbi Akiva said that the writings of the Bible are Holy and the Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies.
\nSong of Songs 5:2<\/a>
\n“… פִּתְחִי-לִי אֲחֹתִי רַעְיָתִי יוֹנָתִי תַמָּתִי”
\n“Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one…,”<\/p>\n

The Zohar tells us that even though Moses scolded the nation for their sins and warned them about the future, all his words came from love as he said;
\nDeuteronomy 7:6<\/a>
\n“ כִּי עַם קָדוֹשׁ אַתָּה, לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ: בְּךָ בָּחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, לִהְיוֹת לוֹ לְעַם סְגֻלָּה, מִכֹּל הָעַמִּים, אֲשֶׁר עַל-פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה”
\n““For you are a people holy to YHVH<\/a> your God. YHVH<\/a> your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”<\/p>\n

The description of the last day of Rabbi Shimon is in the Idra Zuta that is part of the Zohar Ha’azinu. Before he leaves the world, Rabbi Shimon also calls on the heaven and earth in a similar way as Moses. I will describe and explain in the next articles.<\/p>\n
