\n9. רַבִּי יִצְחָק פָּתַח, (שיר השירים ב) כְּתַפּוּחַ בַּעֲצֵי הַיַּעַר וְגוֹ’. אַשְׁרֵי חֶלְקָם שֶׁל יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכָּל אֻמּוֹת עוֹבְדֵי כּוֹכָבִים וּמַזָּלוֹת, שֶׁהֲרֵי כָּל שְׁאָר הָאֻמּוֹת נִתְּנוּ לְשָׂרִים מְמֻנִּים שַׁלִּיטִים עֲלֵיהֶם. וְיִשְׂרָאֵל קְדוֹשִׁים, אַשְׁרֵי חֶלְקָם בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה וּבָעוֹלָם הַבָּא, שֶׁלֹּא נָתַן אוֹתָם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא לֹא לְמַלְאָךְ וְלֹא לְשַׁלִּיט אַחֵר, אֶלָּא הוּא יִחֵד אוֹתָם לְחֶלְקוֹ. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב כִּי חֵלֶק ה’ עַמּוֹ, וְכָתוּב (תהלים קלה) כִּי יַעֲקֹב בָּחַר לוֹ יָהּ. כְּתַפּוּחַ בַּעֲצֵי הַיַּעַר, מַה תַּפּוּחַ מִתְחַלֵּק בִּגְוָנָיו עַל כָּל שְׁאָר עֲצֵי הַשָּׂדֶה, כָּךְ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מִתְחַלֵּק וְנִרְשָׁם עַל כָּל חֲיָלוֹת עֶלְיוֹנִים וְתַחְתּוֹנִים, מִשּׁוּם זֶה (ישעיה מח) ה’ צְבָאוֹת שְׁמוֹ, אוֹת הוּא בְּכָל צָבָא שֶׁל מַעְלָה.<\/div>\n

Rosh Hashanah<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yesterday I was in court because of a speeding ticket. I was never caught speeding because I am always careful on the road and may go over the speed limit to match the speed of the traffic on the road. It doesn’t matter the circumstances but this time I got a speeding ticket after 25 years of clean driving record. Few parking tickets but no moving violations. I accepted a plea, got reduced points and paid the full fine. The bottom line I was happy because it was so close to Rosh Hashanah.
\nWhy do I tell you that?
\nThe main reason is to give you an important spiritual lesson. No matter how bad was last year for us, we should accept all that happened as a correction and cleansing of our past impurities. If we come this year to the heavenly court complaining about our tough year and demand or expect a better year then we are wrong. We should look at past experiences as opportunities for cleansing and embrace them. When the court looks at our current case and sees that we are accepting our previous judgments then we don’t need to repeat the lesson. The next year will be much easier for us.<\/p>\n

If you have a wonderful and successful year it doesn’t mean that you finished your Tikkun and God is on your side. Your success may have been a test to see if you understand that everything is from God and you use the energy your receive wisely or used it selfishly. Be thankful and promise yourself to be a greater sharing person. The energy we receive in this world is only greater opportunity to better our souls, not our bank account. More money equal more power to do better for other. When we die we take with us only the garments of our souls. It is done only with good study of the Zohar and sharing acts.<\/p>\n

I want to share something I learned from Rabbi Benayahu Smueli, head of “Nehar Shalom”, נהר שלום, a Yeshiva<\/a> for the study of Kabbalah in Jerusalem<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He quoted Rabbi Shimon from the Zohar with the explanation of the verse from Psalms 89:16<\/a> ” אַשְׁרֵי הָעָם, יֹדְעֵי תְרוּעָה; יְהוָה, בְּאוֹר-פָּנֶיךָ יְהַלֵּכוּן”
\n“Blessed is the people that knows your joyful sound (תְרוּעָה)! YHVH<\/a>, they will walk in the light of your face!”<\/p>\n

תרועה , ‘Teruah<\/a>’, has the letters for ‘Torah’ תורה and ע. The letter ע has numerical value of 70. The verse reveals that blessed are those who study the Torah on all of its 70 levels, which is what the Zohar teaches us. The verse talks about the people that ‘know’ and not those who can ‘hear’ the Shofar<\/a>. To ‘know’ is ‘to connect’ and it is related to the Sefirah of Da’at that connects Chokmah<\/a> and Binah<\/a> of the upper spiritual levels.<\/p>\n

The outcome of this connection is explained in the second part of the verse. “YHVH<\/a> , they will walk in the light of your face (פנים). The word פנים also means ‘inner’. When we study the Zohar it is like blowing the Shofar<\/a> with Teruah<\/a> that breaks and confuses the negative side.
