Zohar Noah<\/strong><\/p>\n

Genesis 5:29<\/a>
\n“וַיִּקְרָא אֶת<\/em>-שְׁמוֹ נֹחַ<\/strong>, לֵאמֹר: זֶה יְנַחֲמֵנוּ מִמַּעֲשֵׂנוּ, וּמֵעִצְּבוֹן יָדֵינוּ, מִן-הָאֲדָמָה, אֲשֶׁר אֵרְרָהּ יְהוָה”
\n“and called his name Noah, saying, “Out of the ground that YHVH<\/a> has cursed, this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.””<\/p>\n

Genesis 25:26<\/a>
\n“וְאַחֲרֵי-כֵן יָצָא אָחִיו, וְיָדוֹ אֹחֶזֶת בַּעֲקֵב עֵשָׂו, וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ, יַעֲקֹב<\/strong>; וְיִצְחָק בֶּן-שִׁשִּׁים שָׁנָה, בְּלֶדֶת אֹתָם.”
\n“Afterward his brother came out with his hand holding Esau’s heel, so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.”<\/p>\n

The English translation cannot show or reveal the secrets of the difference in the naming of Noah and Jacob. The Zohar explains that the letters את in the naming of Noah connect him to the Shechina. Noah’s father named him with a prophecy that Noah’s future actions and connection to the ground. Noah’s connection and righteousness was related to the lower levels.<\/p>\n

Jacob was named with connection to the higher level. He was name Jacob יעקב . עקב because he was holding the heel עקב of his brother and י Y that connected him to the highest spiritual levels. The Y י also puts Jacob spiritually before his brother, Esau.<\/p>\n

The Zohar also reveals to us that God puts the names in the mouth of the fathers. They become like prophets, revealing the future of the person through his name.<\/p>\n

This brings us back to the previous study and the verse from Psalms 46:9<\/a>
\n“לְכוּ-חֲזוּ, מִפְעֲלוֹת יְהוָה– אֲשֶׁר-שָׂם שַׁמּוֹת בָּאָרֶץ”
\n“Come, behold the works of YHVH<\/a>, how he has brought desolations (שַׁמּוֹת) on the earth.”
\nIt should be read as “Come, behold the works of YHVH<\/a>, how he has brought names to the earth.”<\/p>\n

The end of paragraph 15 of Zohar Noah clearly states
\n“אֲשֶׁר שָׂם שַׁמּוֹת, שֵׁמוֹת וַדַּאי, דְּהָא שְׁמָא גָּרִים לְכֹלָּא”
\n“the name is the cause of everything”.<\/p>\n
