1. וַיִּהְיוּ חַיֵּי שָׂרָה מֵאָה שָׁנָה וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וְשֶׁבַע שָׁנִים. רַבִּי יוֹסֵי פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (יונה א) וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֶת יוֹנָה וַיְטִלֻהוּ אֶל הַיָּם וַיַּעֲמֹד הַיָּם מִזַּעְפּוֹ. כָּאן יֵשׁ לְהִסְתַּכֵּל מָה הַטַּעַם הִרְעִישׁ הַיָּם עַל יוֹנָה וְלֹא הִרְעִישָׁה הָאָרֶץ עָלָיו, כֵּיוָן שֶׁהָיָה הוֹלֵךְ כְּדֵי שֶׁלֹּא תִשְׁרֶה עָלָיו הַשְּׁכִינָה? לָמָּה הַיָּם [הָעֶלְיוֹן] הָיָה אוֹחֵז בּוֹ כְּשֶׁהָיָה הוֹלֵךְ?

Zohar Chayei Sarah<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jonah 1:15<\/a>
\n“וַיִּשְׂאוּ, אֶת-יוֹנָה, וַיְטִלֻהוּ, אֶל-הַיָּם; וַיַּעֲמֹד הַיָּם, מִזַּעְפּוֹ.”
\n“So they picked up Jonah, threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped its raging.”<\/p>\n

The Zohar portion of Chaye Sarah has many discussions about the process of the soul in this life and in the afterlife.
\nAs Kabbalah students, we learned that we come to this life with a Tikkun, a correction process<\/a> that we must follow in order to better our souls.<\/p>\n

The story of Jonah as the Zohar reveals to us is about the process of the soul in this life. We cannot run away from our process of correction. God puts us in this world to fulfill our missing.<\/p>\n

If we do not follow it then we bring chaos onto ourselves and on the people around us. Jonah tried to avoid following God’s plan for him by leaving his home, taking a ship to another land.<\/p>\n

The verse above and the Zohar teach us that if we do not work on our Tikkun judgment will follow us wherever we go. If we have issues with neighbors or people at work, we should work to resolve those issues because moving to a different city or changing work environment will not resolve the issues.<\/p>\n

In addition, we should pay attention to our environment and avoid people who carry judgment related to their Tikkun.<\/p>\n
