4. כֵּיוָן שֶׁנִּזְרַק בַּיָּם, פָּרְחָה מִמֶּנּוּ נִשְׁמָתוֹ וְעָלְתָה עַד כִּסֵּא הַמֶּלֶךְ וְנִדּוֹנָה לְפָנָיו, וְחָזְרָה לוֹ נִשְׁמָתוֹ, וְנִכְנַס בְּפִי הַדָּג הַהוּא וּמֵת הַדָּג. לְאַחַר מִכֵּן הִתְקַיֵּם אוֹתוֹ הַדָּג, וּפֵרְשׁוּהָ.

Zohar Chaye Sarah<\/strong>

Jonah realized that the stormy sea was the result of his actions. He took the responsibility for the storm he brought on the people. He then asked them to throw him over board to disconnect from his judgment. The Zohar reveals that after they threw Jonah into the sea his soul left his body, went up to be judged for his actions, and came back to him when the great fish swallowed him. The fish itself died and came back to life to keep Jonah alive in his belly.<\/p>\n

The Zohar explains that when a person goes to sleep his soul leaves the body. The King judges him in the heavenly court. If the soul has merits it comes back to life and returns to the body.
\nThe court does not judge the soul from the evil it did before that day and not for the evil it will do in the future. The court judges the soul for the good it will do in the future.
\nAfter few more troubles Jonah accepted the mission assigned to him by God and it was a success. That is why the Zohar brought this explanation.<\/p>\n

We read the book of Jonah on Yom Kippur afternoon. The reading helps our soul and reminds the court above that we need the positive judgment so we can do good in the future.
\nBefore we go to sleep we have few meditations that prepare our souls when leaving the body for the night’s sleep. A good preparation of spiritual cleansing and planning positive future action help the soul in having a successful journey, receiving good messages, and rejuvenating energy.<\/p>\n

The minimal meditation is the Shmea Israel prayer<\/a>, Ana B’Koach<\/a>, confessing on the ‘bad’ we did during the day and fix it with meditation and planning positive actions of correction. Ends with the verse from Psalms 31:6<\/a>
