15. אֶלָּא כָּךְ שָׁנִינוּ, בְּשָׁעָה הַזּוֹ שֶׁנִּכְפְּתוּ לִפֹּל בָּאֵשׁ, כָּל אֶחָד הֵרִים קוֹלוֹ וְאָמַר אֶל כָּל אוֹתָם עַמִּים וּמְלָכִים וְשָׂרִים. חֲנַנְיָה אָמַר, (תהלים קיח) ה’ לִי לֹא אִירָא מַה יַּעֲשֶׂה לִי אָדָם ה’ לִי בְּעֹזְרָי וַאֲנִי אֶרְאֶה בְשֹׂנְאָי טוֹב לַחֲסוֹת בַּה’ וְגוֹ’. מִישָׁאֵל פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (ירמיה ל) וְאַתָּה אַל תִּירָא עַבְדִּי יַעֲקֹב נְאֻם ה’ וְגוֹ’ כִּי אִתְּךָ אֲנִי נְאֻם ה’ לְהוֹשִׁיעֶךָ כִּי אֶעֱשֶׂה וְגוֹ’. בְּאוֹתָהּ שָׁעָה שֶׁשָּׁמְעוּ כֻלָּם אֶת שֵׁם יַעֲקֹב, תָּמְהוּ וְצָחֲקוּ בְּלֵיצָנוּת. עֲזַרְיָה פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (דברים ו) שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל ה’ אֱלֹהֵינוּ ה’ אֶחָד.
\n16. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב, (ישעיה מד) זֶה יֹאמַר לַה’ אָנִי וְגוֹ’. זֶה יֹאמַר לַה’ אָנִי – זֶה חֲנַנְיָה. וְזֶה יִקְרָא בְשֵׁם יַעֲקֹב – זֶה מִישָׁאֵל. וְזֶה יִכְתֹּב יָדוֹ לַה’ וּבְשֵׁם יִשְׂרָאֵל יְכַנֶּה – זֶה עֲזַרְיָה. בְּאוֹתָהּ שָׁעָה כִּנֵּס הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא אֶת הַפָּמַלְיָא שֶׁלּוֹ, וְאָמַר לָהֶם: בְּאֵיזֶה דִבּוּר מֵאוֹתָם הַדִּבּוּרִים שֶׁאָמְרוּ אֵלֶּה הַשְּׁלֹשָׁה אַצִּיל אוֹתָם? פָּתְחוּ וְאָמְרוּ, (תהלים סג) וְיֵדְעוּ כִּי אַתָּה שִׁמְךָ ה’ לְבַדֶּךָ עֶלְיוֹן עַל כָּל הָאָרֶץ.<\/div>\n

Zohar Acharei Mot<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the book of Daniel, chapter 3, we read a story about three people; Chanania, Mishael and Azaria (also named Shadrach, Meshach, Abed-nego. The point of the story is that they refuse to bow to the kingdom’s statue. The king Nebuchadnezzar ordered to throw them into a high heat furnace. The people that lead them into the furnace burned themselves but the three were seen walking in the fire with a fourth person, which was an angel that cooled down the fire around them.<\/p>\n

The Zohar explains that they merited the miracle of surviving the fire because of their prayers.<\/p>\n

Chanania quoted Psalms 118:6<\/a>
\n“יְהוָה לִי, לֹא אִירָא; מַה-יַּעֲשֶׂה לִי אָדָם”
\n“YHVH<\/a> is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?”<\/p>\n

Mishael quoted Jeremiah 30:10<\/a>
\n“וְאַתָּה אַל-תִּירָא עַבְדִּי יַעֲקֹב נְאֻם-יְהוָה, וְאַל-תֵּחַת יִשְׂרָאֵל–כִּי הִנְנִי מוֹשִׁיעֲךָ מֵרָחוֹק, וְאֶת-זַרְעֲךָ מֵאֶרֶץ שִׁבְיָם; וְשָׁב יַעֲקֹב וְשָׁקַט וְשַׁאֲנַן, וְאֵין מַחֲרִיד”
\n“’Fear not, O Jacob My servant,’ declares the LORD, ‘And do not be dismayed, O Israel<\/a>; For behold, I will save you from afar And your offspring from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease, And no one will make him afraid.”<\/p>\n

Some of the people around thought that Mishael is calling Jacob for help and not God. They laughed but sparks of fire jumped on them and consumed them.<\/p>\n

Azaria recited the Shema Israel<\/a>, Deuteronomy 6:4<\/a>
\n“שְׁמַע, יִשְׂרָאֵל: יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ, יְהוָה אֶחָד”
\n“Hear, O Israel<\/a>: YHVH<\/a> our God, YHVH<\/a> is one.”<\/p>\n

When God heard their prayers, He gathered His angels and asked them “With which words should I save them? and they answered with the verse from Psalms 83:19<\/a>
\n“וְיֵדְעוּ– כִּי-אַתָּה שִׁמְךָ יְהוָה לְבַדֶּךָ:
\nעֶלְיוֹן, עַל-כָּל-הָאָרֶץ”
\n“That they may know that You alone, whose name is YHVH<\/a>, is the Most High over all the earth.”<\/p>\n
