23. רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אָמַר, (במדבר ד) אַל תַּכְרִיתוּ אֶת שֵׁבֶט מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי מִתּוֹךְ הַלְוִיִּם, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהֵם גֶּזַע וְשֹׁרֶשׁ הַלְוִיִּם. וְזֹאת עֲשׂוּ לָהֶם וְחָיוּ וְלֹא יָמֻתוּ, שֶׁצָּרִיךְ הַכֹּהֵן לְתַקְּנָם. שֶׁאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁהֵם קְרוֹבִים לַקֹּדֶשׁ, לֹא יִכָּנְסוּ אֶלָּא רַק בְּתִקּוּן הַכֹּהֵן, שֶׁהוּא יוֹדֵע סִימָן שֶׁיַּגִּיעוּ אֵלָיו, וְלֹא יוֹתֵר. וּכְשֶׁמְּכַסִּים לִכְלֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ, אָז שׁוֹרֶה כִסּוּי אַחֵר, וְאָסוּר לָהֶם לְהִתְקָרֵב וְלִרְאוֹת, שֶׁהֲרֵי דָּבָר בַּחֲשַׁאי אֵין לָהֶם, אֶלָּא לַכֹּהֵן, (וְעַל זֶה) שֶׁדִּבְרֵיהֶם וּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם בְּסוֹד וּבַחֲשַׁאי, וְלַלְוִיִּם לְהָרִים קוֹל.
\n24. בִּגְלַל זֶה כֹּהֲנִים בַּחֲשַׁאי וּבְסוֹד, וְעַל זֶה אָסוּר לָהֶם יַיִן, שֶׁיַּיִן לַהֲרָמַת קוֹל וּלְגִלּוּי סוֹד הוּא. בִּגְלַל זֶה לְוִיִּם נִמְסְרוּ לַהֲרָמַת קוֹל, שֶׁהֲרֵי בְּדִין נֶאֱחָזִים, דִּין בְּגָלוּי הוּא וּלְפַרְסֵם דָּבָר לִפְנֵי הַכֹּל. אֲבָל כֹּהֵן, כָּל דְּבָרָיו בְּסוֹד וַחֲשַׁאי, וְלֹא בְגָלוּי. (סִימַן הַכֹּל – שְּׂמֹאל תְּהֵא דוֹחָה, וְיָמִין מְקָרֶבֶת) מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהוּא יָמִין (מְקָרֵב), כְּשֶׁדִּינִים שְׁרוּיִים בָּעוֹלָם מִצַּד שְׂמֹאל, יָמִין תְּהֵא מְקָרֶבֶת, וּבַמֶּה? בִּקְטֹרֶת, שֶׁהִיא בַּחֲשַׁאי, בְּסוֹד דַּקִּיק וּפְנִימִי מֵהַכֹּל.<\/div>\n

\nZohar Korach<\/strong><\/p>\n

Numbers 4:18<\/a>
\n“אַל-תַּכְרִיתוּ, אֶת-שֵׁבֶט מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי, מִתּוֹךְ, הַלְוִיִּם”
\n“”Do not let the tribe of the families of the Kohathites be cut off from among the Levites.”<\/p>\n

The Zohar explains how the Kohathites are the trunk and the roots of the Levites.
\nGenesis 46:11<\/a> “And the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.”
\nKohath had 4 sons Amram, father of Moses and Aaron; Itzhar, father of Korach; Chevron; and Uziel.<\/p>\n

Although Moses was a Levite, he served as the first Kohen<\/a> (High Priest). His brother was also a Levite by birth, but God made him a high priest along with his children.<\/p>\n

In the wilderness, the Levites had their camp to the left of the Holy Tabernacle. The Zohar reveals the Torah placed responsibility on the priests<\/a> to protect the Levites as they served the priests<\/a> in the Holy Tabernacle. The priests<\/a> were the aspect of the Right column<\/a>, Chessed<\/a>, and the Levites were the aspect of the left column<\/a>, Gevurah<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Left without the Right is strong judgment. The Levites work in the Holy was performed with singing, while the priests<\/a> did their work in silence because they were connecting to Binah<\/a> in order to draw the Light. The Levites, as Left column<\/a>, couldn’t make a direct connection to the Light, so they needed Chessed<\/a> of the Right column<\/a> to have balance and protection from judgments.<\/p>\n

Left and Right need to come together to remove judgment and bring down the flow of light. This means that our desires (Left) must be combined with sharing (Right) in order to infuse our actions and lives with light.<\/p>\n
