Genesis 18:1<\/a>
\n“וַיֵּרָא אֵלָיו יְהוָה, בְּאֵלֹנֵי מַמְרֵא; וְהוּא יֹשֵׁב פֶּתַח-הָאֹהֶל, כְּחֹם הַיּוֹם.”
\n“And YHVH<\/a> appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day.”<\/p>\n

The Zohar reveals that after Abraham circumcised himself with the help of God (See comment below), he had the merit to see God. Before that God was talking to Abraham but didn’t appear to him as the first verse of Vayera states.
\nThe circumcision<\/a> is an important correction on the level of Yessod<\/a>. It corrects the spiritual ‘blindness’ brought on us because of the first sin (Adam, Eve and the Snake<\/a>). In the Garden of Eden we had direct access to the Light and the upper three Sefirot, and we, as parts of the soul of Adam, enjoyed immortal state. After the sin we connected to the Tree of Knowledge Good and Bad that comes with temporary state of existence, mortality, and we must earn every Light of fulfillment we wish to have.<\/p>\n

Now Abraham on the third day after his circumcision<\/a> is sitting in front of his tent, open for what the day may bring. For Tzadikim, ‘tent’, אוהל, (pronounced ‘Ohel’), is a place of connection to Yessod<\/a> and upper levels. The burial place of Tzadikim is called ‘Ohel’, it is usually surrounded with walls to provide and ‘earthly’ vessel for those who come to visit the Tzadik site. A Tzadik in his tent is not considered as dead but as a ‘sleeper’ in the ground. The Torah uses the name ‘tent of meeting’ for the Holy Tabernacle. When Moses is called to meet with God he is called to the tent of meeting.<\/p>\n

The heat of the day that is mentioned in the verse above indicates full revelation of the Sun, which brings the Light of Binah<\/a> to the world. It brings healing and strength with connection to Yessod<\/a> as we read in the following verse.<\/p>\n

Malachi 3:20<\/a> (Please read the entire chapter )
\n“זָרְחָה לָכֶם יִרְאֵי שְׁמִי, שֶׁמֶשׁ צְדָקָה, וּמַרְפֵּא, בִּכְנָפֶיהָ; וִיצָאתֶם וּפִשְׁתֶּם, כְּעֶגְלֵי מַרְבֵּק”
\n“But for you who fear(awe) my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.”<\/p>\n

‘Sun of righteousness’ means the Light of Binah<\/a> coming down through Zeir Anpin<\/a>. It shines on those who are on the righteous path. This verse also includes in it the promise of God to protect the righteous people during the wars that will happen before the Final Redemption.<\/p>\n

Lessons:
\nCircumcision<\/a> is a very important action. It allows a person greater elevation to Yessod<\/a> and the upper levels. Abraham was 99 when he did his circumcision<\/a>. The sages tell us that when Abraham started with the circumcision<\/a> it was hard for him and because his heart and consciousness were fully ready to follow the word of God, God reached his hand and supported him. The sages learned that from the verse in Nehemiah 9:8<\/a>
\n“וּמָצָאתָ אֶת-לְבָבוֹ, נֶאֱמָן לְפָנֶיךָ, וְכָרוֹת עִמּוֹ הַבְּרִית לָתֵת אֶת-אֶרֶץ הַכְּנַעֲנִי הַחִתִּי הָאֱמֹרִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי וְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁי, לָתֵת לְזַרְעוֹ; וַתָּקֶם, אֶת-דְּבָרֶיךָ, כִּי צַדִּיק, אָתָּה”
\n“You found his heart faithful before you, and made together with him the covenant (also ‘Brit<\/a>’, ‘Circumcision<\/a>’) to give to his offspring the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite. And you have kept your promise, for you are righteous.”<\/p>\n

The words ‘made together with him’ in Hebrew is read also as ‘cutting the Brit<\/a> (foreskin)’.
\nThere are many Jews who ‘skip’ circumcision<\/a>. Also many people with Israelite souls who wish to come closer to the Light. They should make the efforts and have circumcision<\/a>. Even if a man is very old and even if he is on his deathbed, Chas V’Shalom (God forbid), he should ask for circumcision<\/a>. The revelation of Light could bring miracles for those who overcome the fear that they might have at older age. If you are young then there should be no fear except for fear of missing great Light. The foreskin holds great aspect of negativity (reminder of the first sin) that blocks great Light from coming in.<\/p>\n

Another lesson is to go on and keep on the path of righteousness because that’s the only way to earn protection and merits in the Final Redemption. Being a good person without any ‘criminal record’ is a basic requirement from all people. It is not righteousness and such people may have merits and receive Light but far less that those who are doing active actions of Tzedakah in all of its aspects. One should remember that in the Final Redemption, the soul is evaluated for all life times, not just the current. Everyone should make the efforts to go beyond being a ‘good person’ to be able to correct previous lives’ issues. Those who suffer now should accept the process as ‘payments’ and be happy about it. Those who enjoys material life may get their rewards in this life times and may not have ‘balance’ for the Final Redemption and the path to immortality.
