25. וְיוֹ”ד שֶׁל פִּנְחָס לֹא נִתַּן בָּהּ לְחַבֵּר הָאוֹתִיּוֹת, אֶלָּא בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁקִּנֵּא לַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא וּבָא לְיַשֵּׁר אֶת הֶעָקֹם, שֶׁרָאָה אֶת אוֹת הַבְּרִית הַקְּדוֹשָׁה הַזּוֹ שֶׁהִכְנִיס זִמְרִי לְרָשׁוּת אַחֶרֶת, וּבְמַה שֶּׁהִתְעַקֵּם בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה הִתְתַּקֵּן כָּאן. בְּנָכְרִיָּה הִתְעַקְּמוּ בַהַתְחָלָה, שֶׁכָּתוּב בְּהַקְרִיבָם אֵשׁ זָרָה, וְכָאן בְּנָכְרִיָּה הִתְתַּקְּנוּ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב וּבָעַל בַּת אֵל נֵכָר. מַה לְּהָלְאָה אֵשׁ זָרָה, אַף כָּאן גַּם אִשָּׁה זָרָה.
\n26. מַה נִּרְאֶה כָּאן? אֶלָּא בַּהַתְחָלָה הִקְרִיבוּ אֶת הָרְחוֹקָה, שֶׁכָּתוּב בְּהַקְרִבָם אֵשׁ זָרָה. אַף כָּאן זִמְרִי הָיָה מַקְרִיב אֶת הָרְחוֹקָה, אֶת שֵׁם הַמֶּלֶךְ הָיָה מְקָרֵב לָרְחוֹקָה, מִיָּד – (שם כה) וַיַּרְא פִּינְחָס בֶּן אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן וַיָּקָם מִתּוֹךְ הָעֵדָה. כָּאן תִּקֵּן אֶת הֶעָקֹם שֶׁבָּרִאשׁוֹנָה, וְאָז נִתְּנָה יוֹ”ד לִשְׁמוֹ לְחַבֵּר אֶת הָאוֹתִיּוֹת כְּאֶחָד וְהִתְבַּשֵּׂר בְּשָׁלוֹם, שֶׁכָּתוּב לָכֵן אֱמֹר הִנְנִי נֹתֵן לוֹ אֶת בְּרִיתִי שָׁלוֹם. Numbers 3:4<\/a>
\n“וַיָּמָת נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא לִפְנֵי יְהוָה בְּהַקְרִבָם אֵשׁ זָרָה לִפְנֵי יְהוָה, בְּמִדְבַּר סִינַי, וּבָנִים, לֹא-הָיוּ לָהֶם; וַיְכַהֵן אֶלְעָזָר וְאִיתָמָר, עַל-פְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן אֲבִיהֶם.”
\n“But Nadab and Abihu<\/a> died before YHVH<\/a> when they offered foreign fire before YHVH<\/a> in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests<\/a> in the lifetime of their father Aaron.”<\/p>\n

The souls of Nadav and Avihu<\/a> were taken from them because they brought a sacrifice that was not called for and not at its time. Because of that it was considered as out of the pure system and defined as ‘foreign’, ‘אש זרה’.<\/p>\n

Here is a background story that lead to the righteous act of Pinchas.<\/p>\n

Balaam couldn’t curse the Israelites<\/a> because their camps were protected by the Holy Tabernacle and the way they arranged the camps around it.
\nThe only available option to hurt the Israelites<\/a> on a spiritual level was through the level of Yessod<\/a>. Yessod<\/a> is where the Light from the upper 8 Sefirot is gathered together and channeled to Malchut<\/a>. In the body Yessod<\/a> is the aspect of the sexual organs. Balak sent the most beautiful women to seduce Moses with sex. If Balak’s plan had succeeded, Moses would have dropped from his level of Da’at to Yessod<\/a> and drained his energy to the Malchut<\/a> of the other side<\/a>. That would have destroyed the entire connection of the Israelites<\/a> to the Tree of Life<\/a> and as a result the entire world would have collapsed because if there are no Israelites<\/a> and Torah to draw Light to the world, the world cannot exist.
\nThe Midianite women saw Zimri, the head of the tribe of Shimon who was a handsome and charismatic person and mistaken him for Moses. The damage was not catastrophic because Pinchas killed them and made a correction to the broken Yessod<\/a>. By the time Pinchas stopped the drain of energy, 24,000 people died in a plague.
\nNumbers 25:8<\/a>
\n“וַיָּבֹא אַחַר אִישׁ-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-הַקֻּבָּה, וַיִּדְקֹר אֶת-שְׁנֵיהֶם–אֵת אִישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְאֶת-הָאִשָּׁה אֶל-קֳבָתָהּ; וַתֵּעָצַר, הַמַּגֵּפָה, מֵעַל, בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל”
\n“and (Pinchas) went after the man of Israel<\/a> into the chamber and pierced both of them, the man of Israel<\/a> and the woman through her belly. Thus the plague on the people of Israel<\/a> was stopped.”<\/p>\n

Nadav and Avihu<\/a> brought ‘foreign’ fire (sacrifice) to the Holy Tabernacle and corrupted the aspect of Yessod<\/a>. Zimri brought ‘foreign’ woman ‘אשה זרה’ to the Holy unification and corrupted the Yessod<\/a> of the Israelites<\/a>. Pinchas corrected the corruption of Yessod<\/a> and received the Yod of Yessod<\/a> to support his action. Because it was a major correction to the Yessod<\/a>, his act also corrected the corruption of Yessod<\/a> created by Nadav and Avihu<\/a> and their souls could come to Pinchas.<\/p>\n

The additional letter Yod in Pinchas name connected him to peace, ‘שלום’. This word also means ‘completion’ and represents Yessod<\/a> because Yessod<\/a> completes Malchut<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Numbers 25:12<\/a>
\n“לָכֵן, אֱמֹר: הִנְנִי נֹתֵן לוֹ אֶת-בְּרִיתִי, שָׁלוֹם”
\n“Therefore say, ‘Behold, I give him My covenant of peace;”<\/p>\n

The covenant is the aspect of Yessod<\/a> that connects upper and lower, Zeir Anpin<\/a> and Malchut<\/a>.<\/p>\n

YHVH<\/a> gave Pinchas the power to bring peace and as we know from the prophecies, Elijah, who is Pinchas, will announce the coming of Mashiach and the process that will bring the Peace of the Final Redemption.<\/p>\n
