30. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן הָיָה הוֹלֵךְ בַּדֶּרֶךְ, וְהָיוּ עִמּוֹ רַבִּי יְהוּדָה וְרַבִּי יוֹסֵי וְרַבִּי חִזְקִיָּה. פָּתַח רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן וְאָמַר, (תהלים קיא) טֶרֶף נָתַן לִירֵאָיו יִזְכֹּר לְעוֹלָם בְּרִיתוֹ. טֶרֶף נָתַן לִירֵאָיו – אֵלּוּ הֵם הַצַּדִּיקִים, אוֹתָם יִרְאֵי הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא. שֶׁכָּל מִי שֶׁיָּרֵא מִמֶּנּוּ נִקְרָא מֵאַנְשֵׁי בֵּית הַמֶּלֶךְ, וְעָלָיו כָתוּב (שם קיב) אַשְׁרֵי אִישׁ יָרֵא אֶת ה’.
\n31. מַהוּ טֶרֶף נָתַן לִירֵאָיו? אֶלָּא כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב, (משלי לא) וַתָּקָם בְּעוֹד לַיְלָה וַתִּתֵּן טֶרֶף לְבֵיתָהּ. מִכָּאן לָמַדְנוּ, שֶׁכָּל אָדָם שֶׁעוֹסֵק בַּתּוֹרָה בַּלַּיְלָה, וְקָם בַּחֲצוֹת הַלַּיְלָה, בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁכְּנֶסֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתְעוֹרֶרֶת לְהַתְקִין בַּיִת לַמֶּלֶךְ – זֶה מִשְׁתַּתֵּף עִמָּהּ, וְזֶה נִקְרָא מִבֵּית הַמֶּלֶךְ, וְנוֹתְנִים לוֹ כָּל יוֹם מֵאוֹתָם תִּקּוּנֵי הַבַּיִת. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב וַתִּתֵּן טֶרֶף לְבֵיתָהּ וְחֹק לְנַעֲרֹתֶיהָ. מִי זֶה בֵּיתָהּ? כָּל אוֹתָם שֶׁמִּשְׁתַּתְּפִים עִמָּה בַּלַּיְלָה נִקְרָאִים בֵּיתָהּ, בְּנֵי בֵיתָהּ. וּמִשּׁוּם כָּךְ, טֶרֶף נָתַן לִירֵאָיו.<\/div>\n

\nZohar Emor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Psalms 111:5<\/a>
\n“טֶרֶף, נָתַן לִירֵאָיו; יִזְכֹּר לְעוֹלָם בְּרִיתוֹ”
\n“He has given food to those who fear (Awe) Him; He will remember His covenant forever”<\/p>\n

“Those who awe him” are the Tzadikim who wake up at night to study and awaken the Shechina with them, as we read in Proverbs 31:15<\/a>
\n“וַתָּקָם, בְּעוֹד לַיְלָה–וַתִּתֵּן טֶרֶף לְבֵיתָהּ; וְחֹק, לְנַעֲרֹתֶיהָ”
\n“She rises also while it is still night And gives food to her household And portions to her maidens”<\/p>\n

When a person wakes up at midnight to study Torah, The Shechinah wakes up with him to draw Light of Chokmah<\/a> for that person that becomes her household.<\/p>\n

The Zohar mentions in many places the power of getting up after midnight to study Torah. The spiritual reason is that after midnight the Light of Chessed<\/a> is increasing and the negative side begins to leave. The study creates a bigger vessel for the Light of the day and when the Light of Chassadim<\/a> increases, we can elevate our prayers higher with the Light of Chokmah<\/a>.<\/p>\n
