Elul is the sixth month (counting from Nisan, Aries) and the aspect of Friday and <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Yessod&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Yessod is the sefira that delivers light, and nourishments that sustain life in the world. Joseph is the chariot (vehicle) for the sefira of Yessod. He controlled the sustenance of Egypt and the world, and he is a channel of sustenance.We connect to Yessod through studies, Tzedaka, and Tzadikim.Friday is Yessod of the week. Kislev is Yessod of the months.&lt;\/div&gt;\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=yessod\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\">Yessod<\/a>. On the seventh month, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, we receive our &lsquo;portion&rsquo;\/&rsquo;budget&rsquo; for the year. A good preparation during the month of Elul will&nbsp;bring &lsquo;Life&rsquo; in the year that follows.<\/p>\n<p>Moses went up to Mount Sinai to plead for the people and to receive the second Tablets on <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Rosh Chodesh&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Hebrew &amp;quot;&#1512;&#1488;&#1513; &#1495;&#1493;&#1491;&#1513;,&amp;quot; &amp;quot;Rosh Chodesh,&amp;quot; literally means &amp;quot;the head of the month,&amp;quot; new moon.The first day of the Hebrew month. The day of the new moon or immediately after. When the new moon starts on the last day of the month, we celebrate two days of Rosh Chodesh. In such a case, the second day is always the first day of the new month.On Rosh Chodesh, a new light appears in the world, and as the celestial element closer to earth, we are strongly affected by its position to other planets and distance from earth.It&amp;#039;s a positive day, and we make more studies and spiritual connections to draw greater Light on this day. In the Holy Temple, the priest sacrificed a goat to give the other side something to get busy with while we benefit from the Light revealed on that day. It&amp;#039;s a good day to give Tzedakah and light candles for Tzadikim. Our preparation on the month of Elul, before the judgment day on Rosh Hashanah, is very important.<\/p>\n<p>The portion of Re&rsquo;eh always falls on the Shabbat before the month of Elul begins. Maimonides tells us that Tzedakah is one of the most important precepts of the Torah. The portion of Re&rsquo;eh repeats and teaches different aspects of Tzedakah. The portion ends with the verse (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Deuteronomy.16.17?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">Deuteronomy 16:17<\/a>)<br>\n&ldquo;&#1488;&#1460;&#1497;&#1513;&#1473;, &#1499;&#1456;&#1468;&#1502;&#1463;&#1514;&#1456;&#1468;&#1504;&#1463;&#1514; &#1497;&#1464;&#1491;&#1493;&#1465;, &#1499;&#1456;&#1468;&#1489;&#1460;&#1512;&#1456;&#1499;&#1463;&#1468;&#1514; &#1497;&#1456;&#1492;&#1493;&#1464;&#1492; &#1488;&#1457;&#1500;&#1465;&#1492;&#1462;&#1497;&#1498;&#1464;, &#1488;&#1458;&#1513;&#1462;&#1473;&#1512; &#1504;&#1464;&#1514;&#1463;&#1503;-&#1500;&#1464;&#1498;&#1456;.&rdquo;<br>\n&ldquo;Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;YHVH&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The Holy Name&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=yhvh\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex='0' role='link'>YHVH<\/a>, your God which He has given you.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Teaching us that we need to give from our hearts as a gift because everything we have was given to us as a blessing from <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;YHVH&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The Holy Name&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=yhvh\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex='0' role='link'>YHVH<\/a>, our God. When we give back with happiness, even from the little we have, we create affinity with the same light that was originally given to us secretly.<\/p>\n<p>When King David had everything ready for the building of the temple he gathered the people and made a prayer to <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;YHVH&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;The Holy Name&lt;\/div&gt;\"  href=\"https:\/\/staging.dailyzohar.com\/?glossary=yhvh\"  data-gt-translate-attributes='[{\"attribute\":\"data-cmtooltip\", \"format\":\"html\"}]' tabindex='0' role='link'>YHVH<\/a>. Our connection to Zeir Anpin is through Yessod by studying the Torah on all levels.
