25. אָמַר רַבִּי יִצְחָק, כָּתוּב וַיִּתְרֹצֲצוּ הַבָּנִים בְּקִרְבָּהּ וַתֹּאמֶר אִם כֵּן לָמָּה זֶּה אָנֹכִי וַתֵּלֶךְ לִדְרֹשׁ אֶת ה’. לְאֵיזֶה מָקוֹם הָלְכָה? לְבֵית הַמִּדְרָשׁ שֶׁל שֵׁם וְעֵבֶר. וַיִּתְרֹצֲצוּ הַבָּנִים בְּקִרְבָּהּ – שֶׁשָּׁם הָיָה אוֹתוֹ עֵשָׂו הָרָשָׁע נִלְחָם בִּקְרָב עִם יַעֲקֹב. וַיִּתְרֹצֲצוּ – נִשְׁבְּרוּ כְּמוֹ שֶׁאָמַרְנוּ, רִצֵּץ אֶת מֹחוֹ. נִשְׁבְּרוּ זֶה עִם זֶה וְנֶחְלְקוּ. בֹּא רְאֵה, הַצַּד הַזֶּה שֶׁרוֹכֵב נָחָשׁ, וְצַד זֶה שֶׁרוֹכֵב עַל הַכִּסֵּא הַשָּׁלֵם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בְּצַד הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ, לְשַׁמֵּשׁ עִם הַלְּבָנָה.
\n26. וּבֹא וּרְאֵה, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁנִּמְשַׁךְ עֵשָׂו אַחֲרֵי אוֹתוֹ נָחָשׁ, הָלַךְ אִתּוֹ יַעֲקֹב בְּעַקְמִימוּת. כְּמוֹ הַנָּחָשׁ שֶׁהוּא חָכָם וְהוּא הוֹלֵךְ בְּעַקְמִימוּת, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר וְהַנָּחָשׁ הָיָה עָרוּם וְגוֹ’, חָכָם. וְהַמַּעֲשִׂים שֶׁל יַעֲקֹב כְּלַפָּיו הָיוּ לוֹ כְּמוֹ נָחָשׁ, וְכָךְ צָרִיךְ לוֹ כְּדֵי לִמְשֹׁךְ אֶת עֵשָׂו אַחַר אוֹתוֹ הַנָּחָשׁ, וְיִפָּרֵד מִמֶּנּוּ, וְלֹא יִהְיֶה לוֹ חֵלֶק עִמּוֹ בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה וּבָעוֹלָם הַבָּא. וְשָׁנִינוּ, בָּא לְהָרְגְךָ – הַקְדֵּם אַתָּה וַהֲרֹג אוֹתוֹ. כָּתוּב (הושע יב) בַּבֶּטֶן עָקַב אֶת אָחִיו, שֶׁהִשְׁרָה אוֹתוֹ לְמַטָּה בְּאוֹתוֹ הֶעָקֵב, זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב וְיָדוֹ אֹחֶזֶת בַּעֲקֵב עֵשָׂו, שֶׁשָּׂם אֶת יָדוֹ עַל אוֹתוֹ עָקֵב לְהַכְנִיעוֹ.<\/div>\n

\nZohar Toldot<\/strong>
\nGenesis 25:22<\/a>
\n“וַיִּתְרֹצְצוּ הַבָּנִים, בְּקִרְבָּהּ, וַתֹּאמֶר אִם-כֵּן, לָמָּה זֶּה אָנֹכִי; וַתֵּלֶךְ, לִדְרֹשׁ אֶת-יְהוָה”
\n“But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If it is so, why then am I this way?” So she went to inquire of YHVH<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Rebecca was carrying twins, one was bad and one was good. The Zohar tells us that Esau was from the side of the Snake<\/a> and Jacob from the side of the Holy throne. Their fight in the womb was the fight about the control of good or evil.
\nJacob was the aspect of Zeir Anpin<\/a>. Esau was the aspect of the lower world of Malchut<\/a> with control of the other side<\/a>. Jacob held Esau on his heel to control him with the holy Light<\/a>.
\nThe Zohar reveals that because Esau was from the other side<\/a> Jacob separated himself from his brother so Esau wouldn’t t have a share with him of the Light in this world and in the world to come. Jacob used the method of the Snake<\/a> to create separation between him and his negative brother. He held his heel as the Snake<\/a> would if he wanted to control a man. Genesis 3:15<\/a> “He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”.<\/p>\n

The prophet Hosea praised Jacob for his action before his birth that allowed him to overcome the angel of the negative side.<\/p>\n

Hosea 12:4<\/a>,5
\n“בַּבֶּטֶן, עָקַב אֶת-אָחִיו; וּבְאוֹנוֹ, שָׂרָה אֶת-אֱלֹהִים”
\n“In the womb he took his brother by the heel, And in his maturity he contended with God.”
\n“וַיָּשַׂר אֶל-מַלְאָךְ וַיֻּכָל, בָּכָה וַיִּתְחַנֶּן-לוֹ; בֵּית-אֵל, יִמְצָאֶנּוּ, וְשָׁם, יְדַבֵּר עִמָּנוּ”
\n“Yes, he wrestled with the angel and prevailed; He wept and sought His favor. He found Him at Bethel And there He spoke with us,”<\/p>\n

The lesson from this Zohar paragraph is that we can use the ‘tricks’ of the Snake<\/a> to disconnect from the negative side and overcome it.<\/p>\n
