That creates a separation and a greater distance from the side of holiness.<\/p>\n<p>Rabbi Yehuda asks: is it proper to say that Jacob, who was holy, became impure or impacted with the witchcrafts of Laban?<br>\nWhen Jacob said &ldquo;I have sojourned with Laban&rdquo; it was a praise for him because he kept himself strong and pure by following the precepts of the Torah. The word &ldquo;&#1490;&#1463;&#1468;&#1512;&#1456;&#1514;&#1460;&#1468;&#1497;&rdquo;, &ldquo;sojourned&rdquo;, has a numerical value of 613, which is the number of precepts in the Torah.<br>\nAnother point that the Zohar brings is when Jacob identified himself as Esau. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Genesis.27.19?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\" target=\"_blank\">Genesis 27:19<\/a>) &ldquo;I am, Esau your firstborn&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>By presenting himself as Esau, Jacob connected to the impurity of his brother. The Zohar explains that the word &#1488;&#1504;&#1499;&#1497;, &ldquo;I am&rdquo; and &ldquo;Esau your firstborn&rdquo; have special <a class=\"glossaryLink\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;cantillation&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;Hebrew cantillation, trope, trop, or te&amp;#039;amim is the manner of chanting ritual readings from the Hebrew Bible in synagogue services. The chants are written and notated in accordance with the special signs or marks printed in the Masoretic Text of the Bible, to complement the letters and vowel points.These marks are known in English as &amp;#039;accents&amp;#039; (diacritics), &amp;#039;notes&amp;#039; or trope symbols, and in Hebrew as ta&#703;amei ha-mikra (&#1496;&#1506;&#1502;&#1497; &#1492;&#1502;&#1511;&#1512;&#1488;) or just te&#703;amim (&#1496;&#1506;&#1502;&#1497;&#1501;). Some of these signs were also sometimes used in medieval manuscripts of the Mishnah. The musical motifs associated with the signs are known in Hebrew as niggun or neginot (not to be confused with Hasidic nigun) and in Yiddish as trop (&#1496;&#1512;&#1488;&#1464;&#1508;): the word trope is sometimes used in Jewish English with the same meaning.There are multiple traditions of cantillation. Within each tradition, there are multiple tropes, typically for different books of the Bible and often for different occasions.
