48. שְׁלִישִׁי יִצְחָק. מַה זֶּה (בראשית לא) וַיִּשָּׁבַע יַעֲקֹב בְּפַחַד אָבִיו יִצְחָק. וּמִשּׁוּם פַּחַד יִצְחָק שֶׁהָיָה סְפִירָה, וְהַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא שֶׁהוּא כִּסֵּא כָבוֹד, מֶרְכָּבָה עֶלְיוֹנָה, וּסְפִירָה שֶׁל יִצְחָק הִיא מֵעֶלְיוֹנִים, מְפֹרֶשֶׁת יוֹתֵר מִכָּל הַסְּפִירוֹת שֶׁל הָאָבוֹת. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב וַיִּשָּׁבַע יַעֲקֹב בְּפַחַד אָבִיו יִצְחָק.

\n50. וַיִּתְחַזֵּק יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֵּשֶׁב עַל הַמִּטָּה. וְסוֹד הַכָּתוּב (דניאל יב) וּבָעֵת הַהִיא יַעֲמֹד מִיכָאֵל הַשַּׂר הַגָּדוֹל הָעֹמֵד עַל בְּנֵי עַמֶּךָ וְהָיְתָה עֵת צָרָה. רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן אָמַר, זוֹ גְּבוּרַת יַד מִיכָאֵל הַגָּדוֹל, כְּמוֹ שֶׁהָיָה מִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לָהּ מִקֹּדֶם לָכֵן. לְמִי הָיָה מִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה? מִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לַמִּטָּה. הָיְתָה הַמִּטָּה פְּתוּחָה פָנֶיהָ. לַמִּילָה הָיָה מִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה, שֶׁהֲרֵי הָיְתָה חֲבִיבָה עָלָיו.<\/div>\n

\nBefore Jacob and Laban separated, they made a sign of border between them and promise not to go after each other with ill intent.

\n“אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם וֵאלֹהֵי נָחוֹר, יִשְׁפְּטוּ בֵינֵינוּ–אֱלֹהֵי, אֲבִיהֶם; וַיִּשָּׁבַע יַעֲקֹב, בְּפַחַד אָבִיו יִצְחָק”
\n“The God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” So Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac”
\nWhat is the meaning and root cause of this swear.
\nGod commanded Abraham to take Isaac to the mount of Moriah, bind and sacrifice him. At the time of the binding Isaac was 37 years old and Abraham, his father was 137 years old. Even though Abraham was healthy and in full fitness, Isaac could’ve gotten away easily from the binding.
\nWhen Abraham held the knife above his head Isaac submitted himself to the process with absolute faith<\/a> in the will of God. His fear was of losing the connection to God rather than fear of his life. On the spiritual level, the binding of Isaac was to make him a chariot<\/a> for the Sefirah of Gevurah<\/a>, Left column<\/a>. His test was with judgment to be carried by his father that already established the channel of Chessed<\/a> and the Right column<\/a>. Judgment is the aspect of the Left column<\/a>. Isaac feared of losing the connection and he accepted the judgment of death without a sound. His reaction or better say non-reaction created the connection between Chessed<\/a> and Gevurah<\/a> and allowed light to flow from right to left with continuation that was made available to Jacob.
\nBecause of the binding Isaac had the merit to bring a child that was spiritually completed and able to unify the Right and Left columns.
\nThe Sefirah of Gevurah<\/a> is also called ‘fear’, ‘פחד’.
\nThe prayer of Shema Israel<\/a> created unification of light and vessel. When we say this prayer before going to sleep with meditation that we are accepting on ourselves the four types of death (stoning<\/a>, burning, slaying, strangulation), we remove many types of judgments that got attached to us because of different sins and impurities.
