57. וּבְאוֹתוֹ מָקוֹם שֶׁשּׁוֹרֶה אוֹתוֹ חֹשֶׁךְ, כַּמָּה מַלְאֲכֵי חַבָּלָה, שֶׁנִּקְרָאִים נְחָשִׁים וְעַקְרַבִּים, מִתְקָרְבִים אֵלָיו, וְנוֹתְנִים לוֹ כַּמָּה נְשִׁיכוֹת, וְאֵלֶּה אוֹתָם יִסּוּרִים. וְאִם יֵשׁ לוֹ מָמוֹן שֶׁל מַעֲשִׂים טוֹבִים שֶׁעָשָׂה – יִתְמַעֲטוּ מִמֶּנּוּ. וְאֵיךְ יִתְמַעֲטוּ מִמֶּנּוּ? אֶלָּא כָּל זְכוּת שֶׁיּוֹרֶדֶת לוֹ מִלְמַעְלָה, נוֹתְנִים אוֹתָהּ לְאוֹתָם מַלְאֲכֵי חַבָּלָה, וּמְבַטְּלִים מִמֶּנּוּ יִסּוּרִים. וְאִם אֵין לוֹ זְכוּת וְלֹא חוֹבָה לְמַעְלָה, אֶלָּא הַכֹּל לְמַטָּה – בְּכָל זְכוּת שֶׁעוֹשֶׂה, יוֹרֵד לוֹ מָמוֹנוֹת, וְאֻמּוֹת הָעוֹלָם מִתְקָרְבִים אֵלָיו כְּנֶגֶד מַלְאֲכֵי הַחַבָּלָה, וְנוֹתֵן לָהֶם מָמוֹן וְנִצָּל מֵהֶם.

\nContinued from previous DZ
\nThe Zohar reveals that if a person doesn’t have ‘stored’ merits above, then for his good deeds he is rewarded in this world with money and valuables from the material world. These ‘benefits’ can be transformed to ‘payments’ when the person acts against the laws of the spiritual system.
\nThe sufferings we go through in this world are forms of ‘payments’ for negative actions from this or previous lives. As spiritual people we should be happy and accept the payments in order to credit our spiritual accounts and purify our souls. We should keep on the positive and righteous path and seek opportunities to do good.
\nThe less we enjoy from this world the greater merits we earn for the world to come. We can enjoy what comes our ways but not actively seek pleasures of this world. It’s okay and good to bring pleasures to the soul in ways that are not part of the desire for the self alone. Any selfish act creates a dark hole in our spiritual surrounding light and allow the negative side to enter.
