56. מַה כָּתוּב לְמַעְלָה? וַיְבָרֶךְ אֶת יוֹסֵף וַיֹּאמַר. וְלֹא מָצָאנוּ לוֹ כָּאן בְּרָכוֹת, שֶׁהֲרֵי אַחַר כָּךְ בֵּרְכוֹ, שֶׁכָּתוּב (שם מט) בֵּן פֹּרָת יוֹסֵף. אֶלָּא, כֵּיוָן שֶׁבֵּרַךְ אֶת הַנְּעָרִים הַלָּלוּ, בֵּרַךְ אֶת יוֹסֵף. שֶׁהֲרֵי לֹא יָכְלוּ לְהִתְבָּרֵךְ אֶלָּא מִתּוֹךְ יוֹסֵף, וּמִתּוֹךְ שֶׁהוּא נִסְתָּר וְלֹא נִרְאֶה בְגִלּוּי, כָּתוּב בְּנִסְתָּר – וְיִקָּרֵא בָהֶם שְׁמִי וְשֵׁם אֲבֹתַי. \n57. בָּאוּ וְנָשְׁקוּ אוֹתוֹ כְּמִקֹּדֶם. אָמְרוּ, הָבָה וּנְבָרֵךְ. אָמַר הוּא, אֲנִי אֲבָרֵךְ, שֶׁכָּל מַה שֶּׁשְּׁמַעְתֶּם עַד כָּאן מִמֶּנִּי הָיָה, וַאֲקַיֵּם בִּי (משלי כב) טוֹב עַיִן הוּא יְבֹרָךְ. קוֹרְאִים בּוֹ יְבָרֵךְ. מָה הַטַּעַם? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁנָּתַן מִלַּחְמוֹ לַדָּל. מִלֶּחֶם וְאֹכֶל שֶׁל הַתּוֹרָה שֶׁלִּי אֲכַלְתֶּם. אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוּדָה, בֵּן אָהוּב שֶׁל הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, הֲרֵי שָׁנִינוּ בַּעַל הַבַּיִת בּוֹצֵעַ וְאוֹרֵחַ מְבָרֵךְ. אָמַר לוֹ, אֵינִי בַּעַל הַבַּיִת וְאֵינְכֶם אוֹרְחִים. אֲבָל מָצָאתִי פָסוּק וַאֲקַיְּמוֹ, שֶׁהֲרֵי אֲנִי בְּוַדַּאי טוֹב עַיִן, בְּלִי שְׁאֵלוֹתֵיכֶם אָמַרְתִּי עַד עַתָּה, וְלֶחֶם וְאֹכֶל שֶׁלִּי אֲכַלְתֶּם.<\/div>\n

\nZohar Balak<\/strong>
\nJacob’s blessings to Joseph<\/a> came after he blessed his children and gave them a status of tribe leaders and their uncles. In his blessings, Jacob treat Joseph<\/a> as his first born. Jacob wanted to marry Rachel but Laban his father in law ‘tricked’ him and replaced Rachel with Leah. His first energy was supposed to be transferred into Rachel but went to Leah. Reuven was the actual first born from Leah but spiritually Joseph<\/a> that was the first of Rachel was the spiritual firstborn.
\nJoseph<\/a> is the channel of Yessod<\/a> and the ‘funnel’ for the light to come to Malchut<\/a>. Malchut<\/a> doesn’t have light of its own and all the blessings had to pass through Joseph<\/a>\/Yessod<\/a>. He was blessed just by being a channel for the Light.
\nThe Torah reveals the power of Joseph<\/a> in Genesis 42:6<\/a>
\n” וְיוֹסֵף הוּא הַשַּׁלִּיט עַל הָאָרֶץ הוּא הַמַּשְׁבִּיר לְכָל עַם הָאָרֶץ ”
\n“And Joseph<\/a> was the governor over the land; he it was that sold to all the people of the land”
\nThe blessing that Joseph<\/a> received is actually a description of his capability to protect us.
\nEgypt represented Malchut<\/a> and Joseph<\/a> went down to Egypt to have control over Malchut<\/a>, letting his brothers connect to his power\/Yessod<\/a> and break out of Egypt to reveal the Light in Malchut<\/a>.
\nAfter this study, the sages kissed the Yenuka and said that they should now blessed the food that they had. The Yenukah said that he should make the blessing over the food because they ate from his food.
\nRabbi Yehuda said that the teaching is that the host bless the bread at the beginning of the meal and the guest make the blessing after they finish. The child quoted the verse in Proverbs 22:9<\/a> and told them that his study is the food they ate and he should bless.
\nProverbs 22:9<\/a> “טוֹב עַיִן הוּא יְבֹרָךְ כִּי נָתַן מִלַּחְמוֹ לַדָּל”
\n“the owner of good eye will bless because he gave from his bread the one in need.”
\nThe Yenukah shared from his ‘gift’ of Torah to the Rabbis o he earned the blessing.
\nTractate Avot (Fathers) 3:3
\n“רבי שמעון אומר, שלושה שאכלו על שולחן אחד, ולא אמרו עליו דברי תורה כאילו אכלו מזבחי מתים, שנאמר “כי כל שולחנות, מלאו קיא צואה בלי מקום”. אבל שלושה שאכלו על שולחן אחד ואמרו עליו דברי תורה כאילו אכלו משולחנו של מקום ברוך הוא, שנאמר “וידבר אלי זה השולחן, אשר לפני ה'””
\nMISHNA<\/a> C. R. Simeon said Three that have eaten on one table, and have not study Torah, are as if they have eaten of the sacrifices of the dead, as it is written (Isaiah 28:8<\/a>): ‘For all tables are full of vomit of filthiness, there is no place (clean).’ But three that have eat on one table and study Torah, are as if they had eaten of the table of the Holy One, as it is written (Ezekiel 41:22<\/a>) And he spoke unto me: This is the table that is before YHVH<\/a>.'”
\nRabbi Shimon teaches that the table where three people eat from is considered as an altar. If we study Torah during the meal, it’s as if we eat from a table in front of YHVH<\/a>. If not, it’s as if we ate from sacrifices of idol worship that have the aspect of death.
\nWe nourish our body by food but the body is lifeless without the soul that we nourish with the study of Torah\/Zohar.
\nAlone or in a group it would be beneficial to always use our Unity Zohar app on smart phones to read few paragraphs of Zohar to connect to Yessod<\/a> and draw ‘life’ through the food we digest. Don’t forget to bless the food.
