54. אֲבָל כְּשֶׁהֻשְׁלַם הַזְּמַן שֶׁחִכָּה לָהֶם וְלֹא שָׁבוּ, אָז חֶדְוָה וְתִשְׁבַּחַת לְפָנָיו עַל שֶׁאָבְדוּ מֵהָעוֹלָם, פְּרָט לַזְּמַן שֶׁחָרַב בֵּית הַמִּקְדָּשׁ, שֶׁאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁהֻשְׁלַם הַזְּמַן שֶׁלָּהֶם שֶׁהִרְגִּיזוּ לְפָנָיו, לֹא הָיְתָה חֶדְוָה לְפָנָיו. וּמֵאוֹתוֹ זְמַן לֹא הָיְתָה חֶדְוָה לְפָנָיו לְמַעְלָה וּלְמַטָּה.

\nAfter the destruction of the Holy Temple there’s no joy even when the wickeds are destroyed because the Holy Temple still not there to give us the joy of Light.
\nRemoving ‘darkness’ from a ‘darkness’ state doesn’t bring light. It doesn’t give us happiness but continuous sadness because the light is still absent. Only when the Light shines we can be happy.
\nLesson:
\nNowadays we see many conflicts around the world. Most people fight to remove the ‘darkness’ but at the same time forget to bring the Light. The world is full of ‘fighters’ against what they see as darkness but very few make efforts to bring the light. The Zohar study and other spiritual tools would draw light into the world and make us happy.
\nOnly light can remove the darkness and bring happiness. With our desires and prayers God can do that for us.

\nGenesis 7:4<\/a>
\nGod announces to Noah;
\n“כִּי לְיָמִים עוֹד שִׁבְעָה, אָנֹכִי מַמְטִיר עַל-הָאָרֶץ, אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם, וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה; וּמָחִיתִי, אֶת-כָּל-הַיְקוּם אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי, מֵעַל, פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה”
\n“For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.”
\nThe Zohar explains that 40 days are required to wipe mankind from the world. We were created from the aspect of four directions and four elements of nature.
\nNorth – Fire
\nEast – Wind\/Air
\nSouth – Water
\nWest – Earth
\nEach side has 10 individual levels and all together is 40. For that reason God needed 40 days and nights to complete the process.
\nDeuteronomy 25:3<\/a>
\n“אַרְבָּעִים יַכֶּנּוּ לֹא יֹסִיף פֶּן יֹסִיף לְהַכֹּתוֹ עַל אֵלֶּה מַכָּה רַבָּה וְנִקְלָה אָחִיךָ לְעֵינֶיךָ.”
\n“”He may beat him forty times but no more, so that he does not beat him with many more stripes than these and your brother is not degraded in your eyes.”
\nOn the individual level, the wicked is punished exactly with forty lashes to cleanse the sin he carries. Any additional lash would be considered as humiliation.
