50. אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי, עֶצֶם הַקּוּלִית [יָרֵךְ] הַקָּשֶׁה הַזֶּה, כְּשֶׁהוֹלֵךְ בִּסְרִיחוּת לְכָאן וּלְכָאן, הוֹלֵךְ וּמְבַקֵּר אֶת מְקוֹמוֹ שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר חֳדָשִׁים. כָּךְ הַנְּשָׁמָה הַהִיא שֶׁרְאוּיָה לְקַבֵּל עֹנֶשׁ, הוֹלֶכֶת בַּחוּץ בָּעוֹלָם, וּפוֹקֶדֶת אֶת מְקוֹמָהּ שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר חֳדָשִׁים בְּבָתֵּי הַקְּבָרוֹת וּבָעוֹלָם.

\nRabbi Yosei says that the soul that displaced itself from righteous path wanders around the world and visits her graves places for twelve months.
\nThe Zohar uses plural form that implies connection to places the soul lived and buried in previous lives.

\nGenesis 23:3<\/a>
\n“וַיָּקָם, אַבְרָהָם, מֵעַל, פְּנֵי מֵתוֹ; וַיְדַבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי-חֵת, לֵאמֹר.”
\n“Then Abraham rose from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,”
\nRabbi Yehuda explains that when the soul achieved elevation to Binah<\/a>, it becomes part of the upper levels. Abraham was elevated and received the ה H of Binah<\/a>, added to his name. The verse says that ‘Abraham rose’ and it implies that he was in a lower level. We may understand that Abraham wasn’t so righteous but as we explained in #47 above, Abraham is the soul and Sarah is the body. ‘Then Abraham rose from before his dead’ is the aspect of the righteous soul that goes up from the lower body.

\nAnother explanation is that when a righteous soul merit to go up to its rightful place in heaven, it does it after protecting the righteous body that hosted the righteous soul. The soul then draws light to the body and give it ability to connect to other bodies of righteous. That explains that Abraham (the soul) went down to the body for its protection.
\nAfter death the body immediately attracts entities of the other side<\/a> that tries to ‘suck’ any drop of energy that the body contains. The righteous soul can protect the body until its burial. We know that righteous bodies can stay without the decay process because the soul purified the body, leaving no opening for negativity to come.
