44. אָמַר רַבִּי יִצְחָק, אֲנִי הָיִיתִי לִפְנֵי רַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְשָׁאַלְתִּי עַל הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה. אָמַרְתִּי, הַסְּעוּדָה הַזּוֹ שֶׁל הַצַּדִּיקִים לֶעָתִיד לָבֹא הַאִם כָּךְ הוּא? לֹא הִתְיַשְּׁבָה בְּלִבִּי, שֶׁהִנֵּה אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, סְעוּדַת הַצַּדִּיקִים לֶעָתִיד לָבֹא כְּמוֹ זֶה שֶׁכָּתוּב (שמות כד) וַיֶּחֱזוּ אֶת הָאֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאכְלוּ וַיִּשְׁתּוּ. אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ, יָפֶה אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, וְכָךְ הוּא.
\n45. עוֹד אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ, הָאֱמוּנָה הַזּוֹ שֶׁאָמְרוּ רַבּוֹתֵינוּ לְרֹב הָעוֹלָם שֶׁמְּזֻמָּנִים הֵם לַסְּעוּדָה הַזּוֹ שֶׁל לִוְיָתָן וְהַשּׁוֹר הַהוּא, וְלִשְׁתּוֹת יַיִן טוֹב שֶׁמְּשֻׁמָּר מִכְּשֶׁנִּבְרָא הָעוֹלָם, פָּסוּק מָצְאוּ וְדָרְשׁוּ, שֶׁכָּתוּב (ויקרא כו) וַאֲכַלְתֶּם לַחְמְכֶם לָשֹׂבַע. שֶׁאָמַר רַבִּי זֵירָא, כָּל מִינֵי פִּתּוּי פִּתָּה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְהַחֲזִירָם לְמוּטָב, וְזֶה הוּא יוֹתֵר מִכֻּלָּם, שֶׁאָמַר לָהֶם וַאֲכַלְתֶּם לַחְמְכֶם לָשֹׂבַע, וּבַקְּלָלוֹת – וַאֲכַלְתֶּם וְלֹא תִשְׂבָּעוּ, וְזֶה קָשֶׁה לָהֶם מִן הַכֹּל. מָה הַטַּעַם? שֶׁכָּתוּב (שמות טז) מִי יִתֵּן מוּתֵנוּ בְּיַד ה’ בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וְגוֹ’. אָמַר רַבִּי זֵירָא, מְלַמֵּד שֶׁמִּשּׁוּם הָאֲכִילָה מָסְרוּ נַפְשָׁם לָמוּת בְּיָדָם. כֵּיוָן שֶׁרָאָה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא תַּאֲוָתָם, אָמַר לָהֶם: אִם תִּשְׁמְעוּ לְקוֹל הַמִּצְווֹת – וַאֲכַלְתֶּם לָשֹׂבַע, כְּדֵי לְהָנִיחַ דַּעְתָּם. כְּמוֹ כֵן רָאוּ רַבּוֹתֵינוּ שֶׁהַגָּלוּת נִמְשֶׁכֶת, הִסְתַּמְּכוּ עַל פְּסוּקֵי הַתּוֹרָה, וְאָמְרוּ שֶׁעֲתִידִים לֶאֱכֹל וְלִשְׂמֹחַ בִּסְעוּדָה גְּדוֹלָה שֶׁעָתִיד הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא לַעֲשׂוֹת לָהֶם, וְעַל כֵּן רֹב הָעוֹלָם סָבְלוּ אֶת הַגָּלוּת מִשּׁוּם אוֹתָהּ הַסְּעוּדָה.<\/div>\n

\nRabbi Yitzchak keep asking about the future feast of the Tzadikim. He was trying to understand Exodus 24:11<\/a> “and they saw God, and they ate and drank.”

\nThe special feast that the Holy One Blessed Be He will serve us is a great motivation. The Israelites<\/a> expressed their desire for food immediately after they left Egypt. The moment they experienced lack of food they complained and were ready to die in Egypt rather than have faith<\/a> in YHVH<\/a> to provide them with food.
\nExodus 16:3<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֲלֵהֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִי יִתֵּן מוּתֵנוּ בְיַד יְהוָה בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בְּשִׁבְתֵּנוּ עַל סִיר הַבָּשָׂר בְּאָכְלֵנוּ לֶחֶם לָשֹׂבַע כִּי הוֹצֵאתֶם אֹתָנוּ אֶל הַמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה לְהָמִית אֶת כָּל הַקָּהָל הַזֶּה בָּרָעָב”
\n“The sons of Israel<\/a> said to them, “Would that we had died by YHVH<\/a>’S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
\nIn the portion of Bechukotai, God explains the good and bad side of following his laws. If they follow them, they will enjoy plenty food and peace in the land.
\nLeviticus 26:5<\/a>
\n“וְהִשִּׂיג לָכֶם דַּיִשׁ אֶת בָּצִיר וּבָצִיר יַשִּׂיג אֶת זָרַע וַאֲכַלְתֶּם לַחְמְכֶם לָשֹׂבַע וִישַׁבְתֶּם לָבֶטַח בְּאַרְצְכֶם.”
\n“’Indeed, your threshing will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time. You will thus eat your food to the full and live securely in your land.”
\nIf they don’t follow the laws they will be cursed and experience lack of food. The little that they may have won’t satisfy them. The promises for good and bad are closely related to food.
\nLeviticus 26:26<\/a>
\n“בְּשִׁבְרִי לָכֶם מַטֵּה לֶחֶם וְאָפוּ עֶשֶׂר נָשִׁים לַחְמְכֶם בְּתַנּוּר אֶחָד וְהֵשִׁיבוּ לַחְמְכֶם בַּמִּשְׁקָל וַאֲכַלְתֶּם וְלֹא תִשְׂבָּעוּ”
\n“’When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread in rationed amounts, so that you will eat and not be satisfied.”
\nThe main desire of people is to exist and enjoy the pleasures of the material world. God promised to serve us a special feast to encourage us to follow the righteous path.
\nThose who follow the Torah and read the promises of the future, care less about the current difficulties and choose the path to earn them a seat in the dining table of God.
