49. אֶלָּא הַכֹּל הָיָה נָאֶה, וְיַעֲקֹב לֹא הָיָה רוֹצֶה לִסְמֹךְ עַל נֵס שֶׁל הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁחָשַׁב שֶׁאֵינוֹ כְּדַאי שֶׁהַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה לוֹ נֵס, מָה הַטַּעַם? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁלֹּא עָבַד אֶת אָבִיו וְאִמּוֹ כָּרָאוּי וְלֹא הִשְׁתַּדֵּל בַּתּוֹרָה וְנָשָׂא שְׁתֵּי אֲחָיוֹת, וְאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁהַכֹּל נִתְבָּאֵר. וְעִם כָּל זֶה צָרִיךְ לָאָדָם לִפְחֹד תָּמִיד וּלְהִתְפַּלֵּל לִפְנֵי הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא בִּתְפִלָּה, שֶׁכָּתוּב אַשְׁרֵי אָדָם מְפַחֵד תָּמִיד [וְלִפְחֹד תָּמִיד מִלִּפְנֵי הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא], וַהֲרֵי פֵּרְשׁוּהָ.

\nEven though Jacob didn’t need to fear his brother, he didn’t want to rely on miracles that God may do for him. He thought that he may not be worthy of God’s miracles. He had doubts about his purity because he was with wicked Laban for 22 years and married two sisters.
\nEven though Jacob conducted himself with purity during the entire time with Laban, he saw himself as incomplete.
\nA righteous person cannot consider himself as completely pure because unknowingly he may make mistakes and therefore always in fear of losing the Light.

\nThe prayers of the patriarchs sustained the world and we are dependent on them. They established the connection to the upper three Sefirot where the life force comes to the world. At the highest level of our prayers we start by addressing God as the God of Abraham, God of Isaac and God of Jacob. We don’t just say the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that is sufficient for understanding but because they are the chariots to the Right, Left and Central column. We create proper connection the way the sages prepared the prayers for us.
\nLeviticus 26:42<\/a>
\n“וְזָכַרְתִּי, אֶת-בְּרִיתִי יַעֲקוֹב; וְאַף אֶת-בְּרִיתִי יִצְחָק וְאַף אֶת-בְּרִיתִי אַבְרָהָם, אֶזְכֹּר–וְהָאָרֶץ אֶזְכֹּר”
\n“then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.”
\nThe name Jacob is normally spelled ‘יַעֲקב’ but in this verse it is written with extra Vav “ו” that represent the central column “יַעֲקוֹב”.
\nJacob is important because he unifies the Right and the Left to the Central column and open the channel for the Light of mercy to flow down to this world.
