53. פָּתַח אוֹתוֹ הַיְּהוּדִי אַחֲרָיו וְאָמַר, (דברים ח) וְאָכַלְתָּ וְשָׂבָעְתָּ וּבֵרַכְתָּ אֶת ה’ אֱלֹהֶיךָ. וְכִי לֹא מְבָרְכִים אֶת הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא טֶרֶם נֹאכַל, וַהֲרֵי יֵשׁ לָנוּ לְהַקְדִּים בַּבֹּקֶר, וּלְסַדֵּר אֶת הַשֶּׁבַח שֶׁלּוֹ [שֶׁל רִבּוֹנוֹ] כָּרָאוּי, וּלְבָרֵךְ אֶת שְׁמוֹ טֶרֶם שֶׁיְּבָרֵךְ מִישֶׁהוּ אַחֵר בָּעוֹלָם, וְכָתוּב (ויקרא יט) לֹא תֹאכְלוּ עַל הַדָּם, אָסוּר לוֹ לֶאֱכֹל טֶרֶם שֶׁיְּבָרֵךְ אֶת רִבּוֹנוֹ, וְעַכְשָׁו כָּתוּב וְאָכַלְתָּ וְשָׂבָעְתָּ וּבֵרַכְתָּ?.
\n54. אֶלָּא, זוֹ הַבְּרָכָה שֶׁל תְּפִלַּת הַיִּחוּד, וְזוֹ בִּרְכַּת הַמָּזוֹן, לְהַרְאוֹת כְּלַפֵּי דַרְגַּת הָאֱמוּנָה שָׂבָע כָּרָאוּי. וְאָז צָרִיךְ לְבָרֵךְ אוֹתוֹ כָּרָאוּי, שֶׁאוֹתָהּ הַדַּרְגָּה שֶׁל הָאֱמוּנָה תִּתְרַוֶּה וְתִתְבָּרֵךְ, וְיִתְמַלֵּא שִׂמְחָה מֵהַחַיִּים שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה כְּמוֹ שֶׁצָּרִיךְ, כְּדֵי לָתֵת לָנוּ מְזוֹנוֹת.<\/div>\n

\nDeuteronomy 8:10<\/a>
\n“וְאָכַלְתָּ, וְשָׂבָעְתָּ–וּבֵרַכְתָּ אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, עַל-הָאָרֶץ הַטֹּבָה אֲשֶׁר נָתַן-לָךְ”
\n“And you shall eat and be satisfied, and you shall bless YHVH<\/a> your God for the good land he has given you.”
\nThe verse instructs us to eat, be satisfied and then make a blessing. We usually bless the Holy One Blessed Be He before eating and before any other mitzvah. Here the instruction is to make the blessing after the eating.
\nThe Zohar adds that before we bless other people (like good morning etc.) we should do our morning prayers.
\nDuring the night our soul leaves the body in a state of almost death. In the morning we need to renew the Life energy in the body using the prayers that connect us back to the Light.
\nLeviticus 19:26<\/a>
\n“לֹא תֹאכְלוּ, עַל-הַדָּם; לֹא תְנַחֲשׁוּ, וְלֹא תְעוֹנֵנוּ”
\n“You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor practice divination or soothsaying.”
\nThe blood is the carrier of the lower level of the soul and keeps us alive in this world. In the morning we need to re energise the soul with proper prayers before connecting to food or other people.

\nBefore we eat a meal to satisfy our hunger we wash our hands and make blessing on the bread. The first blessing creates unification of the Light and vessel so the food we are about to consume would have the energy of life from the upper levels.
\nAfter we finished eating we make several blessings that manifest the Light in our lives. These blessings are very important because they connect us to spiritual and material sustenance.
\nLessons:
\nBefore you leave home in the morning we should do spiritual connection. Make the 18 blessings and the Shema Israel<\/a> before leaving home, even if you are on the way to the synagogue to pray with others. If you see the neighbour on your way out then you can say good morning because you already made the higher connection and your blood was energized.
\nFood sustains us in this world so we can have the physical energy to do the spiritual work that nourish and sustains the soul. Food and blessings are very important. When we eat we make blessings to have the proper energy in the body. When we do a mitzvah we give thanks for the body God gave us to follow his laws.
