Tikkun 21<\/strong> – 170<\/p>\n

On Yom Kippur we have the opportunity to control the selfish desires, which is the cause of negativity in our lives.<\/p>\n

The sages said “איזהו גיבור הכובש את יצרו”
\n“Hero is the one that conquers his desires.”<\/p>\n

The word for “conquers” appears first time in the Torah in Genesis 1:28<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם אֱלֹהִים פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ וּמִלְאוּ אֶת-הָאָרֶץ, וְכִבְשֻׁהָ”
\n“And God told them, be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and conquer it”<\/p>\n

This means that we should have full control and dominion over everything. The sages used the proper word for it. We need not eliminate the desires, but to have full control over them. In order to have dominion over the physical world we need to control our desires. We should use them to work for us.<\/p>\n

Yom Kippur takes us to the 5 restrictions;
\n1. Eating & Drinking – draws physical energy and locks us in the body consciousness.
\n2. Washing – disrupts the positive spiritual energy of Binah<\/a> that comes on Yom Kippur
\n3. Leather – connects to death –
\n4. Marital relations – draws only specific light from Zeir Anpin<\/a>
\n5. Anointing one’s body – draws specific light from Chokmah<\/a>
\nWhen we disconnect from the ‘gravity’ of the material level, we can easily ascend to the spiritual level of Binah<\/a> and enjoy the 5 spiritual meals of Yom Kippur.<\/p>\n

This principal should be used in everyday life. When we want to connect higher to spiritual energy, we better lower the desires of the body.
\nApply this principal before meditation, before sex, before study, before giving lectures, before important business meeting, before taking exams etc.<\/p>\n

To have control over our lives we need to exercise restrictions on the desires toward things of physical mater. When we do so, we tap into unlimited potential that comes from the spiritual system.<\/p>\n
