\n“Now when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people assembled about Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us a god who will go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”
\nWhile Moses was in Egypt and talking to Pharaoh, he didn’t mention the name ELHYM, only YHVH<\/a>. Pharaoh was upset because as a great magician with strong spiritual understanding, he didn’t know YHVH. ELHYM is the aspect of Gevurah<\/a>, the force that created the world and also control the other side<\/a>. Moses introduce another divine force that Pharaoh didn’t know and that weakened his faith<\/a> in his spiritual system.
\nThe Erev Rav came to Aaron asking “Come, make us a god”. They wanted to connect Aaron’s channel to the name ELHYM and draw energy to create the Golden Calf. This was one of the reason why Moses didn’t mention the name ELHYM.

\nThe Erev Rav saw the clouds of Honor and the pillar of fire that were leading the Israelites<\/a>. They wanted to have their own connection and force to lead them. When they said ‘make us a god who will go before us’, they revealed their intentions and desire to have a force like the Israelites.
\nLessons;
\nMany of us try make connections using lower level alternatives like jewelry with names and other ‘idol worship’ items including special rituals to feel connected.
\nWe should remember that our souls are sparks from the light of the Endless and our body is only a ‘container’ for it. If we focus on the material aspects, we create greater separations and distance from the desired Light. When we connect to the sacred text of Torah and Zohar, our souls make better and stronger connections to the Light that guides us to where we need to be.
