52. וְלָמַדְנוּ, מַה שֶּׁכָּתוּב (שם לד) וַיֵּרֶד ה’ בֶּעָנָן. בֶּעָנָן אֵרָאֶה עַל הַכַּפֹּרֶת. לָמַדְנוּ, מָקוֹם שֶׁהָיוּ שׁוֹרִים הַכְּרוּבִים הַלָּלוּ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁבֵּאַרְנוּ, שֶׁהַכְּרוּבִים עַל אוֹת הָיוּ יוֹשְׁבִים. וְלָמַדְנוּ, שָׁלֹשׁ פְּעָמִים בַּיּוֹם הִתְרַחֵשׁ נֵס בְּכַנְפֵיהֶם. בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁהִתְגַּלְּתָה עֲלֵיהֶם קְדֻשַּׁת הַמֶּלֶךְ, הֵם מֵעַצְמָם הָיוּ מַעֲלִים כַּנְפֵיהֶם וּפוֹרְשִׂים אוֹתָם וּמְכַסִּים עַל הַכַּפֹּרֶת. אַחר כָּךְ סוֹגְרִים כַּנְפֵיהֶם וְנֶאֱחָזִים בְּכַנְפֵיהֶם (וְנֶאֱחָזִים בְּגוּפָם), כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שם כה) וְהָיוּ הַכְּרֻבִים פֹּרְשֵׂי כְנָפַיִם לְמַעְלָה. פֹּרְשֵׂי וְלֹא פְּרוּשֵׂי. סֹכֲכִים וְלֹא סְכוּכִים. זֶה בְּאוֹת (בְּזֹאת) הָיוּ עוֹמְדִים וּשְׂמֵחִים עִם הַשְּׁכִינָה.
\n53. אָמַר רַבִּי אַבָּא, מָה רָצָה כָּאן, כִּי בֶּעָנָן אֵרָאֶה עַל הַכַּפֹּרֶת, וְכָתוּב בְּזֹאת יָבֹא אַהֲרֹן, וַהֲרֵי הַכֹּהֵן אֵינוֹ רוֹאֶה אֶת הַשְּׁכִינָה בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁנִּכְנָס? אֶלָּא עָנָן הָיָה יוֹרֵד, וּכְשֶׁהָיָה יוֹרֵד, מַגִּיעַ עַל הַכַּפֹּרֶת הַזּוֹ וּמִתְעוֹרְרִים כַּנְפֵי הַכְּרוּבִים, וּמַקִּישִׁים בָּהֶם וְאוֹמְרִים שִׁירָה.<\/div>\n

\nRabbi Yehuda praises the righteous that God wish to honor. If a king of flesh and blood rides his horse, then he’s mortal. Elijah had a different ‘ride’ as it is written ‘And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven’;
\n2 Kings 2:11<\/a>
\n“וַיְהִי, הֵמָּה הֹלְכִים הָלוֹךְ וְדַבֵּר, וְהִנֵּה רֶכֶב-אֵשׁ וְסוּסֵי אֵשׁ, וַיַּפְרִדוּ בֵּין שְׁנֵיהֶם; וַיַּעַל, אֵלִיָּהוּ, בַּסְעָרָה, הַשָּׁמָיִם”
\n“As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot<\/a> of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven”
\nGod gave Elijah a special ride to heavens. God also communicated with Job from within a whirlwind.
\nJob 38:1<\/a>
\n“וַיַּעַן-יְהוָה אֶת-אִיּוֹב, מנהסערה (מִן הַסְּעָרָה); וַיֹּאמַר”
\n“Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,”
\nWhen God reveals himself in the Holy of Holies, it happens through a form of cloud.
\nLeviticus 16:2<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל מֹשֶׁה דַּבֵּר אֶל אַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ וְאַל יָבֹא בְכָל עֵת אֶל הַקֹּדֶשׁ מִבֵּית לַפָּרֹכֶת אֶל פְּנֵי הַכַּפֹּרֶת אֲשֶׁר עַל הָאָרֹן וְלֹא יָמוּת כִּי בֶּעָנָן אֵרָאֶה עַל הַכַּפֹּרֶת”
\n“YHVH<\/a> said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat (Pronounced ‘Kaporet’ כַּפֹּרֶת ) which is on the ark, or he will die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.”
\nExodus 24:18<\/a>
\n“וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה בְּתוֹךְ הֶעָנָן, וַיַּעַל אֶל-הָהָר; וַיְהִי מֹשֶׁה, בָּהָר, אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם, וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה”
\n“Moses entered the midst of the cloud as he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.”
\n‘or I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat’ The Zohar explains that God took Moses into a real cloud to bring him up the mountain. It’s was like a special elevator to bring Moses from the lower level to the top of the mountain, to meet with God.
\nExodus 40:38<\/a>
\n“כִּי עֲנַן יְהוָה עַל הַמִּשְׁכָּן יוֹמָם וְאֵשׁ תִּהְיֶה לַיְלָה בּוֹ לְעֵינֵי כָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכָל מַסְעֵיהֶם.”
\n“For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of YHVH<\/a> was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel<\/a>.”
\nThe cloud of God escorted the Israelites<\/a> on their journeys in the wilderness. It was how the Light of YHVH<\/a> connected to the Holy Tabernacle.

\nExodus 34:5<\/a>
\n“וַיֵּרֶד יְהוָה בֶּעָנָן וַיִּתְיַצֵּב עִמּוֹ שָׁם וַיִּקְרָא בְשֵׁם יְהוָה”
\n“YHVH<\/a> descended in the cloud and stood there with him as he called upon the name of YHVH<\/a>.”
\nYHVH<\/a> descended on the Kaport, which is the top of the Holy Ark. On that place where the cherubim , two golden images like angels, spreading their wings across the top of the Ark. The Zohar reveals that at this point the Light was connected to Malchut<\/a>. The two cherubim , represents the angels Metat— and Sandal—. There times a day a miracles was happening. When the Light revealed himself during the services in the Holy Tabernacles, the Shechinah revealed in their wings. At normal state their wings were close to their body and when the Shechina appears they spread their wings over the Kaporet. Even though they were made from one piece of Gold, they moved could move their wings. The way the verse was written revealed the ability of the Cherubim to spread wings.
\nExodus 25:20<\/a>
\n“וְהָיוּ הַכְּרֻבִים פֹּרְשֵׂי כְנָפַיִם לְמַעְלָה, סֹכְכִים בְּכַנְפֵיהֶם עַל-הַכַּפֹּרֶת, וּפְנֵיהֶם, אִישׁ אֶל-אָחִיו; אֶל-הַכַּפֹּרֶת–יִהְיוּ, פְּנֵי הַכְּרֻבִים”
\n“The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat (Kaporet) with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be”

\nRabbi Aba explains that high priest sees the Shechinah in the cloud when he does his service for the people. When he went into the Holy of Holies he saw Cherubim spread their sings and singing. He knew that the Shechina is present.
\nLesson:
\nThe cloud is a median between Air (Spiritual) and Water (physical). It’s the way Elijah and moses moved between dimension. A baby in a womb must be in water for 40 days in order to receive his soul.
\nAfter Mashiach brings peace to the world and resurrection we can use clouds to move across large distances. With their special meditations, great Kabbalists could form a cloud and ask it to take them wherever they want.
