\n“וְהִתְנַחֲלְתֶּם אֹתָם לִבְנֵיכֶם אַחֲרֵיכֶם לָרֶשֶׁת אֲחֻזָּה לְעֹלָם בָּהֶם תַּעֲבֹדוּ וּבְאַחֵיכֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִישׁ בְּאָחִיו לֹא תִרְדֶּה בוֹ בְּפָרֶךְ.”
\n“’You may even bequeath them to your sons after you, to receive as a possession; you can use them as permanent slaves. But in respect to your countrymen, the sons of Israel<\/a>, you shall not rule with severity over one another.”
\nThe Torah tells us not to use our fellow Israelites<\/a> as servants so there will be no situation of causing them hard labor. Only non-Israelites can be used for hard work. The servants can be inherited as they can be permanent slaves but not Israelites<\/a>. An Israelite servant must be released on the Jubilee year while non-Israelite, which is one out of the path of light can be ‘locked’ in ‘slavery.’
\nGenesis 9:25<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר אָרוּר כְּנָעַן עֶבֶד עֲבָדִים יִהְיֶה לְאֶחָיו.”
\n“So he said, “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brothers.”
\nThe Zohar asks; why a ‘servant of servants’ and answer that it is a permanent state of slavery. Canaan was cursed by Noah, his grandfather because of Ham, his father, exposed and corrupted the level of Yesod<\/a>. He was cursed to be a slave under his uncles, Shem and Japheth.
\nEliezer, Abraham’s servant, came from Ham like Canaan, but he was righteous and blessed by God (Genesis 24:31<\/a>).

\nThe Zohar reveals here secrets of reincarnations. Light can come from darkness. Eliezer went from the ‘darkness’ of Ham and became a servant to Abraham that was righteous even though he came from Terach that was an idol worshipper.
\n‘Darkness’ can come from light as we see with Ishmael coming out of Abraham and Esau that came from Isaac.
\nLesson;
\nWe have the freedom to choose the path of light even if we find ourselves in a state of ‘darkness.’ If a person was born into a negative house\/parents, he can still go for the light and becomes righteous. Even a person from a ‘cursed’ seed, like Eliezer, can be righteous and blessed by God.
\nIt’s always our choice to transform darkness to Light. Eliezer was Abraham’s servant and chose to follow his master’s instructions. He was faithful and earned many merits.
\nMany non-Jews find the light of the Zohar and come closer. The next step for them is to follow the laws of the Torah gradually to attach themselves to the Light. Doing so would free them from reincarnation back into the darkness that is the aspect of ‘Servant of servants.’
\nIt’s hard to find righteous people to serve, follow and earn merits but we have the Torah and Zohar that guide us on the righteous path and build a large vessel with great light. Keeping with Daily Zohar studies and following the teachings put us on the path of righteousness and Light.
