76. מִשּׁוּם שֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל קָרָא לָהֶם עֲבָדִים, שֶׁכָּתוּב (ויקרא כה) כִּי לִי בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲבָדִים עֲבָדַי הֵם. מָה הַטַּעַם הֵם עֲבָדִים? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁכָּתוּב אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתִי אוֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם. וּמִשּׁוּם כָּךְ כָּתוּב בַּעֲשֶׂרֶת הַדִּבְּרוֹת אַחַר כָּךְ, שֶׁכָּתוּב אָנֹכִי ה’ אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתִיךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם, לַעֲבֹד אוֹתוֹ כְּעֶבֶד שֶׁעוֹבֵד אֶת רַבּוֹ שֶׁפָּדָה אוֹתוֹ מִמָּוֶת, וְשֶׁפָּדָה אוֹתוֹ מִכָּל הָרָעוֹת שֶׁל הָעוֹלָם.
\n77. בִּשְׁנֵי סוּגִים (שֵׁמוֹת אֵלּוּ) נִקְרָאִים יִשְׂרָאֵל לַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא עֲבָדִים, שֶׁכָּתוּב עֲבָדַי הֵם (שם), וְנִקְרָאִים בָּנִים, שֶׁכָּתוּב (דברים יד) בָּנִים אַתֶּם לַה’ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. בִּזְמַן שֶׁמַּכִּיר הָאָדָם אֶת הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא בְּדֶרֶךְ כְּלָל, אָז הוּא נִקְרָא עֶבֶד שֶׁעוֹשֶׂה מִצְוַת רַבּוֹ, וְאֵין לוֹ רְשׁוּת לְחַפֵּשׂ בִּגְנָזָיו וּבְסוֹדוֹת בֵּיתוֹ. בִּזְמַן שֶׁמַּכִּיר אוֹתוֹ הָאָדָם בְּדֶרֶךְ פְּרָט, אָז נִקְרָא בֵּן, אָהוּב שֶׁלּוֹ, כְּמוֹ בֵּן שֶׁמְּחַפֵּשׂ בִּגְנָזָיו, בְּכָל סוֹדוֹת בֵּיתוֹ.
\n78. וְאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁנִּקְרָא בֵּן, בֵּן בְּכוֹר לַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (שמות ד) בְּנִי בְכֹרִי יִשְׂרָאֵל, אַל יוֹצִיא אֶת עַצְמוֹ מִכְּלָל שֶׁל עֶבֶד, לַעֲבֹד אֶת אָבִיו בְּכָל הָעֲבוֹדוֹת שֶׁהֵן כְּבוֹד אָבִיו. וְכָךְ צָרִיךְ לְכָל בֶּן אָדָם לִהְיוֹת בֵּן לְגַבֵּי אָבִיו, לְחַפֵּשׂ בִּגְנָזָיו וְלָדַעַת סוֹדוֹת בֵּיתוֹ וּלְהִשְׁתַּדֵּל אַחֲרֵיהֶם, וְלִהְיוֹת עֶבֶד לְגַבֵּי אָבִיו.<\/div>\n

\nLeviticus 25:55<\/a>
\n“כִּי לִי בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲבָדִים עֲבָדַי הֵם אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתִי אוֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם.”
\n“’For the sons of Israel<\/a> are My servants; they are My servants whom I brought out from the land of Egypt. I am YHVH<\/a> your God.”
\nIt’s a precept to do all kind of work in the Holy Temple and outside of it. The work includes all kind of services like praying, and follow the Torah laws like a servant does his best for his master.

\nThe question is why God called the Israelites<\/a> his servants, and the answer is because He brought them out of Egypt. The first commandment says, “I am your God that took you out of Egypt.”
\nGod saved the Israelites<\/a> from evil, darkness, and death that come from the other-side<\/a>. He connected us to Life that we receive when we serve him according to the guidance of the Torah.
\nThe word for ‘servant’ is ‘עבד’ that means work, worker, slave, servant. The focus is on the ‘earnings’ that comes from following the work that God guides us to do in the Torah.

\nDeuteronomy 14:1<\/a>
\n“בָּנִים אַתֶּם, לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם”
\n“You are the sons of YHVH<\/a> your God.”
\nThe Israelites<\/a> are called ‘sons of YHVH<\/a>’ and also ‘servants of YHVH<\/a>”. When a person recognizes the Holy One Blessed be He as a general acceptance of the Torah, he is like a servant that follows his master’s will. When a person goes into more in-depth studies and connection to his master he is called a ‘beloved son’ that has permissions to dig out all the secrets of the ‘palace,’ where regular servants don’t have access.

\nEven if one is on the level of a beloved son, he shouldn’t separate himself from being a servant. He ought to follow the work to honor his father. Everyone should be like a son to have access to the secrets places of the palace and at the same time, be as a servant to his father to connect to his honor.
\nLesson;
\nThe more in-depth study of the Torah is the Zohar that reveals the secrets of the ‘palace’ that is the spiritual system that was created for us to ‘dig out’ and reveal secrets. The secrets let us ‘dwell’ in the palace and benefit from all the good it offers.
\nFollowing the laws of the Torah without deeper study earns us merits but not like sons of the King that can go anywhere in the palace.
