These letters are not merely symbols but are understood to be active spiritual forces that &amp;quot;engrave&amp;quot; the structure of reality. According to &amp;lt;em&amp;gt;Sefer Yetzirah&amp;lt;\/em&amp;gt;, God &amp;quot;engraved&amp;quot; these letters in three primary dimensions: space, time, and soul.
