98. פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (דברים ב) וַיֹּאמֶר ה’ אֵלַי אַל תָּצַר אֶת מוֹאָב וְגוֹ’. וַיֹּאמֶר ה’ אֵלַי, וְכִי עַד עַכְשָׁו לֹא יָדַעְנוּ שֶׁעִם מֹשֶׁה הָיָה מְדַבֵּר הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא וְלֹא עִם אַחֵר שֶׁכָּתוּב וַיֹּאמֶר ה’ אֵלַי?! אֵלַי לָמָּה? אֶלָּא אֶת מֹשֶׁה צִוָּה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא שֶׁלֹּא לְהַזִּיק אֶת מוֹאָב, אֲבָל לְאַחֵר לֹא. לְדָוִד לֹא צִוָּה אֶת זֶה, וּמִשּׁוּם זֶה, אֵלַי אַל תָּצַר אֶת מוֹאָב, אֲפִלּוּ לִתְחוּם קָטָן שֶׁלָּהֶם, שֶׁהֲרֵי מִכֶּם יֵצֵא מִי שֶׁיִּתֵּן נְקָמוֹת לְיִשְׂרָאֵל וְיִנְקֹם נִקְמוֹתֵיהֶם, וְהוּא דָּוִד שֶׁבָּא מֵרוּת הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּה.
\n99. וְאַל תִּתְגָּר בָּם מִלְחָמָה. כָּל זֶה צִוָּה אֶת מֹשֶׁה, אֲבָל לְאַחֵר מֻתָּר. וְאִם תֹּאמַר לִיהוֹשֻׁעַ וְלַזְּקֵנִים שֶׁהָיוּ שֶׁהֶאֱרִיכוּ יָמִים אַחֲרָיו מֻתָּר – לֹא כָּךְ, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁכֻּלָּם מִבֵּית דִּין שֶׁל מֹשֶׁה הָיוּ, וּמַה שֶּׁנֶּאֱסַר לְמֹשֶׁה נֶאֱסַר לָהֶם. וְעוֹד, שֶׁלֹּא יָצְאוּ עֲדַיִן אוֹתָן מַרְגָּלִיּוֹת טוֹבוֹת, שֶׁהֲרֵי בִּימֵי הַשּׁוֹפְטִים יָצְאָה רוּת, וּבַת עֶגְלוֹן מֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב הָיְתָה. מֵת עֶגְלוֹן, שֶׁהָרַג אוֹתוֹ אֵהוּד, וּמִנּוּ מֶלֶךְ אַחֵר, וְזוֹ בִּתּוֹ שֶׁנִּשְׁאֲרָה, וְהָיְתָה בְּבֵית אוֹמֵן, וּבִשְׂדֵי מוֹאָב. כֵּיוָן שֶׁבָּא שָׁם אֱלִימֶלֶךְ, לְקָחָהּ לִבְנוֹ.<\/div>\n

\n” וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֵלַי אַל תָּצַר אֶת מוֹאָב וְאַל תִּתְגָּר בָּם מִלְחָמָה כִּי לֹא אֶתֵּן לְךָ מֵאַרְצוֹ יְרֻשָּׁה כִּי לִבְנֵי לוֹט נָתַתִּי אֶת עָר יְרֻשָּׁה”
\n“Then YHVH<\/a> said to me, ‘Do not harass Moab, nor provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land as a possession, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot as a possession.”
\nMoses tells the Israelites<\/a> ‘YHVH<\/a> said to me, ‘Do not harass Moab’. We can understand that God spoke to Moses but why he added ‘to me’. The answer is that the restriction was temporarily placed on Moses. The big plan was to wait for King David that will come out from Ruth the Moabite and he will take vengeance on them.

\n‘Do not provoke them to war’ was told to Moses and that included Joshua and the other elders of Israel<\/a> that were close to Moses and connected to him spiritually. Ruth came out only during the time of the Judges that ruled Israel<\/a>. She was the daughter of Eglon, the king of Moab. Eglon was killed by the judge Ehud ben Gera to ended the control of Moab over Israel<\/a> (See Judges 3:12<\/a>-30).
\nRuth stayed in Moab until Elimelech, from the tribe of Yehuda, moved to Moab and Ruth married his son, Boaz.<\/p>\n
