100. וְאִם תֹּאמַר שֶׁאֱלִימֶלֶךְ גִּיְּרָה שָׁם – לֹא. אֶלָּא כָּל דַּרְכֵי הַבַּיִת וְאֹכֶל וּמִשְׁתֶּה לָמְדָה. מָתַי הִתְגַּיְּרָה? אַחֲרֵי שֶׁהָלְכָה עִם נָעֳמִי, אָז אָמְרָה (רות א) עַמֵּךְ עַמִּי וֵאלֹהַיִךְ אֱלֹהַי. נַעֲמָה יָצְאָה בִּבְנֵי עַמּוֹן בִּימֵי דָוִד.
\n101. כְּשֶׁשָּׁרְתָה רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ עַל דָּוִד, אָמַר לוֹ, דָּוִד, כְּשֶׁמָּדַדְתִּי אֶת כָּל הָעוֹלָם וְהִפַּלְתִּי גוֹרָלוֹת, יִשְׂרָאֵל חֶבֶל נַחֲלָתוֹ הָיוּ, זָכַרְתִּי מַה שֶּׁעָשׂוּ מוֹאָב בְּחֶבֶל נַחֲלָתוֹ. מַה כָּתוּב? \n“כִּי חֵלֶק יְהֹוָה עַמּוֹ יַעֲקֹב חֶבֶל נַחֲלָתוֹ.”
\n“For YHVH<\/a>’S portion is His people; Jacob is the allotment of His line of inheritance.”
\nThe children of Israel<\/a> connect with a ‘line’ to YHVH<\/a>.
\nThe Moabites have hurt the Israelites<\/a> at the time of Moses and even after that. They held to the ‘line’ of Israel<\/a> and got marked for their negative deeds toward Israel<\/a>. King David could identify and kill the Moabites that were from the negative seed of those who hurt Israel<\/a>.
\n2 Samuel 8:2<\/a>
\n“וַיַּךְ אֶת מוֹאָב וַיְמַדְּדֵם בַּחֶבֶל הַשְׁכֵּב אוֹתָם אַרְצָה וַיְמַדֵּד שְׁנֵי חֲבָלִים לְהָמִית וּמְלֹא הַחֶבֶל לְהַחֲיוֹת וַתְּהִי מוֹאָב לְדָוִד לַעֲבָדִים נֹשְׂאֵי מִנְחָה.”
\n“He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.”

\nThe ‘full line’ was a connection to Malchut<\/a> that helped King David to tell who to kill and who to keep alive.
\nLesson:
\nThose who hurt the children of Israel<\/a> are remembered and when the time comes, even after many generations they will be ‘corrected’.
