76. וְעַל זֶה צָרִיךְ הָאָדָם שֶׁלֹּא יַעֲשֶׂה (יַעֲבִיר) טִנּוּף וְלִכְלוּךְ בְּשַׁעַר בֵּיתוֹ וְלֹא יִשְׁפֹּךְ מַיִם עֲכוּרִים. אֶחָד, שֶׁלֹּא יַעֲשֶׂה קָלוֹן לְשֵׁם רִבּוֹנוֹ. וְאֶחָד, שֶׁיֵּשׁ רְשׁוּת לְאוֹתוֹ הַמְחַבֵּל לְחַבֵּל. וְלָכֵן יִזָּהֵר הָאָדָם מִזֶּה, וְיִזָּהֵר הָאָדָם שֶׁלֹּא יִמְנַע מִשַּׁעַר בֵּיתוֹ שֵׁם רִבּוֹנוֹ.
\n77. וּכְשֶׁאָדָם מַתְקִין מְזוּזָה לְפִתְחוֹ, כְּשֶׁנִּכְנָס (אוֹתוֹ הָאָדָם), אוֹתוֹ יֵצֶר הָרָע וְאוֹתוֹ שֵׁד בְּעַל כָּרְחָם שׁוֹמְרִים אוֹתוֹ, וְאוֹמְרִים (תהלים קיח) זֶה הַשַּׁעַר לַה’ צַדִּיקִים יָבֹאוּ בוֹ. וּכְשֶׁלֹּא עוֹמֶדֶת מְזוּזָה בְּפֶתַח הָאִישׁ, יֵצֶר הָרָע וְאוֹתוֹ שֵׁד מִתְתַּקְּנִים כְּאֶחָד, שָׂמִים יְדֵיהֶם עַל רֹאשׁוֹ בִּזְמַן שֶׁנִּכְנָס, פּוֹתְחִים וְאוֹמְרִים: אוֹי לוֹ לִפְלוֹנִי שֶׁיָּצָא מֵרְשׁוּת רִבּוֹנוֹ! מֵאוֹתוֹ זְמַן הוּא עוֹמֵד בְּלִי שְׁמִירָה, שֶׁאֵין מִי שֶׁיִּשְׁמֹר עָלָיו. הָרַחֲמָן יַצִּילֵנוּ.<\/div>\n

\nWe should be careful from having any kind of dirty things or impurities by the opening of our homes. Water that washed the dirty floors inside should not be poured outside the door for the reasons that it would desecrate the name of God on the Mezuzah. Impurities by the door leave it without protection and the demon is allowed to inflict harm. The opening of the house should always be clean to respect the name and have our protector present at all times.

\nWhen the Mezuzah is properly installed on the doorpost, the evil inclination, and the demon at the door praising the people saying;
\nPsalms 118:20<\/a>
\n“זֶה הַשַּׁעַר לַיהוָה צַדִּיקִים יָבֹאוּ בוֹ”
\n“This is the gate of YHVH<\/a>; the righteous shall enter through it.”
\nWhen there is no Mezuzah then the demon and the evil inclination get greater strength. When a person comes to enter the door they put their hands on his head and say “Woe to this person that left the protection of his master”. From that point, that person is without protection and depends only on the mercy of God.
