52. וְעוֹד בְּדֶרֶךְ סוֹד, שֶׁכָּל הָעֲנִיִּים מִצַּד הָאוֹת ד’, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בָּהּ (תהלים קטז) דַּלּוֹתִי וְלִי יְהוֹשִׁיעַ. וְאוֹת ד’ שֶׁל אֶחָד שֶׁצָּרִיךְ לְהַאֲרִיךְ בָּהּ, זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב (דברים יז) לְהַאֲרִיךְ יָמִים עַל מַמְלַכְתּוֹ, וְלָכֵן צָרִיךְ לְהַאֲרִיךְ עַל הַשֻּׁלְחָן, שֶׁהִיא ד’, כְּלוּלָה מֵאַרְבַּע רַגְלַיִם שֶׁל הַשֻּׁלְחָן. בִּשְׁבִיל כְּבוֹד הָאוֹת ד’ צָרִיךְ לְהַאֲרִיךְ עַל הַשֻּׁלְחָן בִּשְׁבִיל הָעֲנִיִּים.
\n53. וּבִשְׁבִילוֹ בֵּאֲרוּ רַבּוֹתֵינוּ, שֶׁבִּקֵּשׁ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מִדָּה יָפָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹא מָצָא כְּמוֹ מִדַּת הַדַּלּוּת. וְהִקְשׁוּ עַל זֶה, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁבֵּאֲרוּהָ הָרִאשׁוֹנִים, כְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן מִינֵי מִיתוֹת שֶׁהֵם כְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן תּוֹצָאוֹת, וְחֶסְרוֹן כִּיס קָשֶׁה מִכֻּלָּם, וְאֵיךְ הֵם אוֹמְרִים שֶׁלֹּא נִמְצְאָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל מִדָּה יָפָה כְּמוֹ עֲנִיּוּת?<\/div>\n

\nPoor people have the aspect of the letter ‘ד’ Dalet. The name of the letter also means ‘poorness’. The Zohar tells us to stay longer by the meal table to give opportunity for poor people to join and enjoy energy of life.
\nThis spiritual aspect is about preparing enough food\/sustenance to we are able to share with as many as we can.
\nMalchut<\/a> is ‘poor’ because it doesn’t have light of its own. A poor person is considered as dead because they can’t sustain themselves. By giving Tzedaka, we draw light from the nine sefirot above Malchut<\/a> to sustain the ‘poor’, which is Malchut<\/a> below, with life force.
\nThe Chassadim<\/a> that comes with the act of Tzedaka bring the light of Chokmah<\/a> that is called in this case, ‘אור החיים’ ‘Light of Life’.
\nIt’s important to give on every opportunity, frequently, even small amounts because it creates continuation of flow of light in a person’s life and the world. Once a week before Shabbat is best time because the vessel of the giver opens the channel to receive from the Light of Shabbat that comes from Chokmah<\/a> and Binah<\/a>. Split your tithe into several amounts and give to those who reveal light in the world.

\n“וְאֶת-עַם עָנִי, תּוֹשִׁיעַ; וְעֵינֶיךָ עַל-רָמִים, תַּשְׁפִּיל.”
\n“You save poor people, and your eyes are on the haughty to bring them down.”
\nThe sages teach us that the Holy One Blessed be He, gave us the quality of being poor. The question is why ‘poorness’ is considered as a quality.
