47. אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, כָּתוּב (ויקרא טו) וְהִזַּרְתֶּם אֶת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִטֻּמְאָתָם וְגוֹ’ בְּטַמְּאָם אֶת מִשְׁכָּנִי אֲשֶׁר בְּתוֹכָם. וְהִזַּרְתֶּם, כְּמוֹ הַזָּר הַזֶּה, שֶׁהוּא זָר מִכֻּלָּם וְלֹא מִתְחַבֵּר בְּמַה שֶּׁאֵינוֹ שֶׁלּוֹ.

\nLeviticus 15:31<\/a>
\n“וְהִזַּרְתֶּם אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, מִטֻּמְאָתָם; וְלֹא יָמֻתוּ בְּטֻמְאָתָם, בְּטַמְּאָם אֶת-מִשְׁכָּנִי אֲשֶׁר בְּתוֹכָם”
\n“Thus you shall keep the sons of Israel<\/a> separated from their uncleanness so that they will not die in their uncleanness by their defiling My tabernacle that is among them.”
\nThe word ‘וְהִזַּרְתֶּם’ ‘keep separated’ comes from the root ‘זר,’ which means ‘foreigner.’ The priests<\/a> are commanded to separate the Israelites<\/a> from the ‘foreign’ and impure energies that block the light from reaching them. The impurities draw judgment and when they are coming close to the Holy, the impurity must be eliminated and may cause ‘spiritual’ death of the person who carries it

\nWhen people connect to impurities in Malchut<\/a>, it affects their whole and has the aspect of ‘foreigner.’ The rise of impurity below activates another level of impurity on higher levels, and it receives permission from the Holy side to go down and inflict judgments on the wicked.
\nThe Holy side always stops the negative side from taking control but when a person acts negatively and draws impurity on him the Holy protection is removed. The outcome has two negative spirits; one is the ‘foreign’ spirit of judgment and the spirit of impurity.
\nlesson;
\nWhen we are ‘clean’ we have a Holy force that protects us by giving us warning signs about going negative, but since we have the freedom to choose, our desires take over and allow impurities to cling to us. These impurities draw sooner of later judgments. The Torah in this portion teaches us what brings impurities and how to cleanse them with water or offerings.
\nThe rule is that if we want to come closer to the Holy, we need to be clean on a spiritual and physical level because otherwise, the Holy cannot be in our presence.
\nEven for a simple connection to bread, we need to wash our hands thee ways before blessings. It is recommended to wash hands even for a single blessing of food outside a full meal. The blessing itself draws the ‘Holy,’ and we don’t want the blessing to be rejected because we have ‘foreign’ energy attached to us.
\nThe best example of requiring purity before connecting to the Holy is when the High Priest enters the Holy of Holies on Yom Kippur to draw light for the whole world. If he’s not 100% pure, he dies because on the highest levels the channel must be pure.
\nWhen we come to study Zohar, we want to add holy to holy by having a pure consciousness and physically clean and dressed appropriately.
