\nNumbers 22:6<\/a>
\n“וְעַתָּה לְכָה נָּא אָרָה לִּי אֶת הָעָם הַזֶּה כִּי עָצוּם הוּא מִמֶּנִּי אוּלַי אוּכַל נַכֶּה בּוֹ וַאֲגָרְשֶׁנּוּ מִן הָאָרֶץ כִּי יָדַעְתִּי אֵת אֲשֶׁר תְּבָרֵךְ מְבֹרָךְ וַאֲשֶׁר תָּאֹר יוּאָר.”
\n“Now, therefore, please come, curse this people for me since they are too mighty for me; perhaps I may be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Zohar quoting this verse just before discussing the power of the words and prayers coming out of our mouths.<\/p>\n

Rabbi Aba says that there are three places where it mentions ‘prayer’. One of Moses (Psalms 90:1<\/a>), one of David (Psalms 86:1<\/a>) and one of the poor, Psalms 102:1<\/a>
\n“תְּפִלָּה לְעָנִי כִי יַעֲטֹף וְלִפְנֵי יְהוָה יִשְׁפֹּךְ שִׂיחוֹ.”
\n“A Prayer of the poor when he is faint and pours out his complaint before YHVH<\/a>.”
\nThere’s another one in Habakkuk 3:1<\/a>, “תְּפִלָּה לַחֲבַקּוּק הַנָּבִיא עַל שִׁגְיֹנוֹת.” “A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.”
\nRabbi Aba explains that even though the verse says ‘A Prayer of Habakkuk’, it wasn’t said as a prayer but praise to God for making miracles and bringing him back to life. Habakkuk was the son of the Shunammite. He was brought to life by the prophet Elisha (2 Kings 4).<\/p>\n

\nRabbi Aba adds that ‘A prayer of the poor’ is the highest among the three. It precedes the prayers of Moses and David and all other prayers in the world.<\/p>\n

\nWhen the Zohar refers to the name ‘The Holy One Blessed be He’, the reference is to Light that comes from the Endless and fills the entire Tree of Life<\/a>. King David describes in one short verse the power of the prayer of the poor as; God does ‘not neglect’, ‘not ignore’, ‘not turn away’ and ‘answer when they call’.
\nTo understand this amazing power of prayers, we should go back to the study of Creation and the Tree of Life<\/a>. The first step of Creation was to push away the light from a middle point and create a space that is lack of light, darkness. That step created a great desire to restore the light that was there before the restriction of the light. The space created is the aspect of ‘poor’ that is like a vacuum machine that is turned on when the desire for the light arises. ‘the prayer of Moses’ is the consciousness that is attached to the desire for the light.
\nThis ‘poor’ principal works for positive and for negative desires\/vessels. The greater the desire\/vessel, the greater the light that is drawn into the vessel. The big difference is that the light that is drawn by negative desires, comes attached with judgments that bring the aspect of death and breaks the vessel sooner or later.
\nSelfish desires are considered as negative because a vessel must have an opening for a continuation of the received light, otherwise, the vessel breaks.<\/p>\n
