Tikkun 24<\/strong> – 8<\/p>\n

Exodus 31:15<\/a>
\n“וְשָׁמְרוּ בְנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֶת-הַשַּׁבָּת, לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת-הַשַּׁבָּת לְדֹרֹתָם, בְּרִית עוֹלָם. ”
\n“Wherefore the children of Israel<\/a> shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. ”<\/p>\n

The word for ‘generations’ in the above verse has the same root as for the word ‘dwellings’ in Hebrew, דר דירה דייר. To keep the Shabbat we need to bring it in our dwellings.<\/p>\n

The outer aspect of this is that, the settings are the preparation of the Body and home. Cleaning them before Shabbat as well as wearing cloths that are dedicated for this day are significant aspects of this connection.<\/p>\n

The lighting of the candles is the transformation from the weekdays into Shabbat. The candles should stay lit for at least five hours to reveal the light of the Shechina.<\/p>\n

The dinner table with the arrangement of the Challahs is equivalent to the settings in the Tabernacle. All together these become powerful spiritual tools to connect and draw the light of Shabbat.<\/p>\n

The inner aspect of the ‘dwelling’ of light is the preparation of the soul. We should disconnect from all weekday activities and dedicate Shabbat for spiritual connection. Reading and scanning of the Zohar brings high spiritual elevation.<\/p>\n

The whole preparation process for Shabbat is like removing the foreskin to reveal the covenant, בְּרִית, which is the ability to connect to the light.<\/p>\n
