97. עַד שֶׁהָיוּ הוֹלְכִים, יָרַד הַלַּיְלָה. אָמְרוּ, מַה נַּעֲשֶׂה? אִם נֵלֵךְ – חָשַׁךְ הַלַּיְלָה. אִם נֵשֵׁב – פַּחַד הוּא. סָטוּ מֵהַדֶּרֶךְ וְיָשְׁבוּ תַּחַת אִילָן אֶחָד. וְיָשְׁבוּ וְהָיוּ אוֹמְרִים דִּבְרֵי תוֹרָה, וְלֹא יָשְׁנוּ.
\n98. בַּחֲצוֹת הַלַּיְלָה רָאוּ אַיָּלָה אַחַת שֶׁעָבְרָה לִפְנֵיהֶם, וְהָיְתָה צוֹוַחַת וּמְרִימָה קוֹלוֹת. שָׁמְעוּ. קָמוּ רַבִּי חִיָּיא וְרַבִּי יוֹסֵי וְהִזְדַּעְזְעוּ. שָׁמְעוּ קוֹל אֶחָד שֶׁמַּכְרִיז וְאוֹמֵר: מִתְעוֹרְרִים קוּמוּ! יְשֵׁנִים הִתְעוֹרְרוּ! עוֹלָמוֹת הִזְדַּמְּנוּ לִפְנֵי אֲדוֹנְכֶם! \n99. אָמַר רַבִּי חִיָּיא, עַכְשָׁו חֲצוֹת הַלַּיְלָה מַמָּשׁ, וְקוֹל זֶה הוּא הַקּוֹל שֶׁיָּצָא, וְכוֹאֶבֶת הָאַיָּלָה שֶׁל מַעְלָה וּמַטָּה, שֶׁכָּתוּב (תהלים כט) קוֹל ה’ יְחוֹלֵל אַיָּלוֹת. אַשְׁרֵי חֶלְקֵנוּ שֶׁזָּכִינוּ לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶת זֶה!<\/div>\n

\nWhile Rabbi Chiya and Rabbi Yossi were on their way, the night fell. For their own safety, they decided to stop. They went off the path and sat under a tree. They didn’t sleep and were discussing words of Torah.<\/p>\n

\nAt midnight they saw a doe (איילה, a female deer) crossing in front of them while screaming. They stood up immediately, shaken. They heard a voice saying; “Raise up awakened people, wake up the sleepers!. Worlds! get ready for your master because he comes to the Garden of Eden that is his palace”
\nThe Holy One Blessed be He comes to entertain the Tzadikim, as we read in Psalms 29:9<\/a>
\n“קוֹל יְהוָה יְחוֹלֵל אַיָּלוֹת וַיֶּחֱשֹׂף יְעָרוֹת וּבְהֵיכָלוֹ כֻּלּוֹ אֹמֵר כָּבוֹד.”
\n“The voice of YHVH<\/a> makes the deer calve And strips the forests bare; And in His Palace, everything says, “Glory!”<\/p>\n

\nRabbi Chiya says that they are blessed to hear this voice. The Doe is the aspect of Malchut<\/a> and at the time of midnight, the Holy One Blessed be He comes to the Garden of Eden to be with the Tzadikim. The doe hears the voice and calves with fear. <\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nThe night is dark because of the lack of Chassadim<\/a> that is the aspect of the day. Rabbi Chiya and Rabbi Yossi stopped so they won’t come across forces of judgment from the dark-side. After midnight, the Right that is Chessed<\/a> begins its revelation and the Holy One Blessed be He, as Zeir Anpin<\/a> comes down and connects to the Tzadikim that are awake at this time.
\n“Raise up awakened people, wake up the sleepers!” The awakened are the Tzadikim in this world that wake up to study. The ‘sleepers’ are the Tzadikim of the past that are considered as “ישני עפר” “sleepers in the dust”. They wake up in the heavens to their studies of the supernal<\/a> levels.
\nThe voice is the aspect of Zeir Anpin<\/a> and when there’s a ‘movement’ of Light, a spiritual sound is heard on all levels. <\/p>\n

The Doe is the aspect of the Shechina in Malchut<\/a>. She is shaken when she feels the movement of Light coming down from above with the Light of Chassadim<\/a>.
