\n“וּבַמִּדְבָּר אֲשֶׁר רָאִיתָ אֲשֶׁר נְשָׂאֲךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר יִשָּׂא אִישׁ אֶת בְּנוֹ בְּכָל הַדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר הֲלַכְתֶּם עַד בֹּאֲכֶם עַד הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה.”
\n“and in the wilderness where you saw how YHVH<\/a> your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’”
\nDeuteronomy 8:15<\/a>
\n“הַמּוֹלִיכֲךָ בַּמִּדְבָּר הַגָּדֹל וְהַנּוֹרָא נָחָשׁ שָׂרָף וְעַקְרָב וְצִמָּאוֹן אֲשֶׁר אֵין מָיִם הַמּוֹצִיא לְךָ מַיִם מִצּוּר הַחַלָּמִישׁ.”
\n“who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock;”<\/p>\n

The elder quotes these verses and asks why God lead the Israelites<\/a> through the desert that is difficult to cross and full of dangerous elements.<\/p>\n

\nThe elder explains that when the Israelites<\/a> left Egypt they just became six hundred thousand people. Because of that, the holy side of Malchut<\/a> got stronger and elevated, and the Light shone in Malchut<\/a> and subdue the negative side.
\nThe minister of the negative side, Sam-l has dominion over the desert that is his dwelling place. The Holy One Blessed be He took the Israelites<\/a> through the desert to break the power and control of Sam-l. If the Israelites<\/a> didn’t sin, the Holy One Blessed be He would have removed him from the world.<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nRabbi Shimon asked previously about the ‘weight’ that the elder was carrying and the verses that the elder quotes tells about the Israelites<\/a> that God carried on his ‘shoulders’ like a father carries his son to protect him from harm.
\nOne of the thirteen attributes of God is נֹשֵׂא עָוֹן ‘carry (our) iniquity’ that means that he carries\/holds our ‘punishment\/‘correction’ on him, giving us opportunities to make the proper corrections by ourselves.
\nThe ‘fiery serpents and scorpions’ are aspects of ‘challenges’ in our lives (desert). They give us opportunities to break the control and influence of the other-side<\/a> on us.
\nThe Torah is the Light that helps us overcome the challenges. If we stay with the teachings of the Torah, we connect to the thirteen attributes of God that help us cross the ‘desert’ safely and reach the ‘promised Land’.
\nWe are living in a very challenging time on a personal and global level. YOU are not alone with serpents and scorpions on your path. We are all in the same desert but we can shrink it if we have certainty, keep moving forward toward the Light and soon we reach the promised land.
\nThe Holy Ari teaches us that when we are confused or lost our way on the path then we should turn to the Right because the Right is Chessed<\/a> and righteousness that connects us to the Holy One Blessed be He. He is close to us when we seek him.

\n“קָרוֹב יְהוָה לְכָל קֹרְאָיו לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר יִקְרָאֻהוּ בֶאֱמֶת.”
