101. רַבִּי חִיָּיא וְרַבִּי יוֹסֵי הָיוּ הוֹלְכִים מֵאוּשָׁא לִטְבֶרְיָה. אָמַר רַבִּי חִיָּיא, כָּתוּב (תהלים קלב) כִּי בָחַר ה’ בְּצִיּוֹן וְגוֹ’. זֹאת מְנוּחָתִי וְגוֹ’. לִפְעָמִים קוֹרְאִים אֶת זֶה כָּל הַחֲבֵרִים זָכָר, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהוּא (שֶׁצִּיּוֹן הוּא) רַחֲמִים, וְכָאן הַכָּתוּב קוֹרֵא אוֹתוֹ נְקֵבָה.
\n102. אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי, כָּךְ נִשְׁמָע לִי מֵהַמְּנוֹרָה הַקְּדוֹשָׁה, (אֲבָל) בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁהַזִּוּוּג מִזְדַּוֵּג כְּאֶחָד לְהַרְאוֹת שֶׁהַנְּקֵבָה נִכְלֶלֶת בּוֹ בִּכְלָל אֶחָד, הַנְּקֵבָה נִקְרֵאת בְּשֵׁם (הַזָּכָר), שֶׁהֲרֵי אָז נִמְצָאוֹת הַבְּרָכוֹת שֶׁל הַגְּבִירָה וְאֵין בָּהּ פְּרִישׁוּת כְּלָל, וְעַל כֵּן כָּתוּב לְמוֹשָׁב לוֹ. וְכָתוּב כִּי בָחַר ה’ בְּצִיּוֹן, בְּצִיּוֹן בְּדִיּוּק, בְּאוֹתוֹ שֶׁיֵּשׁ בְּתוֹכוֹ שֶׁשּׁוֹרֶה בּוֹ, וְלֹא כָתוּב לְצִיּוֹן, וְהַכֹּל אֶחָד. בֵּין שֶׁקּוֹרֵא לָזֶה בְּשֵׁם שֶׁל זָכָר, וּבֵין שֶׁקּוֹרֵא לָזֶה בְּשֵׁם שֶׁל נְקֵבָה, הַכֹּל אֶחָד וְעוֹמְדִים בְּדַרְגָּה אַחַת.
\n103. (פָּתַח רַבִּי יוֹסֵי וְאָמַר,) וְעַל זֶה כָּתוּב, (שם פז) וּלְצִיּוֹן יֵאָמֵר אִישׁ וְאִישׁ יוּלַד בָּהּ. אֶחָד לְדִין, וְאֶחָד לְרַחֲמִים. כְּשֶׁמִּזְדַּוְּגִים כְּאֶחָד בְּזִוּוּג אֶחָד, אָז נִקְרָא צִיּוֹן, וְצִיּוֹן וִירוּשָׁלַיִם יְדוּעִים, וְנִמְצָא שֶׁזֶּה תָלוּי בָּזֶה.<\/div>\n

Zohar Tzav<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPsalms 132:13<\/a>,14
\n“כִּי בָחַר יְהוָה בְּצִיּוֹן אִוָּהּ לְמוֹשָׁב לוֹ.”
\n“זֹאת מְנוּחָתִי עֲדֵי עַד פֹּה אֵשֵׁב כִּי אִוִּתִיהָ”
\n“For YHVH<\/a> has chosen Zion<\/a>; He has desired it for His dwelling place:”
\n“This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.”
\nRabbi Chiya and Rabbi Yossi were walking from Usha to Tiberia. Rabbi Chiya quotes the verse above and says that this verse references Zion<\/a> as a female when it says ‘זֹאת מְנוּחָתִי’ ‘This (female form) in my resting place’.
\nZion<\/a> is a male name and is Yessod<\/a> of Malchut<\/a>. There are inner and outer aspects of Yessod<\/a> of Malchut<\/a>. The inner is called Zion<\/a> with an aspect of Mercy. The outer is called Jerusalem<\/a> and has the aspect of judgment.<\/p>\n

\nRabbi Yossi says that the ‘Holy Candle<\/a>’, who is Rabbi Shimon, explains that when Malchut<\/a> is in unification with Zeir Anpin<\/a>, she becomes one with him and is called with the male name. Without unification, Malchut<\/a> is empty and incomplete. When in unification with Z”A she is filled with blessings and becomes fulfilled. For this reason the verse states ‘He has desired it (Zion<\/a>) for His dwelling place’ in a male form. When the Torah refers to Zion<\/a> as male or female it’s the same because they are on the same level.<\/p>\n

\nPsalms 87:5<\/a>
\n“וּלצִיּוֹן יֵאָמַר אִישׁ וְאִישׁ יֻלַּד בָּהּ וְהוּא יְכוֹנְנֶהָ עֶלְיוֹן”
\n“And of Zion<\/a>, it will be said, “This one (אִישׁ) and that one (וְאִישׁ) were born in her, And the Highest Himself shall establish her.”
\nThe verse uses the word ‘אִישׁ’ twice in reference to Zion<\/a>. One for the aspect of judgment and one for the aspect of mercy. The aspect of the judgment is called Jerusalem<\/a>. When Z”A and Malchut<\/a> are in unification, Yessod<\/a> of Malchut<\/a> is called Zion<\/a>. Zion<\/a> and Jerusalem<\/a> are dependent on each other because Zion<\/a> is the inner aspect and Jerusalem<\/a> is the outer aspect of the unification. <\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nThe sacred language of the Torah is Hebrew and male and female forms are significant to express the inner spiritual aspect, giving us a greater understanding of the flow of light from a male that is a channel of light to the female that is a vessel and receiver of Light.<\/p>\n

Zion<\/a> is the connecting point of Yesod<\/a> of Malchut<\/a>. It is called “Mount Zion<\/a>” because it is the higher level where we can see the Light. It is the center of the world. The first letter of יסוד, Yessod<\/a>, is Yod to tell us that it includes the light from the highest level. Jerusalem<\/a> is Malchut<\/a> and the vessel that needs the Light from above to be complete.
\nJerusalem<\/a> of the lower level is dark without the light from the ‘Mount of Zion<\/a>’ that brings fulfillment. Without the Holy Temple and the constant flow of Light to the world, Jerusalem<\/a> is in a state of ‘sickness’. That is why Jerusalem<\/a> is a code word for the soul’s yearning for the light, feeling sick without it. This aspect is revealed from the name itself.
\nJerusalem<\/a>, ‘ירושלם’ is numerically 586, same as ‘Shofar<\/a>,’ ‘שופר,’ which is the aspect of connection to the upper levels.
\nThe actual pronunciation of the name is ‘Yerushalayim’ that normally requires the letter Yod י to be present just before the last letter of the name. Instead, we find only the ‘chirik<\/a>’ which is a vowel that comes under the Yod to guide us to proper pronunciation. Interesting point is that the English word ‘Jerusalem<\/a>’ is pronounced like the Hebrew name ‘ירושלם’ without the Yod.
\nWe find in the Bible 622 times the incomplete form of the name ‘ירושלם’ and only five times the complete and proper form of the name ‘ירושלים’.
\nThe five times the name appears is related to the Holy aspect of Jerusalem<\/a>.
\nThe letter Yod י represents the Light from Keter<\/a> and Chokmah<\/a> and the name without the Yod that appears 622 times in the Bible has the numerical value of the word בכתר, ‘in Keter<\/a>,’ revealing where to find the missing Light that Jerusalem<\/a>, ‘ירושלם’ needs in order to be ‘healthy.’
\nB”H we will see the return of YHVH<\/a> to ‘Zion<\/a>’, Yessod<\/a>, and unify with Jerusalem<\/a>, Malchut<\/a> to connect us to the Light of Keter<\/a> and Mashiach. <\/p>\n

This will fill the vessel of ‘ירושלם’ with the Missing Yod and Jerusalem<\/a> will be filled with Light that will remove darkness from the world.<\/p>\n
