205. אָמַר רַבִּי אַבָּא, עַל זֶה קָרָאנוּ, (שם יט) הַנֶּחֱמָדִים מִזָּהָב וּמִפָּז רָב וְגוֹ’. כַּמָּה מְתוּקִים דְּבָרִים עַתִּיקִים שֶׁסִּדְּרוּ הָרִאשׁוֹנִים. וְאָנוּ, כְּשֶׁטּוֹעֲמִים אוֹתָם, לֹא יְכוֹלִים לֶאֱכֹל. וַדַּאי זֶה כָּךְ, וְהַפָּסוּק מוֹכִיחַ עַל שְׁלֹשָׁה עֲבָדִים, וְהֵם אֶחָד וּבְמָקוֹם אֶחָד. וּשְׁנַיִם כְּפִי שֶׁאָמַרְתָּ, וְאֶחָד הוּא לְהִתְעַטֵּר בּוֹ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, שֶׁכָּתוּב (ויקרא כה) כִּי לִי בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲבָדִים עֲבָדַי הֵם וְגוֹ’. לֹא יִמָּכְרוּ מִמְכֶּרֶת עָבֶד. מִשּׁוּם שֶׁהַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא צָרִיךְ לְהִתְעַטֵּר בִּשְׁלֹשֶׁת אֵלֶּה. וְעַל זֶה לֹא יִמָּכְרוּ לְשֵׁם עֶבֶד, שֶׁהֲרֵי הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא הָיָה.

\nPsalms 19:11<\/a>
\n“הַנֶּחֱמָדִים מִזָּהָב וּמִפַּז רָב וּמְתוּקִים מִדְּבַשׁ וְנֹפֶת צוּפִים.”
\n“More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.”
\nRabbi Aba says how sweet is the taste of the ancient teaching from first sages. We can taste it but we can not digest it, meaning that it is difficult to understand their teachings. The Torah mentions three servants that are inclusive in one. The first two are one before the prayer, one after the Amida<\/a>.
\nLeviticus 25:55<\/a>
\n“כִּי לִי בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲבָדִים עֲבָדַי הֵם אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתִי אוֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם.”
\n“For the children of Israel<\/a> are servants to Me; they are My servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt: I am YHVH<\/a> your God.”<\/p>\n

It said on the third servant; ‘Shall not be sold as slaves’. He cannot be sold because the third is for God to be glorified with him.
\nLeviticus 25:42<\/a>
\n“כִּי עֲבָדַי הֵם אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתִי אֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם לֹא יִמָּכְרוּ מִמְכֶּרֶת עָבֶד.”
\n“For they are My servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.”<\/p>\n

\nWhen a person who is accustomed to come and pray in the Synagogue is missing one day, the Holy One Blessed be He asks about him; Isaiah 50:10<\/a> “מִי בָכֶם יְרֵא יְהוָה שֹׁמֵעַ בְּקוֹל עַבְדּוֹ אֲשֶׁר הָלַךְ חֲשֵׁכִים וְאֵין נֹגַהּ לוֹ יִבְטַח בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה וְיִשָּׁעֵן בֵּאלֹהָיו.” “Who among you fears YHVH<\/a>, Who obeys the voice of His Servant Who walks in darkness And has no light? Let him trust in the name of YHVH<\/a> And rely upon his God.”<\/p>\n

The Zohar asks about the meaning of ‘obeys the voice of His Servant’. Is God obeying a prophet or any other person? Is it because the person made his prayer, God listens to his voice?<\/p>\n
