222. בֹּא וּרְאֵה מַה כָּתוּב, וַיַּרְא בָּלָק בֶּן צִפּוֹר. וְכִי מַה שּׁוֹנֶה שֶׁהִזְכִּיר שֵׁם אָבִיו מִשְּׁאָר מְלָכִים? אֶלָּא יִתְרוֹ נִמְשַׁךְ וְנֶעֱבַר מֵעֲבוֹדָה זָרָה, וּבָא לִדְבֹּק בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל הוּא וּבָנָיו, וְכָל הָעוֹלָם נִדּוּ אוֹתוֹ וְרָדְפוּ אַחֲרָיו.<\/div>\n

Zohar Balak<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nNumbers 22:2<\/a> “וַיַּרְא בָּלָק בֶּן צִפּוֹר אֵת כָּל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יִשְׂרָאֵל לָאֱמֹרִי.” “Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel<\/a> had done to the Amorites.”
\nThe Zohar asks why Balak’s father is mentioned but not for other the kings of Midian and answers that Jethro that came from Midian abandoned the idol worship and came to be with the Israelites<\/a> and follow the Torah. The rest of the world hounded and excommunicated him.<\/p>\n

\nBalak was one of the grandsons of Jethro. He didn’t follow his father’s and grandfather’s ways. The elders of Moab and Midian were connected in peace with their idol worship. They called upon Balak and made him a king ‘at that time’ as we read in Numbers 22:4<\/a> “וּבָלָק בֶּן צִפּוֹר מֶלֶךְ לְמוֹאָב בָּעֵת הַהִוא” “And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.”
\n‘Zippor’ in Hebrew ‘Bird’ in this verse refers to Jethro and his sons that connected with the Israelites<\/a> to the Shechina.
\nMoab and Midian chose Balak because they saw that he took the path of magics and not the ways of his fathers.
\nThe verse above says ‘Balak saw’ and not “Balak heard” to tell us that even though he wasn’t present to see what ‘Israel<\/a> had done to the Amorites’ he could see the events with his magic. He also saw that he had an opportunity to stop the Israelites<\/a> before falling into their hands. <\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nBalak and Balaam relied on the forces they harnessed from the other-side<\/a> but the light of the Israelites<\/a> protected them.
\nThe power of magic from the other side<\/a> is very strong but it can never be pure or see the true picture of the future. Magics use objects of this world that by nature have a temporary state and aspect of death. It means that magic always includes the aspect of judgment in them. Therefore they can never be trusted. Some people may get impressed by ‘magicians’ and fortune-tellers that use cards, bones, and many different types of objects but sooner or later judgments that are attached to these types of magics can inflict serious harm.
\nEven a holy name on a beautifully designed jewelry can come with judgment. They are made for profit by a craftsperson and lose the aspect of a vessel of light. The moment it is touched by people, the energy of the name disappears.
\nEarly Kabbalists made amulets and special writings for specific individuals. They didn’t make mass production for profits. In many cases, they made fasts and special prayers to inject power into the amulet. The best amulets for everything in our life is the pure light that emanates from the study of the sacred text of Torah and Zohar.<\/p>\n
