Zohar Vaetchanan<\/strong>
\nBecause today is the ninth of Av, we are not allowed to study the Torah that usually gives us pleasures. We are allowed to study the book of lamentation and subjects related to the destruction of the Holy Temple.
\nToday’s study is from Zohar Vaetchanan and quotes Lamentation and the destruction of the Holy Temple.<\/p>\n

\nLamentation 1:13<\/a>
\n“מִמָּרוֹם שָׁלַח אֵשׁ בְּעַצְמֹתַי וַיִּרְדֶּנָּה פָּרַשׂ רֶשֶׁת לְרַגְלַי הֱשִׁיבַנִי אָחוֹר נְתָנַנִי שֹׁמֵמָה כָּל הַיּוֹם דָּוָה.”
\n“From above He has sent fire into my bones, And it overpowered them; He has spread a net for my feet And turned me back; He has made me desolate And faint all the day.”
\nWhen the children of Israel<\/a> repent before the Holy One Blessed be He, by the merit of the Torah they will return from exile to the Holy Land. It will be like a one day of exile because a day of the Holy One Blessed be He is a thousand years. This is the meaning of ‘He has made me desolate And faint all day’.
\nIf they do not repent, the Holy one would say;
\nGenesis 29:7<\/a>
\n“וַיֹּאמֶר הֵן עוֹד הַיּוֹם גָּדוֹל לֹא עֵת הֵאָסֵף הַמִּקְנֶה הַשְׁקוּ הַצֹּאן וּלְכוּ רְעוּ.”
\n“Then he said, “Look, it is still a high day; it is not time for the cattle to be gathered together. Water the sheep, and go and feed them.””
\nWithout the merits of good deeds, the answer is to ‘water the sheep’, where water is the aspect of the Torah, and ‘go and feed them’ is the place of rest, where they reap the rewards.<\/p>\n

\nAnother explanation, the ‘high day’ is the day that is called (Isaiah 22:5<\/a>) “כִּי יוֹם מְהוּמָה וּמְבוּסָה וּמְבוּכָה” “a day of turmoil and trampling and confusion”, on that day the Holy Temple was destroyed and Israel<\/a> went into exile.
\nBecause of the wicked ways, the day becomes longer, and ‘it is not time for the cattle to be gathered together’. The Israelites<\/a> are still in exile until they ‘water the sheep’, with the study of Torah, and with these merits, they will come out of exile.<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nThe ninth of Av is a day of mourning that is 1952 years long. At the end of Lamentation (5:21), we read “הֲשִׁיבֵנוּ יְהוָה אֵלֶיךָ ונשוב [וְנָשׁוּבָה] חַדֵּשׁ יָמֵינוּ כְּקֶדֶם.”
\n“Turn us back to You, O YHVH<\/a>, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old,”
\nWe should increase our studies and pray to have the glory of God return to Zion<\/a> and Jerusalem<\/a> and stop the pain.<\/p>\n
