73. וַיִּגְדְּלוּ הַנְּעָרִים, הַצַּד שֶׁל אַבְרָהָם גָּרַם לָהֶם לְהִתְגַּדֵּל וּזְכוּתוֹ סִיְּעָה לָהֶם, הוּא הָיָה מְחַנֵּךְ אוֹתָם בְּמִצְווֹת, שֶׁכָּתוּב כִּי יְדַעְתִּיו לְמַעַן יְצַוֶּה אֶת בָּנָיו וְגוֹ’, לְרַבּוֹת יַעֲקֹב וְעֵשָׂו. וַיִּגְדְּלוּ הַנְּעָרִים וַיְהִי עֵשָׂו אִישׁ יֹדֵעַ צַיִד וְגוֹ’. אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, כָּל אֶחָד וְאֶחָד נִפְרַד לְדַרְכּוֹ, זֶה לְצַד הָאֱמוּנָה – וְזֶה לַצַּד שֶׁל עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה.
\n74. וְכֵן הָיָה בַּמֵּעַיִם שֶׁל רִבְקָה, שֶׁשָּׁם כָּל אֶחָד הָלַךְ לְצִדּוֹ. שֶׁכַּאֲשֶׁר הִיא הִשְׁתַּדְּלָה בְּמַעֲשִׂים כְּשֵׁרִים, אוֹ שֶׁעָבְרָה סָמוּךְ לְמָקוֹם טוֹב לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת מִצְווֹת הַתּוֹרָה, הָיָה יַעֲקֹב שָׂמֵחַ וְדוֹחֵק לָצֵאת. וּכְשֶׁהָיְתָה הוֹלֶכֶת סָמוּךְ לְמָקוֹם שֶׁל עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה, אוֹתוֹ הָרָשָׁע הִכָּה לָצֵאת, וּבֵאֲרוּהוּ. וּמִשּׁוּם כָּךְ, כְּשֶׁנִּבְרְאוּ וְיָצְאוּ לָעוֹלָם, כָּל אֶחָד נִפְרַד וְהָלַךְ וְנִמְשַׁךְ לִמְקוֹמוֹ שֶׁרָאוּי לוֹ. וְעַל כֵּן וַיִּגְדְּלוּ הַנְּעָרִים וַיְהִי עֵשָׂו אִישׁ יֹדֵעַ צַיִד וְגוֹ’.
\n75. וַיֶּאֱהַב יִצְחָק אֶת עֵשָׂו כִּי צַיִד בְּפִיו. הֲרֵי פֵּרְשׁוּהוּ, [כְּמוֹ] שֶׁכָּתוּב אִישׁ יֹדֵעַ צַיִד אִישׁ שָׂדֶה. וְכָתוּב שָׁם (בראשית י) הוּא הָיָה גִבֹּר צַיִד. [מַהוּ] אִישׁ שָׂדֶה, לְקַפֵּחַ אֶת בְּנֵי הָאָדָם וְלַהֲרֹג אוֹתָם. וְהוּא אָמַר שֶׁעָשָׂה תְפִלָּה, וְצָד אוֹתוֹ בְּפִיו. אִישׁ שָׂדֶה, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁחֵלֶק גּוֹרָלוֹ אֵינוֹ בְּיִשּׁוּב, אֶלָּא בְּמָקוֹם חָרֵב, בַּמִּדְבָּר, בַּשָּׂדֶה, וְעַל זֶה אִישׁ שָׂדֶה.<\/div>\n

\nGenesis 25:27<\/a>
\n“וַיִּגְדְּלוּ הַנְּעָרִים וַיְהִי עֵשָׂו אִישׁ יֹדֵעַ צַיִד אִישׁ שָׂדֶה וְיַעֲקֹב אִישׁ תָּם יֹשֵׁב אֹהָלִים.”
\n“So the boys grew. And Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob was a peaceful man, dwelling in tents.”
\nThe Right side of Abraham that is Chessed<\/a> supported the growth of the boys, Esau and Jacob. Abraham helped them by educating them the spiritual laws and precepts.
\nGenesis 18:19<\/a>
\n“כִּי יְדַעְתִּיו לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יְצַוֶּה אֶת בָּנָיו וְאֶת בֵּיתוֹ אַחֲרָיו וְשָׁמְרוּ דֶּרֶךְ יְהוָה לַעֲשׂוֹת צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט לְמַעַן הָבִיא יְהוָה עַל אַבְרָהָם אֵת אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר עָלָיו.”
\n“For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of YHVH<\/a>, to do righteousness and justice, that YHVH<\/a> may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”
\nAccording to that, we may understand that the boys grew with holiness, but later Esau became corrupted.
\nRabbi Elazar said that each of the boys went on his own way, Jacob followed the faith<\/a> and Esau turned to idol worship.<\/p>\n

\nAnd so it was in Rebecca’s womb, each one followed his side. When Rebecca was engaged in good deeds or passing by a good place to do Mitzvot of the Torah, Jacob would be happy and rushing to get out. And when she would go near a place of idol worship, Esau, the wicked one, would beat her from inside to get out. Because of that, we can understand that when they came out to the world, each followed the path they were drawn to. Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field, and Jacob was a peaceful man, dwelling in tents.
\nThe Zohar explains that ‘Esau was a hunter’ means that he was going after people and influencing them to leave the ways of the faith<\/a> in one God.<\/p>\n

\nGenesis 25:28<\/a>
\n“וַיֶּאֱהַב יִצְחָק אֶת עֵשָׂו כִּי צַיִד בְּפִיו וְרִבְקָה אֹהֶבֶת אֶת יַעֲקֹב.”
\n“Now Isaac loved Esau because he had a game in his mouth, but Rebekah loved Jacob.”<\/p>\n

Esau was cunning and cheated Isaac with his mouth. He was called ‘a man of the field’ because his place was in the wilderness, in unpopulated areas, where he could hunt people and kill them.<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nEsau and Jacob represent the paths of Good and Bad. Jacob was good, dwells in his tent, which is the aspect of light and study of the Torah.
\nEsau was negative with a desire for the self alone. He influenced people to be like him and by that disconnect them from the Light, which is an aspect of killing them.
\nThere are some people around us that would make efforts to make us believe that we are on the wrong path, and ask to join their ways so they will feel better with themselves. They can easily drain our Light and energy if we are not strong enough to resist. Leaving the tent of light means spiritual death.
\nThe Holy Tabernacle was called the Tent of Meeting.
\nThe Daily Zohar is a tent to dwell in and get spiritual vitamins to nourish and strengthen us on the righteous path of Light and Life.<\/p>\n
