98. פָּתַח וְאָמַר, (שם) שָׂמַחְתִּי בְּאֹמְרִים לִי בֵּית ה’ נֵלֵךְ. אֶת הַפָּסוּק הַזֶּה בֵּאֲרוּהוּ, שֶׁדָּוִד הָיָה עִם לִבּוֹ לִבְנוֹת הַבַּיִת, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (מלכים-א ח) וַיְהִי עִם לְבַב דָּוִד אָבִי לִבְנוֹת בַּיִת לְשֵׁם ה’ וְגוֹ’. וְאַחַר כָּךְ מַה כָּתוּב? רַק אַתָּה לֹא תִבְנֶה הַבָּיִת כִּי אִם בִּנְךָ הַיֹּצֵא מֵחֲלָצֶיךָ הוּא יִבְנֶה הַבַּיִת לִשְׁמִי. וְכָל יִשְׂרָאֵל הָיוּ יוֹדְעִים אֶת זֶה, וְהָיוּ אוֹמְרִים מָתַי יָמוּת דָּוִד וְיָקוּם שְׁלֹמֹה בְּנוֹ וְיִבְנֶה אֶת הַבַּיִת, וְאָז עֹמְדוֹת הָיוּ רַגְלֵינוּ בִּשְׁעָרַיִךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָם, אָז נַעֲלֶה וְנַקְרִיב שָׁם קָרְבָּנוֹת.

\n100. שָׁנִינוּ, עָשָׂה הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא יְרוּשָׁלַיִם לְמַטָּה כְּמוֹ שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה, וְזוֹ מְתֻקֶּנֶת [זוֹ] כְּנֶגֶד זוֹ, שֶׁכָּתוּב (שמות טו) מָכוֹן לְשִׁבְתְּךָ פָּעַלְתָּ ה’. הַבְּנוּיָה, שֶׁעָתִיד הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא לְהוֹרִיד אֶת יְרוּשָׁלַיִם שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה כָּרָאוּי, וּמִשּׁוּם כָּךְ הַבְּנוּיָה. שֶׁחֻבְּרָהּ לָּהּ יַחְדָּו, וַהֲרֵי בֵּאֲרוּהָ, שֶׁחֻבְּרָה? הָיָה צָרִיךְ לִהְיוֹת שֶׁחִבְּרוּ! אֶלָּא שֶׁהִתְחַבְּרָה הָאֵם עִם הַבַּת וְנִהְיוּ יַחַד, וּבֵאֲרוּהוּ.<\/div>\n

\nKing David desired to build the Holy Temple. He expressed his joy when the people encouraged him to build it as it is written in 1 Kings 8:17<\/a>
\n“וַיְהִי עִם לְבַב דָּוִד אָבִי לִבְנוֹת בַּיִת לְשֵׁם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.”
\n“Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a temple for the name of YHVH<\/a> God of Israel<\/a>.”
\nPsalms 122:1<\/a>
\n“שִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד שָׂמַחְתִּי בְּאֹמְרִים לִי בֵּית יְהוָה נֵלֵךְ.”
\n“A Song of Ascents. Of David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of YHVH<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

We read that Hashem<\/a> didn’t allow King David to build the Holy Temple. He wanted his son, King Solomon, to build it.
\n1 Kings 8:19<\/a>
\n“רַק אַתָּה לֹא תִבְנֶה הַבָּיִת כִּי אִם בִּנְךָ הַיֹּצֵא מֵחֲלָצֶיךָ הוּא יִבְנֶה הַבַּיִת לִשְׁמִי.”
\n“Nevertheless you shall not build the temple, but your son who will come from your body, he shall build the temple for My name.”
\nThe people knew that and wished that the old King David would die so they can enter the Holy Temple and bring offerings.
\nPsalms 122:2<\/a>
\n“עֹמְדוֹת הָיוּ רַגְלֵינוּ בִּשְׁעָרַיִךְ יְרוּשָׁלָ‍ִם.”
\n“Our feet have been standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem<\/a>!”<\/p>\n

\nEven though King David knew that the people waiting for him would die to see the building of the Temple, he was still with joy that his son would complete the great Mitzvah of building the Temple. He praised it saying Psalms 122:3<\/a>
\n“יְרוּשָׁלַ‍ִם הַבְּנוּיָה כְּעִיר שֶׁחֻבְּרָה לָּהּ יַחְדָּו.”
\n“Jerusalem<\/a> is built up as a city united together”<\/p>\n

\nThe Holy One Blessed be He made the Jerusalem<\/a> of the lower level that is the Nukva<\/a>, like the supernal<\/a> Jerusalem<\/a> above that is Binah<\/a>. They are parallel to each other to have a perfect unification in the future.
\nThe verse above says ‘Jerusalem<\/a> is built up’ to tell us that the Holy One Blessed be He would bring down the supernal<\/a> Jerusalem<\/a> with the third Holy Temple in a complete form to unite with the lower Jerusalem<\/a>, like a mother<\/a> uniting with her daughter to become one.<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nKing David was righteous but as a warrior that killed people, Hashem<\/a> didn’t allow his hands to build the Holy Temple. King David was humble and accepted the will of God. Nevertheless, he did prepare everything needed for his son to complete the great task of building the Holy Temple.
\nThe third Holy Temple should be everlasting and therefore it must be in a complete state of purity. The Second Temple was built by the people and couldn’t service the people for a long time. The third one cannot be built by the people because even if we find pure tzadikim to build it, the materials needed for the construction of it come from a world that is corrupted with negative energies that cannot be part of the Third Temple. It must come down as complete from the heavens.
\nThere are some groups with a desire to build the Holy Temple. They may have a pure intention but their actions are futile. It would be better to direct their money and efforts toward Torah studies and actions that promote unity among the children of Israel<\/a>. This would bring more light to the world and hasten the coming of Mashiach and the Final Redemption.<\/p>\n
