116. בֹּא רְאֵה, כָּתוּב וַתְּחִי רוּחַ יַעֲקֹב אֲבִיהֶם. נִרְאֶה הָיָה שֶׁבַּתְּחִלָּה מֵתָה הָיְתָה אוֹתָהּ הָרוּחַ שֶׁלּוֹ וְלֹא הָיָה מִתְכַּוֵּן לְקַבֵּל רוּחַ אַחֶרֶת, שֶׁהֲרֵי רוּחַ שֶׁלְּמַעְלָה לֹא שׁוֹרָה בְּרֵיקָנוּת. אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי, שְׁכִינָה לֹא שׁוֹרָה אֶלָּא בְּמָקוֹם שָׁלֵם, וְלֹא בְּמָקוֹם חָסֵר, וְלֹא בְּמָקוֹם פָּגוּם, וְלֹא בְּמָקוֹם עָצוּב, אֶלָּא בְּמָקוֹם שֶׁהִתְכַּוֵּן, בִּמְקוֹם שִׂמְחָה, וְלָכֵן בְּכָל אוֹתָן שָׁנִים שֶׁיּוֹסֵף נִפְרַד מֵאָבִיו וְיַעֲקֹב הָיָה עָצוּב, לֹא שָׁרְתָה בּוֹ שְׁכִינָה.
\n117. שָׁנִינוּ, אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אָמַר רַבִּי אַבָּא, כָּתוּב (תהלים ק) עִבְדוּ אֶת ה’ בְּשִׂמְחָה בֹּאוּ לְפָנָיו בִּרְנָנָה. לְהוֹצִיא, שֶׁאֵין עֲבוֹדַת הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא אֶלָּא מִתּוֹךְ חֶדְוָה. שֶׁאָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, אֵין שְׁכִינָה שׁוֹרָה מִתּוֹךְ עַצְבוּת, שֶׁכָּתוּב (מלכים-ב ג) וְעַתָּה קְחוּ לִי מְנַגֵּן וְהָיָה כְּנַגֵּן הַמְנַגֵּן. מְנַגֵּן מְנַגֵּן שָׁלֹשׁ פְּעָמִים לְשֵׁם מָה? כְּדֵי לְעוֹרֵר רוּחַ מִשְּׁלֵמוּת הַכֹּל, שֶׁהוּא רוּחַ שָׁלֵם.

\nGenesis 45:27<\/a>
\n“וַיְדַבְּרוּ אֵלָיו אֵת כָּל דִּבְרֵי יוֹסֵף אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אֲלֵהֶם וַיַּרְא אֶת הָעֲגָלוֹת אֲשֶׁר שָׁלַח יוֹסֵף לָשֵׂאת אֹתוֹ וַתְּחִי רוּחַ יַעֲקֹב אֲבִיהֶם.”
\n“But when they told him all the words which Joseph<\/a> had said to them, and when he saw the carts which Joseph<\/a> had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived.”
\nWhen the Torah says ‘The spirit of Jacob their father revived’, we can assume that prior to that, Jacob’s spirit was dead. There was no intention on his side to draw another spirit because during the years he believed Joseph<\/a> was dead, he was sad and his vessel was flawed. Since the Shechina cannot connect to a vessel that has no joy, Jacob couldn’t have the spirit of life from the Shechina.<\/p>\n

\nRabbi Elazar quotes rabbi Aba saying (Psalms 100:2<\/a>)
\n“עִבְדוּ אֶת יְהוָה בְּשִׂמְחָה בֹּאוּ לְפָנָיו בִּרְנָנָה.”
\n“Serve YHVH<\/a> with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.”
\nThis verse tells us that serving the Holy One Blessed be He must be done with joy. Rabbi Elazar adds that the Shechina can not dwell in a person if he is in sadness.
\n2 Kings 3:15<\/a>
\n“וְעַתָּה קְחוּ לִי מְנַגֵּן וְהָיָה כְּנַגֵּן הַמְנַגֵּן וַתְּהִי עָלָיו יַד יְהוָה.”
\n“But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of YHVH<\/a> came upon him.”
\nThe verse has three times the root of ‘play music’ ‘מְנַגֵּן’ to awaken the spirit of life in its complete form from Zeir Anpin<\/a> and its three columns<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\nRabbi Aba says that from the four directions we receive everything. The three lines<\/a> also called South, North, and East. The Shechina receives the three lines<\/a> on the West.
\nFrom Zeir Anpin<\/a> of Atzilut<\/a> (Emanation<\/a>) come out the three worlds below it. B’riah (Creation), Yetzirah (Formation), and Asiyah (Action). The roots of all worlds hold to the three lines<\/a> to receive their Light. The Right line is called ‘South’. The Left line<\/a> that doesn’t illuminate without the Right line is called North. The Middle line<\/a> that illuminates by covering Chassadim<\/a> before the unification with the Nukva<\/a> that shines with uncovered Chassadim<\/a> at the time of unification with Zeir Anpin<\/a> in the West, Yessod<\/a>. Then the Light from all directions come together as parents and bring life to all levels below.<\/p>\n

Lesson;
\nFalling into a state of sadness for whatever reason means rejection of the fact that Hashem<\/a> controls everything and there is a reason behind every situation in our lives. The sages tell us not to cry on the dead for more than three days. We respect the departed soul by expressing the pain of losing them. If we cry more we attract judgments and additional loss because of a lack of faith<\/a> in Hashem<\/a>. When we hear about the death of a person we say “Baruch Dayan HaEmet” which means,” Blessed is the one who judges in truth”. With these words, we accept the judgment from above and protect ourselves from judgments.
\nAs we learned above sadness and similar emotions push away the higher Light from us and our vessel becomes flawed with less ability to draw light. <\/p>\n

Covered and uncovered Chassadim<\/a> <\/strong>
\nWhen the light of chassadim<\/a> from the Right joins the Left, they meet in the middle, Tiferet<\/a>. The Right is then in control of the Left and the light of Chassadim<\/a> is considered as ‘covered’\/concealed or in simple terms, in a potential state. Then when it goes down below Tiferet<\/a> for the unification of Yessod<\/a> and Malchut<\/a>, this Light is ‘Uncovered’\/revealed or in simple words, the potential Light expressed in action that would manifest in the Nukva<\/a>, Malchut<\/a>.<\/p>\n
