114. וְעוֹד, שֶׁהַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה לֹא נֶחֱלָק וְלֹא עוֹשֶׂה הַנְהָגוֹתָיו. מִנַּיִן לָנוּ? מֵאַבְרָהָם, שֶׁכָּתוּב וַיֵּחָלֵק עֲלֵיהֶם לַיְלָה, שֶׁנֶּחֱלַק לַעֲשׂוֹת הַנְהָגוֹתָיו. אַף כָּאן מֹשֶׁה אָמַר כַּחֲצוֹת, [מַהוּ כַּחֲצוֹת? כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (מלכים-ב ג) כַּעֲלוֹת הַמִּנְחָה, (איוב ה) כַּעֲלוֹת גָּדִישׁ. אַף כָּאן כַּחֲצוֹת] כְּשֶׁמִּתְחַלֵּק. שֶׁמֹּשֶׁה יָדַע שֶׁלֹּא יַעֲשֶׂה הַנְהָגוֹתָיו עַד שֶׁיִּתְחַלֵּק.
\n115. וְכָךְ הָיָה, שֶׁלֹּא עָשָׂה הַלַּיְלָה הַנְהָגוֹתָיו עַד שֶׁהִתְחַלֵּק, בַּחֲצִי הָאַחֲרוֹן עָשָׂה הַנְהָגוֹתָיו, זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב וַיְהִי בַּחֲצִי הַלַּיְלָה. מַה זֶה בַּחֲצִי? בַּמַּחֲצִית הָאַחֲרוֹנָה, בִּזְמַן שֶׁהִיא שׁוֹלֶטֶת, וְנִמְצֵאת זֹאת הַזֹּאת לַעֲשׂוֹת הַנְהָגוֹת תָּמִיד. וְכָל הַנְהָגָה שֶׁנַּעֲשֵׂית בַּלַּיְלָה, נַעֲשֵׂית בַּמַּחֲצִית הָאַחֲרוֹנָה.
\n116. וַה’ הִכָּה כָל בְּכוֹר. וַה’ – הוּא וּבֵית דִּינוֹ. וַה’ – הוּא וְהַנְהָגוֹתָיו. הִכָּה כָל בְּכוֹר – הִכָּה? מֹשֶׁה לֹא אָמַר אֶלָּא וּמֵת וְגוֹ’, מַהוּ הִכָּה? אֶלָּא שֶׁהִתְעוֹרֵר כֹּה, כְּמוֹ שֶׁהִפְחִיד אוֹתוֹ מֹשֶׁה, שֶׁכָּתוּב וְהִנֵּה לֹא שָׁמַעְתָּ עַד כֹּה.
\n117. וְשָׁנִינוּ, פַּרְעֹה הָיָה חָכָם מִכָּל מְכַשְּׁפָיו, וְהִסְתַּכֵּל בָּזֹאת שֶׁתַּעֲשֶׂה בּוֹ דִּין, וַעֲתִידָה לְהַחֲרִיב אֶת אַרְצוֹ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁאָמַר מֹשֶׁה, בְּזֹאת תֵּדַע כִּי אֲנִי ה’. וּבַהוּא מַה כָּתוּב? Zohar Bo<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nActions are delayed until the night is split. We learn that from Abraham.
\nGenesis 14:15<\/a>
\n“וַיֵּחָלֵק עֲלֵיהֶם לַיְלָה הוּא וַעֲבָדָיו וַיַּכֵּם וַיִּרְדְּפֵם עַד חוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר מִשְּׂמֹאל לְדַמָּשֶׂק.”
\n“The night was divided and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is on the left of Damascus.”
\nWhen Moses said “כחצות” “About Midnight”, he meant that the action would take place when the night split. <\/p>\n

\nWe understand from ‘And it came to pass at midnight’ (Exodus 12:29<\/a>) that the action did not happen until after Midnight when Malchut<\/a> (זאת) takes control and can perform the actions. Al the actions made in the second half of the night.<\/p>\n

\n‘YHVH<\/a> struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt’ (Exodus 12:29<\/a>) means that Zeir Anpin<\/a>, and his forces of judgment, which is Malchut<\/a>, ‘struck all the firstborn’.
\nMoses said ‘And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die’ (Exodus 11:5<\/a>). The question is what is the difference between ‘Shall die’ ‘מת’ and ‘struck’ ‘הכה’. He explains that the aspect of judgment in Malchut<\/a> is called כה, and tells us that YHVH<\/a> used the judgment of כה to bring death to all firstborn in Egypt.<\/p>\n

Moses tells Pharaoh that so far he didn’t listen to God’s request and the judgment in Malchut<\/a>, כֹּה, acted upon him.
\nExodus 7:16<\/a>
\n“וְאָמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הָעִבְרִים שְׁלָחַנִי אֵלֶיךָ לֵאמֹר שַׁלַּח אֶת עַמִּי וְיַעַבְדֻנִי בַּמִּדְבָּר וְהִנֵּה לֹא שָׁמַעְתָּ עַד כֹּה.”
\n“Then say to him, ‘YHVH<\/a>, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me in the wilderness. But you have not listened until now (כֹּה).”<\/p>\n

\nExodus 7:17<\/a>
\n“כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה בְּזֹאת תֵּדַע כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי מַכֶּה בַּמַּטֶּה אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדִי עַל הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר בַּיְאֹר וְנֶהֶפְכוּ לְדָם.”
\n“Thus says YHVH<\/a>: “By this, you shall know that I am YHVH<\/a>. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood.”<\/p>\n

Pharaoh was wiser than his magicians. He saw that Malchut<\/a>, ‘זאת’ would inflict judgment on him, and destroy Egypt, but he chose to ignore.
\nExodus 7:23<\/a>
\n“וַיִּפֶן פַּרְעֹה וַיָּבֹא אֶל בֵּיתוֹ וְלֹא שָׁת לִבּוֹ גַּם לָזֹאת.”
\n“And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. Neither was his heart moved by this (זֹאת).”<\/p>\n
